Answer: William Wooldridge

William Woolridge was appointed as the SMA on July 11, 1966 and served in that position until August 1968. He was assigned to 1st Infantry Division and participated in the D-Day landings and the Battle of the Bulge campaigns. He was also appointed as the 1st Infantry Division sergeant major and was then deployed to Vietnam.

SMA Preston assumed duties on Jan 15, 04. SMA Preston served as the CSM for Combined Joint Task Force 7 that served in Baghdad.

SMA McKinney was sworn in on July 1, 1995 and he was the 10th SMA, and first (and only, as of 2004) African-American to assume the position. Unfortunately he will be most remembered for the sexual harassment charges that were brought against him and his administrative removal from his position.
