Subject: does word wizard have a sense of humor?

Posted by: garrybl

I've been struggling for a week with terrible letters.
But having got to a point where I could see light at the end of the tunnel Ive had 11 letters three times in the past few days.
My 12th letter when I was looking for an 11 letter word has been first Z, then X, then J.
Each time I clear out the *** killer letter in a four letter word and go back to try again...but it really feels like the system is mocking me. And yes I expect the Q any moment now.

And the next letter is....another I
IIEIII.
Read/em and weep.

Would be really interested for others to post their experiences of letters so I can be convinced it IS personal on WW's part and not a flaw in the system.

Well seen as you asked, I did have 5 E's not long ago, I simply switched some out, the word I made must've been too humdrum to be bothered remembering, seen as I can't recall it, however there was one time, i significantly remember, to be honest I thought I would've forgotten about this by now, but evidently it was just too horrendous, I remember my board was definitely full of 12 letters, because I thought to myself, "how could such an awful combination even exist from 12 letters?" and I remember I could only make a 6 letter word, and the letters I had left after that were "QAXAYA", which I thought, could be the name of a hybrid cross fruit between a papaya and quinoa. I can't quite frankly remember the word I made to be left with that, it wasn't taramasalata (which obviously doesn't fit), but it was like "SAVAGE" or something like that.

I had five U's only last week and not a Q in sight. Next week I expect Qs and no U anywhere. It usually works out with a bit of strategic swapping, and unlike in the real Scrabble you don't need to miss a go.

Since the 24th every other vowel I've received has been an I. Not quite as extreme as garrybl's situation but still noticeable.

Been hunting for a Z over the last few days, looking to finally submit "zebra" and move a step closer to the Word Safari badge. I'll only require "sloth" after that, but the WW Gods are making me work for it!

Too many consonants, especially Rs. Rather easy to fix though. Just trade consonants for vowels.

4 of my last 5 letters awarded have been U. Does make me wonder about the coding for this game.

It's probably more noticeable with Is and Us because they're the worst vowels to get. Just looked through my recent results and I had a run of As and Es too, but I didn't notice because I was able to make words with them more easily, so they didn't accumulate.

Finally got to submit "zebra" anyway. Just need to snare me a sloth!

New levels of ridiculousness.
"Repositions" isn't an accepted word.
What the...?

My last I was followed by another I...three letters ago.
Now I just drew a third I. Will keep you posted on the letter to follow.

SURPRISE SURPRISE

Another I....really how many more times does this have to happen before the organizers admit there is a flaw in the letter allocation system?

If you want to query the way in which the letter allocation is programmed, you should post in the Feedback section of the Forums where Terry can see it.

You can tell that word wizard dictionary is not a football (soccer) fan, because it does not include the word 'chesting'.

The 'i's are running rampant today. At one point I had seven of them. Need I say I made a couple of trades.

The question: an archaic drinking vessel

My answer: cistern (wrong)

You can't tell me old-timey people weren't drinking out of the toilet!

Not sure which dictionary/dictionaries are used by the WordWizard editors. I've checked 3 so far and "recalibrate" is listed in all 3. Not accepted in the funtrivia universe, though. Soooooooo many common words not accepted .......
