Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1955, this actor, who is now very famous, had an uncredited part (his first acting part) as a lab technician in 'Revenge Of The Creature'. Later that same year, this person was an uncredited fighter pilot in 'Tarantula'. Who do you think that actor was?

Answer: Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood had several uncredited parts when he began his acting career. Most people remember him as Rowdy Yates in the TV series 'Rawhide' that ran from 1959 to 1965. In the 1960s, he made spaghetti western movies; in the '70s, he played Harry Callahan; in the '90s, he started directing. One of his best westerns was 'Unforgiven', released in 1992.

In 2004, he produced and starred in 'Million Dollar Baby', which won four Academy Awards.
2. This actor has played a policeman several times on TV and film. But the first time he appears is in the 1984 movie 'C.H.U.D.'. Who do you think that is?

Answer: John Goodman

John Goodman played a cop in Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller (CHUD), a movie about toxic waste stored under New York City streets. John is probably best known for his role as Dan Conner, Roseanne's husband, on the TV series that ran from 1988 to 1997. He was in 'The Big Lebowski' in 1998, and does voices for many animated features.
3. Jeff Goldblum was another of the actors that tried his hand at horror. He was in a 1977 movie; what was the name?

Answer: The Sentinel

In 1977, Jeff was in 'The Sentinel' and in 1978, he costarred in 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers', a remake of a horror/sci-fi classic. He was one of seven friends that gathered after a funeral in 'The Big Chill' (1983). He has a memorable quote from 1993's 'Jurassic Park' - 'Now eventually you might have dinosaurs on your, on your dinosaur tour, right?'. He returned in 2009 to a TV series, 'Law And Order: Criminal Intent'.
4. Which actor, mostly known for TV roles, was in 'Without Warning' in 1980?

Answer: David Caruso

If I said 'Hill Street Blues' (1981-1983), 'NYPD Blue' (1993-1994) or 'CSI: Miami' (2002- ), would that have helped? Early on in David Caruso's career, he was in the 1980 horror movie 'Without arning'. Just before starting 'CSI: Miami', he was in another horror movie - 'Session 9' (2001).

He was in 'First Blood' (1982), 'King Of New York' (1990), and two of my favorites 'Kiss Of Death' and 'Jade', released in 1995.
5. Which of the following do you think was George Clooney's FIRST horror movie?

Answer: Predator: The Concert 1987

So, did you think George left 'ER' (1994-2009) and went with his friend and costar Quentin Tarantino to make his first horror file 'From Dusk Till Dawn'? George was in all of the movies listed but 'Predator: The Concert' was actually filmed in 1984 but not released until 1987.

He's played Danny Ocean in three 'Ocean' movies. He's been a boat captain in 'The Perfect Storm' (2000) and has special powers in 'The Men Who Stare At Goats' (2009).
6. Judi Dench is a distinguished English actor. She won an Oscar, a Tony, and some Golden Globes. Which of the following horror movies do you think Judi may have been in?

Answer: "A Study In Terror" (1965)

Dame Dench started on TV in 1959. She mainly had TV roles but in 1965, she was in a Sherlock Holmes story considered to be a horror drama, 'A Study In Terror'. She continued to mostly appear on TV and in Shakespearean theater until she was cast as 'M' in the 1995 James Bond movie, 'Golden Eye'.
7. Which actor, that has played Bond, was in 'The Jacket' in 2005.

Answer: Daniel Craig

Before Daniel Craig was shaken, not stirred, he was in a movie starring Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley, 'The Jacket'. Craig started his career in 1992 and like so many other stars, did most of his early work on TV. He made 'Casino Royale' in 2006, 'Quantum Of Solace' in 2008, 'Bond 23' (in pre-production 2010), and does voices for some of the Bond video games.
8. This person started acting on TV at age eight. In 1977, this person was in 'The Spell'. Who do you think this may be?

Answer: Helen Hunt

Helen Hunt was in the TV movie 'The Spell' about an overweight girl who used her supernatural ablitiy to get back at those that made fun of her. She costarred with Paul Reiser in a romantic comedy TV series from 1992 to 1999, 'Mad About You'. In 1996, she was in 'Twister' with Bill Paxton, in 1997, she was in 'As Good As It Gets' with Jack Nicholson, and in 2000, costarred with Mel Gibson in 'What Women Want'. Too bad she can't get decent roles in movies with big male stars!?!
9. Which 1988 movie, based on a Bram Stroker book, was Hugh Grant in?

Answer: The Lair Of The White Worm

Stoker didn't write very many stories in his lifetime. 'Dracula' was his fifth and 'The Lair Of The White Worm' was his last novel. He was not well known for his writing while he was living.
Hugh Grant starred with Amanda Donohoe and Catherine Oxenberg in 'The Lair Of The White Worm'. He's well known for 'Four Weddings And A Funeral' (1994), a sex scandal in 1995, 'Notting Hill' (1999), and 'Love Actually' (2003).
10. This star of 'Cheers' was in 'Creepshow' in 1982. The movie was based on comic books. Stephen King and George Romero brought five stories to the big screen.

Answer: Ted Danson

Just before Ted Danson became a star of 'Cheers' (1982-1993), he was buried up to his neck on a beach in 'Creepshow'. Danson started on TV in 1975 and mostly worked on TV until after 'Cheers'. He did have smallish parts in 'The Onion Field' (1979) and 'Body Heat' (1981) prior to trying his hand at horror.

He had another successful stint on TV as Dr. John Becker, in 'Becker' (1998-2004).
