Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In CB terminology, what city was called "Alamo City"?

Answer: San Antonio

This one is easy, if you "Remember the Alamo". San Antonio, the second largest city in Texas is home to the famous Alamo. The Alamo was a mission which was defended in 1836 by 187 men against a Mexican army consisting of about 6000 troops led by General Santa Anna. The Americans, including Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie led by Lt. William Travis lasted 13 days until they were all killed.
2. In CB terminology, what city was called "Astrodome City"?

Answer: Houston

Another pretty easy one, just think of the old home of the Houston Astros and the fact that they played in the Astrodome. The Astrodome opened its doors in 1965, and was originally called The Harris County Domed Stadium and was nicknamed the "Eighth Wonder of the World". The Astrodome, the first of its kind covers 9 1/2 acres and stands 18 stories tall.
3. In CB terminology, what city was called "Bar City"?

Answer: Forrest City

I don't know about today, but at one point in time this small city in Arkansas had a ton of bars and barbeque places. Anyone near there drop me a line and let me know if this is still true.
4. In CB terminology, what city was called "Bay City"?

Answer: San Francisco

Another one that is somewhat easy, with the Pacific Ocean to the west, San Francisco Bay to the east, and the Golden Gate to the north. San Francisco was first settled in 1776 by Spanish missionaries and quickly grew. Truckers enjoy trips there especially in the winter because the area has typically mild winters.
5. In CB terminology, what city was called "Bean Town"?

Answer: Boston

This term is pretty much used by everyone as Boston has a reputation for loving baked beans. Boston is considered by many to be the cultural and economic capital of the New England area. Boston was founded in 1630 and is the home of many "firsts" in the USA, including America's first public school, Boston Latin School, which was founded in 1635 and first college, Harvard College which opened it's doors in 1636. Boston is also home to the first subway system in the United States, and of course a very famous baseball team, the Red Sox.
6. In CB terminology, what city was called "Beer City"?

Answer: Milwaukee

Milwaukee was once home to four of the largest breweries in the world (Miller, Pabst, Schlitz and Blatz) and was the number one producer of beer in the world. The city was first settled in 1818 along the shores of Lake Michigan and was so named from the Algonquian word Millioke, meaning either "Good/Beautiful/Pleasant Land".

Although the city was once known for it's brewing it is no longer the brewing capital it once was.
7. In CB terminology, what city was called "Big D"?

Answer: Dallas

There is also a "Big T" (Tuscon) "Big M" (Memphis) and "Big A" (Amarillo).
8. In CB terminology, what city was called "Capital J"?

Answer: Jackson

Jackson is the state capital of Mississippi, so instead of "big" it got the "capital" nickname. Jackson is one of those place truckers did not want to drive through in the summer as temperatures average in the high 80s, low 90s with high humidity.
9. In CB terminology, what city was called "Circle City"?

Answer: Indianapolis

Although NASCAR has pretty much become the number one racing sport in America, no single race has historically gotten the attention that the Indianapolis 500 (which is oval shaped) has, and it takes place every year in Indianapolis.
10. In CB terminology, what city was called "Cigar City"?

Answer: Tampa

One of the most popular cigars used to be the Tampa brand. They had a great slogan used in their advertisements, "Hav-A-Tampa". The cigar company was originally founded in 1902, but really came to prominence in the late 70s and is now a huge world wide company.

Some think the name Tampa was derived from an Indian term for "sticks of fire", so called that because so many lightning strikes are recorded in the area each year.
