Answer: Moaning Myrtle

Moaning Myrtle is the ghost who haunts the girl's bathroom. We are first introduced to Myrtle in "The Chamber of Secrets," when Harry, Ron and Hermione are secretly brewing Polyjuice Potion in the bathroom. Myrtle was killed by the basilisk who lived in the Chamber of Secrets after she looked into its eyes.

She was in the bathroom at the time because a girl called Olive Hornby had been teasing her about her glasses. Moaning Myrtle, in my opinion, is really quite a character, and pops up now and then in the Harry Potter books.

Answer: Rubeus Hagrid

Rubeus Hagrid, or better known as just Hagrid, was only the Hogwarts gamekeeper when we first met him, and was the one who first introduced Harry to the wizarding world. In "The Prisoner of Azkaban," Hagrid is promoted to the Care of Magical Creatures teacher.

In "The Goblet of Fire," we learn of Hagrid's real parentage; his father was a muggle, and his mother was a giantess. Hagrid was expelled in his third year for supposedly opening the Chamber of Secrets, even though it was really Tom Riddle (aka Voldemort.) Unfortunately, Hagrid has a rather disturbing liking for large and dangerous creatures, including dragons, monstrous three headed dogs, acromantula (giant spiders,) blast ended skrewts, hippogriffs, and lots lots more!

Answer: Severus Snape

Severus Snape is Harry Potter's potions teacher from Book One through to Book 5, after which he becomes the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. He was at school with James Potter, Harry's dad, and he didn't like him, so he certainly has made no secret of the fact that he doesn't like Harry.

At the end of "The Half-Blood Prince," Snape killed Dumbledore, thus showing his "loyalty" to Voldemort. I personally have more faith in Snape, and believe that he will turn out to be one of the good guys.

Answer: Remus Lupin

Remus Lupin was Harry's Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in "The Prisoner of Azkaban." He also happened to be a werewolf. Lupin was also one of Harry's dad's best friends at school, along with Sirius Black. Professor Lupin was the one who taught Harry how to conjure up a Patronus, which has ultimately saved Harry's life on some occasions.

Unfortunately, Lupin resigned at the end of "The Prisoner of Azkaban," as Snape "accidentally" let slip at breakfast that he was a werewolf, and Lupin didn't think that Hogwarts parents would want "someone like him" teaching their children. Thankfully, this was not the last we see of him, as he crops up again in "The Order of the Phoenix" as one of the members.

The last we saw of him was in "The Half-Blood Prince," where he and Nymphadora Tonks were holding hands at Dumbledore's funeral. Personally, aside from Fred and George, Lupin is one of my favourite characters.

Answer: Alastor Moody

Alastor Moody, better known as "Mad-Eye Moody," first made his appearance in "The Goblet of Fire" as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Only problem is, the wasn't the real Mad-Eye Moody, it was an imposter, Barty Crouch Jr. So, technically, we didn't get to actually meet the real Moody until "The Order of the Phoenix." Moody is an ex-auror, and according to Ron, half the cells in Azkaban are filled due to Moody. Moody is exceedingly paranoid, doesn't trust anyone, and only drinks from his own private hip flask.

He also has a magical eye, that can see through anything, and swivels around madly.

Answer: Nearly Headless Nick

Nearly Headless Nick is the Gryffindor ghost, and seems to be on fairly friendly terms with Harry most of the time. In "The Chamber of Secrets," Harry, Ron and Hermione attend Nearly Headless Nick's 500th deathday party. Also, in "The Chamber of Secrets," Nearly Headless Nick is petrified by the basilisk. Nick has also tried for years to join the Headless Hunt, but due to the fact that his head is still technically attached to his body, he has never been allowed.

Answer: Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall is the head of Gryffindor house, and is also the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. She teaches Transfiguration at Hogwarts, and although she is strict, her heart is still in the right place. In "The Order of the Phoenix" and "The Half-Blood Prince," she is a loyal member of the Order of the Phoenix.

She is an Animagus, meaning that she can change into a cat at will.

Answer: The Bloody Baron

In the books, the Bloody Baron is depicted as being very solemn. He is the Slytherin ghost, and is described as having silvery bloodstains all over his body. Also, he is the only person in Hogwarts who can control Peeves, the poltergeist.

Answer: The Fat Friar

Not too much is known about the Fat Friar, aside from the fact that he the Hufflepuff ghost. We meet him first in "The Philosopher's Stone," as he is one of the first ghosts that the astonished first-years encounter. He is asking for Peeves to be given a second chance and be allowed to come into the feast.

Answer: Albus Dumbledore

Albus Dumbledore is (was) none other than Harry Potter's wonderful headmaster! He is described as being tall, with a pointed hat and a long silvery beard. In "The Philosopher's Stone," Dumbledore said that he had a scar on his knee, which was a map of the London Underground. In the first book, Dumbledore's "wise" words to the students before the opening feast were "Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!" Unfortunately, Dumbledore was killed (we think) by Snape in "The Half-Blood Prince." I have a funny feeling that we might be seeing more of him, though...
