"Llama" are an alternative rock band from California, famous for their album "Close to the Silence". "Baku Llama" are a Californian ambient band, known for their surreal nature. "The High Llamas" are a British band who mainly play pre-1950's American rock and jazz.

Answer: Nothing, there are no wild llamas

Llamas are domesticated animals, there aren't any wild ones - and there aren't any wild alpacas either. Of the four recognised species within the llama group of animals, both llamas and alpacas are only ever found in a domesticated state. The other two species, vicunas and guanacos, are however, truly wild.

Llamas (and the related species) do not have hooves - a llama's foot has two toes, with toe nails. As a result, llamas are not kosher, something which would probably be a relief if they knew about it!

Llamas need to be shorn as their coats can get very long and matted. They don't always like it but an expert shearer can shear them in the same way as sheep.

Llamas are herd animals, but in the absence of other llamas they will happily 'adopt' other animals and protect them from predators. It's not unusual, for example in the UK, to find a pair of llamas acting as protectors for sheep, driving foxes and stray dogs away from their flocks.
