Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the "Clue" spinoff "Clue Mysteries", which of the following characters is never a suspect?

Answer: Mr. Meadowbrook

"Clue Mysteries" was one of a series of "Clue" games introduced in the early to mid 2000s with an expanded cast of characters. In this game, players play as one of the original six clue characters as they solve a series of fifty small mysteries that typically involve theft or vandalism.

There are twelve suspects: the original six, Lady Lavender, Prince Azure, Miss Peach, Lord Grey, Mrs. Meadowbrook and Rusty. There were other characters who feature within the plotlines but were not suspects such as Alfred the butler and Mr. Meadowbrook.

The game's original victim, Mr. Boddy, is also a major nonplayable character.
2. Which of the following is NOT a possible way to win in the murderous board game "13 Dead End Drive"?

Answer: Collecting the most money from Aunt Agatha's mansion

"13 Dead End Drive" is a board game in which players compete to be the sole heir to Aunt Agatha's cat litter fortune. There are twelve heirs who are randomly assigned evenly (or as evenly as possible) amongst the players. Players can move the token of any of the heirs whether or not that heir is assigned to the player. In order to increase the chances of winning the game, the player can choose to murder the other players' heirs on one of five traps found in the mansion such as the falling chandelier or a trap door in the fireplace.

There are three ways to win. The easiest way is to simply murder all of the other heirs until only the players' heirs remain. The other ways both involve the portraits on the wall. At the end of each turn, the portrait on the wall is changed. Only living heirs can have their portrait displayed. When an heir's portrait is on the wall, they can escape the mansion with the money. Alternatively, there are detective cards in the deck of trap cards. Should all the detective cards be revealed, the police will arrive at the front door and put a stop to the murdering. Whichever player's heir has their portrait displayed when this happens, will win the game.

There is no collecting of money in "13 Dead End Drive". That mechanic was added in the sequel "1313 Dead End Drive" with an expanded cast of heirs.
3. You may need the help of the maid or butler to help you find your inheritance in the whirlpool or the refrigerator in which Hasbro board game?

Answer: Mystery Mansion

"Mystery Mansion" debuted in 1984 by Milton Bradley and involved the players building a mansion while searching for treasure chests. The more famous version was introduced in 1990 by Hasbro. Players still had to build the mansion but instead of cardboard pieces, there were only furniture items such as a rug, refrigerator and piano.

The aim of the game is to find which piece of furniture had a large inheritance in it. In order to claim the money, the player would need the card of a specific household servant and a specific item card. Along the way the players would receive clues as to where the money is hidden.

These clues could be generic such as "the money is not in the black armchair" or more specific such as "the money is in the dining room".
4. Scar, Captain Hook and Ratigan are just a few of the Disney villains who seek to defeat heroes in which Disney board and card game?

Answer: Villainous

Disney's "Villainous" is a board and card game where players can play as their favorite Disney villains. Each villain has his or her own goal they need to accomplish to win the game. Many of the villains' goals involve defeating their opposing heroes.

For example, Captain Hook must lure Peter Pan to the Jolly Roger where he must defeat him. Scar must defeat Mufasa and other "Lion King" characters to achieve 15 power and win the game.
5. Detectives try to chase down a criminal mastermind across London in which board game originally by Ravensburger?

Answer: Scotland Yard

In "Scotland Yard", one player plays as the criminal mastermind Mr. X while the others play as detectives. The aim of the game is for the detectives to capture Mr. X. The detectives can win by blocking Mr. X so he has no more moves or if they land in the same location as him. Mr. X can win by blocking off the paths of all the detectives so he can escape unimpeded.
6. Murderer, forensic scientist, investigators and witness are all roles in which murder card game that takes place in Hong Kong?

Answer: Deception

The full name of the game is "Deception: Murder in Hong Kong" but is commonly called "Deception". In this game from Grey Fox, each player is randomly assigned one of five roles: Forensic Scientist who hosts the game, the murderer who selects from their cards a murder weapon and a clue, the accomplice who knows the murderer's identity, the witness who knows both the identities of the murderer and accomplice and the investigators who must solve the crime.

The forensic scientist deals all the players, except themselves, four murder weapons and four clues. He or she will then provide the players with a series of clues that are drawn at random. The players discuss amongst themselves which murder weapon or clue could be indicated by the forensic scientist. The investigators win if just one of them correctly identifies the murderer, the murder weapon and the clue. If no investigator solves the crime, the murderer and the accomplice both win. However, if the murderer's identity is correctly guessed he or she and their accomplice can still win by successfully picking out the witness. Thus, the witness has to be careful not to be too obvious when leading the investigators toward the murderer.
7. While exploring a haunted house, one player betrays the others in which spooky board game?

Answer: Betrayal at House on the Hill

"Betrayal at House on the Hill" has players exploring and building a haunted house. At the haunting phase of the game, one of the players will betray the others. From this point on, the game varies each time it is played as there are fifty different scenarios that can play out. Typically speaking, the traitor will unleash supernatural beings to haunt the other players who must defeat them and the traitor.
8. In the board game "Mysterium", most of the players play as what kind of person?

Answer: Spirit mediums

"Mysterium" is very similar to "Clue." One player plays as the ghost of a murder victim and selects a suspect, weapon and location for each medium. Only one trio is the correct solution to who killed the victim, with what and where. The ghost communicates with the mediums through a series of clues.

As the game progresses, the mediums must correctly interpret those clues and eventually discover the true solution to the crime.
9. The game "Whitehall Mystery" is based on a real life unsolved murder.

Answer: True

The game is based on the unsolved Whitehall Mystery which took place in London in 1888. During the construction of Scotland Yard, the dismembered body of a woman was discovered. She was never identified and a killer was never caught.

In the board game, one player is Jack the Ripper and must leave four severed limbs around London before one of the detectives catches him and solves the crime.
10. What is unique about the five cases in the game "Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game"?

Answer: They are interconnected

11. Which fictional detective is the star of his own board game called "Consulting Detective"?

Answer: Sherlock Holmes

They must then study the provided clues and testimony to figure out what to do next. There are no cards or game mechanics to help them along the way.
12. When does the murder mystery game "Murder Express" end?

Answer: When the train reaches Istanbul

15. The 2005 game "Clue DVD Game" not only changed the main crime from murder to theft but also added what for the players to discover?

Answer: Time of day the theft occurred
