At the start of the film, Jaeger Clade and his son Searcher Clade are on an expedition to try and get past the Neverending Mountains that surround Avalonia. Unlike his father, Searcher does not like to explore uncharted areas and he comments to Jaeger that it is so cold that he can't feel his toes. Comically, Jaeger tells Searcher that "exploration is snow joke".

In biology a 'clade' is also called a monophyletic group and it is comprised of all lineal descendants of a common ancestor. The last name of the protagonists in "Strange World" being Clade is fitting as later on the viewer sees how all of the lifeforms in the film are interconnected.

Answer: Searcher wants to study a plant with energetic powers.

The exploration party led by Jaeger Clade originally intended to find a path beyond the Neverending Mountains. However, when Searcher Clade finds a plant that glows and seemingly has its own power source, he tells his father they have to stop to study it.

The rest of the group ends up siding with Searcher stating that the plant may provide the energy that Avalonia needs. Undeterred by the rest of the exploration party not wanting to trek on, Jaeger leaves them all behind and continues to explore.

Answer: The Founder of Pando

After Jaeger Clade separates from the other the members of his exploration group, the next scene takes place 25 years later. In this time Searcher Clade has harnessed the power of the wondrous plant, known as Pando, that has energetic powers. Searcher is called the 'Founder of Pando' and he operates a company known as Clade Farms.

Answer: Cropduster

On Clade Farms, Meridian operates a cropduster that presumably drops pesticides, water, fertilizers and other nutrients onto their plants. Many of the plants on Clade Farms are Pando, the wondrous plant of the land of Avalonia that has energetic properties. Meridian and Searcher's son, Ethan, operates the tractor on the farm. Later in the film, Meridian's abilities to fly aircraft helps a search team that loses its initial pilot in the 'Strange World'.

The creative talent behind "Strange World" described Legend as a Bernedoodle which is a cross between a Bernese mountain dog and a poodle. In the film Legend is a three-legged, always energetic dog that easily gets into mischief. Several times in the film Legend has to be rescued by his family because he has wandered off somewhere or he is in imminent peril.

Answer: Callisto

Callisto Mal is voiced by Lucy Liu and she is the President of Avalonia. Callisto was previously a member of Jaeger and Searcher Clade's exploration group that found the energetic plant Pando. After it is discovered that Pando pods are dying in many parts of Avalonia, Callisto lands her airship, the Venture, on Searcher Clade's property and asks him to come on a mission with her to figure out why the Pando plant is dying.

Answer: Flamethrower

Jaeger Clade has been stuck in the 'Strange World' for 25 years. He tells Ethan that most of the creatures there only want to kill him so he has to defend himself. Jaeger uses a flamethrower to subdue enemies that attack him. When he utilizes the flamethrower it doesn't kill the monsters but it causes them to go far away from Jaeger.

Answer: Primal Outpost

Early in the film, Ethan's friends Kardez and Diazo, brought over some Primal Outpost cards for him. Ethan was disappointed that he got a Farmer card because he does not want to carry on the tradition of operating Clade Farms. He ends up trading his Farmer card for Diazo's Explorer card.

After Ethan and his father Searcher land in the 'Strange World' and locate Jaeger, they all gather around and play a game of Primal Outpost. The three generations of the Clade men bond and Ethan tries to teach them the rules of the game but Searcher and Jaeger don't like that the game is cooperative and there are no villains.

Answer: Splat

The 'Strange World' that the travelers on the Venture end up in is filled with blue and pink creatures. Ethan comes across a small, blue blob creature that takes a particular interest in getting to know him. After the blob encases itself around Ethan's head, Ethan flings it against a wall and tells it sorry for make it go 'splat'. Ethan then decides to name the blue blob creature Splat and the creature ends up helping the Clade family.

Answer: The land of Avalonia lies on top of a massive organism.

The 'Strange World' that Jaeger Clade had been inhabiting for 25 years was actually the inside of an organism and the land of Avalonia was growing on top of the organism. The Clades and the other members of their exploration group entered the organism ('Strange World') when they traveled down through Avalonia's land and then were transported through the organism's body.

Searcher and his son, Ethan, end up seeing the eye of the organism when they fly out of the 'Strange World' and after they look up they see the land of Avalonia growing on top of the organism. The exploration group discovers that the organism's heart is being attacked by the Pando plant and with the help of blob-like creatures and flying creatures they call Reapers, the group destroys Pando so that the organism can survive.

At the end of the film the camera pans out and the organism is shown to look like a massive turtle upon whose shell the land of Avalonia is located.
