Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The album "Me Against The World" is number 170 on the list, by this rap artist.

Answer: Tupac

The songs "Outlaw", "Heavy in the Game" and "Old School" are from this album.

Before doing the movie "Poetic Justice" with Janet Jackson, Tupac played the character Bishop in the movie "Juice". Omar Epps and Samuel L. Jackson were also in this movie about four friends changed by one night, which also featured Queen Latifah in a smaller role.
2. The album at number 169 is "Aqualung" by this band fronted by Ian Anderson.

Answer: Jethro Tull

Aqualung contains the songs "Cross Eyed Mary", "Locomotive Breath" and "Mother Goose".

All songs on the album except for the title track which was co-written with Jennie Anderson, were written by Ian Anderson. Ian is also known for playing flute on Tull albums and incorporating the flute into live performances.
3. The original cast soundtrack for this musical adapted by Andrew Lloyd Webber comes in at number 168.

Answer: Phantom Of The Opera

Some of the member of the original cast were Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber version of the musical opened in London in 1986 and has had runs on every continent except for Antarctica. The show is still touring as of 2008 and is due to open in other major cities in the coming years.
4. Scott Weiland fronted this band for the album "Core" which is at number 168 on the list.

Answer: Stone Temple Pilots

Grammy winning song "Plush", "Wicked Garden" and "Dead and Bloated" highlight this album.

Scott left the band and did work with the group Velvet Revolver. In 2008 after leaving Velvet Revolver Scott got back together with the other members of Stone Temple Pilots and went on tour.
5. Number 166 is "Texas Flood" by this guitar great who tragically died in a helicopter accident in Wisconsin.

Answer: Stevie Ray Vaughan

The songs "Love Struck Baby", "Dirty Pool", the Grammy nominated instrumental "Rude Mood" and a personal favorite of mine "Pride & Joy" are all on this album.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's back up band Double Trouble consisted of Chris Layton on Drums and Tommy Shannon on Bass for this album. Layton and Shannon were part of Double Trouble for all of Stevie's albums, except for "Family Style" which Stevie did with his brother Jimmie. "Texas Flood" was Stevie's and Double Trouble's first album together, other members joined Double Trouble for future albums.
6. This band, whose fourth album contains what many consider the greatest rock and roll song of all time, has their self titled first album at number 165.

Answer: Led Zeppelin

On this selection are "Good Times Bad Times", "Dazed and Confused" and "Communication Breakdown".

The song from the fourth album is of course "Stairway to Heaven".

After the band "The Yardbirds" broke up, Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was stuck in a contract which called for the band to do more concert dates. He recruited the other three members who would form Led Zeppelin with him to complete this contract. They were Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jon Bonham. Shortly after completing the dates they changed the bands name, and having done some of the songs which would be on "Led Zeppelin" on tour, started recording.
7. Madonna has the number 164 on the list, with this her second album.

Answer: Like A Virgin

"Like a Virgin ", "Material Girl", "Dress You Up" and "Into the Groove", which is also from the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan" that Madonna appeared in, are on the album.

Many remember Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera performing "Like A Virgin" at one of the MTV Video Music Awards Shows, which finished with two infamous kisses involving Madonna. There was also her MTV Video Music Award performance of "Vogue" in 1990 and her performance of "Like a Virgin" at the inaugural Video Music Awards which included her crawling across the stage floor in a not so ladylike wedding dress.
8. Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill were part of this group who come in at number 163 with the album "The Score".

Answer: The Fugees

The Score contains the songs "Ready or Not", "Family Business" and "Fu-Gee-La".

Wyclef and Lauryn, along with Pras Michel are the members for the Fugees. Lauryn can be found on the list with her own solo album.
9. At number 162 is Avril Lavigne with this album from 2002.

Answer: Let Go

The songs "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi" and "Anything But Ordinary" are on this album.

Avril was the youngest female solo artist to reach number one on the UK album charts at the age of 17.
10. Number 161 is the "Black Album", which is the second album this rap star has on the list.

Answer: Jay-Z

Songs from this album include "99 Problems", "What More Can I Say" and "Change Clothes".

Cedric the Entertainer and Gloria Carter, Jay-Z's mother, are credited for vocals on this album.
11. Beyonce has already come in at number 183, but at number 160 is her group Destiny's Child with this album.

Answer: The Writing's On The Wall

"Say My Name" "Jumpin' Jumpin'" "Bills, Bills, Bills"

This was the last album for two of the members of the band, Latavia Roberson and Letoya Lukett were not part of future albums. Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland continued to perform with the band with other singers.
12. The group's first album "CooleyHighHarmony" comes in at number 159.

Answer: Boyz II Men

Some of the tracks on this album are "Motownphilly", "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" and "Little Things".

This album received four Grammy awards. They achieved the rare distinction of having one of their songs replace another of their songs at the number one on the charts.
13. This former member of Wham comes is at number 158 with the album "Faith".

Answer: George Michael

Featured on this album are "Father Figure" "One More Try" and "Faith".

This album received the highest ranking for record sales, which is Diamond.
14. Number 157 has the second offering from Bob Dylan, with this album featuring the song "Tangled Up in Blue".

Answer: Blood On The Tracks

My favorite song from this album is "Tangled Up in Blue", the poignant "Shelter from the Storm" and "Simple Twist of Fate" are on this album.

The songs for this album were written at a time when Bob Dylan was going through a separation from his then wife. This event appears to set the mood for this album. Though it is not a happy album, the public related extremely well to what was expressed in the music.

The great collaborator Billy Preston does work on this album.
15. What musical list these days (2008) wouldn't be complete without an appearance by Flavor Flav, so at number 156 is his band Public Enemy with this album.

Answer: It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back

Pumping off of this album are "Bring the Noise", "Don't Believe the Hype" and "Party for Your Right to Fight".

Why do we joke about Flavor Flav, if you have seen the Comedy Central Roast of him you will know why. I think it's a cross between it being so easy and him taking it so well.
