Bryan Adams released his hit song "Summer of '69" in 1985 which included the repeated line "Those were the best days of my life". It reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John performed the duet "Summer Nights" as part of their hit movie "Grease" released in 1978. The song recounted their summer together with differing male and female versions.
Don Henley released "The Boys of Summer" in 1984 and has stated that the song is about aging and questioning the past. It reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"These Eyes" was from the Guess Who's 1968 album "Wheatfield Soul". "Dark Eyes" is based on a poem written by Yevhen Hrebinka in 1843. "My Eyes Adored You" was Frankie Valli's first big hit as a solo artist, in 1974; the song was originally meant to be a Four Seasons release, but complications arose.

Born Leslie Sebastian Charles on 21st January 1950 in Trinidad and Tobago, Billy Ocean has had a plethora of R&B and pop hits, with his 1984 hit single "Caribbean Queen" winning him the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 1985 Grammy Awards.

Ocean Colour Scene are a British rock band formed in 1989 in Birmingham. They became internationally famous as part of the Britpop scene of the mid-to-late-1980, with their second studio album "Moseley Shoals", from which the single "The Day We Caught the Train" is taken, remaining in the UK album chart for a staggering ninety-two weeks.

The drummer, John Henry Bonham, died on September 25th, 1980. His death was ruled accidental but did involve alcohol consumption. The group immediately disbanded on learning of Bonham's death. Keyboardist/bassist John Paul Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page, and singer Robert Plant were honored at the Kennedy Center on December 2, 2012.

Ginette Neveu was a French classical violinist. At the age of 15 she beat the great David Oistrakh (who was an established performer by then) in a competition. Her recording of the Sibelius Violin Concerto was a landmark. At the age of 30, in 1939, Neveu died in a plane crash.
Stéphane Grappelli was a legendary French jazz violinist, performing in the Quintette du Hot Club de France alongside Django Reinhardt. He continued to perform into his eighties.
Itzhak Perlman, born in Tel Aviv, was one of the most lauded classical violinists of the post-war era. His memorable performances include the 1969 all-star recording of Schubert's "Trout Quintet", with Daniel Barenboim, Pinchas Zuckerman, Jacqueline du Pré, and Zubin Mehta.
The Italian Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840) was the most celebrated violin virtuoso of all time. His phenomenal technique was revered and influenced subsequent players. He was also a composer whose works inspired the likes of Rachmaninoff and Chopin.
