Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the song "Monster Mash" what monster movie icon did Bobby Pickett do an impersonation of?

Answer: Boris Karloff

Robert George Pickett is better known as Bobby "Boris" Pickett. He performed the song mostly impersonating Boris Karloff, though he also briefly impersonated Bela Lugosi when he did the voice of Dracula in the song. Karloff himself was so impressed with Pickett's performance that he himself preformed the song on an episode of the TV show "Shindig".

2. According to the Gene Autry children's song, what does "Frosty the Snowman" have for eyes?

Answer: coal

Searching for another hit song to follow his successful recording of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," Gene Autry commissioned Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson to write it. They produced "Frosty the Snowman" which Autry recorded with the Cass Country Boys in 1950.

The song has since been covered by Jimmy Durante, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Jan and Dean, Johnny Mathis, Guy Lombardo, The Canadian Brass, The Hampton String Quartet, and Burl Ives (for television). The lyric says "Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul with a corncob pipe and a button nose and his eyes made out of coal."

3. What Canadian rock 'n roller co-wrote "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" in 1991 and the 1985 charity single "Tears Are Not Enough"?

Answer: Bryan Adams

The Juno Award winner and native of Kingston, Ontario co-wrote "Tears Are Not Enough" with Canadian super-producer David Foster in the wake of the American smash hit "We Are The World". Adams recommended that Foster's lyric, "We can close the distance/Only we can make the difference" has better symbolism when changed to "we can BRIDGE the distance". His song "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" is immortalized on the soundtrack to the 1991 film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves".

8. Singer-songwriter-musician Graham Nash traveled by train across Morocco in 1966. Which song did he write about his trip which was rejected by the Hollies but recorded by Crosby, Stills and Nash?

Answer: The Marrakesh Express

Graham Nash was a member of the Hollies from 1962 to 1968. He wrote "Marrakesh Express" about his vacation trip on the train from Casablanca to Marrakesh. The Hollies declined to record it but Nash's new band -- Crosby, Stills and Nash (later Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) -- recorded it in 1969.

The lyrics' reference to "ducks and pigs and chickens" is an accurate recollection of the domesticated animals with whom Nash shared the train trip.

9. Which Beatles were left-handed?

Answer: Paul and Ringo

Paul was the "sinister" Beatle. It's debatable if Jimi Hendrix or Paul is the more famous rock and roll lefty. Some people claim photos of Paul handling any random object with his right hand is proof he was replaced with a doppelganger after an untimely death. Ringo Starr is also left-handed! 'I'm your basic offbeat drummer with funny fills ... because I'm really left-handed playing a right-handed kit. I can't roll around the drums because of that."'
