Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Buckethead, Dizzy and Duff have all been members of which band?

Answer: Guns N Roses

Nobody can doubt the success that Guns N Roses have enjoyed. When "Appetite for Destruction" was released in 1987, the band became one of the best known rock bands in the world. However, Axl Rose wasn't the easiest person to get on with, and a string of members came and left. Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler all left the group during the 90s, and Guns N Roses were never the same afterwards.
2. Of the following musicians, which was once a drummer?

Answer: Joey Ramone

Joey Ramone started out as a drummer for his band, but soon switched to vocals once Tommy Ramone was onboard. Kurt Cobain was singer/guitarist for Nirvana. Kirk Hammett is the guitarist for Metallica, and Anthony Kiedis was the vocalist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
3. Which of these was Megadeth's debut album?

Answer: Killing is My Business... and Business is Good

"Killing is My Business" was released in 1985, with "Peace Sells..." coming a year later. Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was once Metallica's lead guitarist, but was kicked out of the band due to alcohol related problems.
4. Which of these tracks is NOT on AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" album?

Answer: Kicked in the Teeth

"Kicked in the Teeth" is a track on the band's "Powerage" album. AC/DC have influenced numerous bands over the years including Metallica and Guns N Roses. Tragedy struck the band in 1980 when singer Bon Scott died after drinking heavily. The band returned, however, with Brian Johnson on vocals.
5. Kim Thayil played guitar for which of these bands?

Answer: Soundgarden

Soundgarden broke through the music scene in 1991 when they released their third album, "Badmotorfinger". Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shephard put out such tracks as "Jesus Christ Pose", "Black Hole Sun" and Spoonman" amongst others during the 1990s. Soundgarden split in 1997, with Cornell teaming up with former Rage Against the Machine members to form what became known as Audioslave.
6. Where was Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott born?

Answer: West Bromwich, England

Although Lynott had an Irish mother, it was on 20th August, 1949, when he was born in Birmingham, England. Thin Lizzy became iconic in the rock scene, with guitarists like Gary Moore, Brian Robertson, Brian Downey, and even Ultravox's Midge Ure! Lynott died from a drugs overdose on 4th January, 1986.
7. Which of these had albums such as "Reign in Blood", "Seasons in the Abyss", and "Diabolus in Musica"?

Answer: Slayer

Although Slayer's drum-seat changed a number of times over the years, singer/bassist Tom Araya, and guitarists Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman remained intact. Slayer released their debut, "Show No Mercy" in 1983 with Dave Lombardo on drums, and quickly became known as one of the heaviest bands of all time. 1986 saw the release of "Reign in Blood" which is still regarded as the most brutal album ever recorded, with 10 tracks spanning over 28 minutes of intense drumming and ear-shattering guitars.
8. "From Enslavement to Obliteration" was an album featuring 27 tracks, ranging from 5 seconds long to just over 3 minutes in length. Which band recorded this album?

Answer: Napalm Death

Civil Defence was the original name of the band that went on to become Napalm Death. The band went through extensive line-up changes over the years, and included Bill Steer (Carcass), Lee Dorrian (Cathedral), and Barney Greenway.
9. Body Count was formed as a side-project by which rapper?

Answer: Ice-T

Never one to stray away from controversy, Ice-T sang for this metal band, along with Mooseman, Ernie-C, Beatmaster V, and D-Roc. When the debut album was released, they were forced to remove one track due to the nature of the record with the then President, Bill Clinton, getting involved.
10. Which of these bands sampled a chainsaw to use with one of their tracks?

Answer: Jackyl

"The Lumberjack" featured chainsaw-esque riffs, which made the record unique. Jackyl was formed in Georgia in 1990, with Jesse James Dupree, Tom Bettini, Jimmy Stiff, and Jeff & Chris Worley.
