Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was Kincade singing to when he explained that 'dreams are ten a penny'?

Answer: Jenny

Another classic from 1973!
2. What night of the week was Barry Blue singing about when he sang "We'll the roller coaster, gotta make the most and dance, dance, dance the night away"?

Answer: Saturday

The song title is "Dancing on a Saturday Night"
3. "Beach Baby" was a popular song by 'First Class'; Can you remember which months of the year they mentioned in this pop tune?

Answer: July and September

I might use this song again in a later quiz question as it has a place that I can use.
4. Who will Smokie "never get used to not living next door to"?

Answer: Alice

Sally is also mentioned in the song.... she's the one who is willing to help Smokie get over Alice. (Nice of Sally isn't it?)
There is also a rude version of this that most Aussies sing when it's played in the pub or at a party late at night.
5. "_______, sick and tired, you've been hanging round me You make me sad with your eyes You're telling me lies Don't go, don't go" These Pilot lyrics have a missing word - do you know what it is?

Answer: January

I hope everyone gets this one correct!
6. Barry Manilow had a hit with a song titled "Mandy" but it was originally a hit single for Scott English titled what?

Answer: Brandy

I prefer the Brandy version - but hey, we're all different right?
And you might be interested to know that "in the three years between English's recording and Manilow's, Looking Glass had a hit song with "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)") in 1972. Therefore, to avoid confusion, when Manilow decided to make his record he changed the title to Mandy" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandy_%28song%29)
7. Flash and the Pan had a hit about a Saint. What was this saints name?

Answer: St Peter

I said, Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, St. Peter
It really feels like hell
It really feels like hell
It really feels like hell

Does any other song have this many hey's in it?
8. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band sang about Mr Bojangles (as did many others) in 1970. Where did they meet Mr Bojangles?

Answer: New Orleans

Many, many artists have covered this song. It was originally written and recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker in 1967. I have both the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version and the Robbie Williams version. Both are good!
9. Australian band Cold Chisel had a huge hit in 1978 with 'Khe Sanh'. This song refers to which country?

Answer: Vietnam

'Khe Sanh' is an all time great Aussie pub and party song, written about the troubles of a Vietnam veteran. Visit youtube if you haven't heard it.
10. Back to "Beach Baby". They took the car and drove to (where)?

Answer: San Jose

By the way - the car they drove was a Chevrolet (of course)!
