Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve, according to Genesis 4:25. The first two sons were Cain and Abel. Adam and Eve had more children after Cain, Abel and Seth but no names are mentioned. Genesis 5:4 in the NIV Bible simply states: "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters."

Answer: Esther

Esther is the correct answer. Her Jewish name was Hadassah and after her parents died she was raised by her cousin Mordecai, according to Esther 2:7. Esther and Mordecai would join forces to prevent Haman from carrying out a diabolical plan to exterminate all the Jews in the vast area ruled by the man known as Xerxes in the NIV Bible and Ahasuerus in the KJV.

According to the Web site Christiananswers.net, Hadassah means 'myrtle' or 'bride'.

Answer: Peter

Peter is the correct answer. According to John 1:40-44, Peter and Andrew were brothers and they both came from Bethsaida, a fishing community on the Sea of Galilee. According to the same passage, the disciple Philip also came from Bethsaida.

Answer: the Leper

Simon the Leper is the correct answer. According to Scripture, it was at his home in Bethany that Jesus was anointed with expensive perfume by Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus. Scripture doesn't say why he is called Simon the Leper, but many theologians suspect Simon had been cured of leprosy by Jesus. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible state Simon the Leper may have been the father of Lazarus, Mary and Martha. No one knows for certain, of course.

Answer: Repent

The missing word is 'repent'. The reference to John in the verse 14 is to John the Baptist, who some regard as the last of the Old Testament prophets. According to the third chapter of Matthew, John came to "prepare the way of the Lord." The word "repent" is very much a New Testament word.

In the New King James Version Bible, repent is found six times in the Old Testament but 23 times in the New Testament.

The missing word is 'sent'. In the passage John 4:27-38, Jesus is addressing His disciples. Notes in the New King James Version Study Bible have this to say about the term 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me': "This food is not simply knowing the will of God, but doing it.

This verse highlights the obedience of Jesus to God in His ministry and foreshadows His words on the Cross."

Answer: tents

The missing word is 'tents'. The verse pertains to the Israelites being led in the wilderness after their exodus out of Egypt. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible have this to say about the cloud that led the Israelites: "The cloud was a dramatic symbol of the active presence of God with His people, hovering over them in protection, moving ahead of them for direction, coming near at night as fire for comfort in the darkness."

Answer: present

The missing word is 'present'. Romans was written by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. The verses are a classic and I simply love how Paul waxes eloquent. In a nutshell, Paul is telling readers about God's everlasting love and how nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate His love from His children.

Answer: Then

The missing word is 'Then'. Genesis, of course, tells of the creation of the world. According to Scripture, light was created on the first day.

Here's how Genesis 1:1-5 reads in the NKJV Bible: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day."

The missing word is 'he'. The passage is part of the account of Jesus healing ten lepers. The story of the lepers being cleansed is found only in the Gospel of Luke.

According to the 17th chapter of Luke, Jesus was traveling along the border between Samaria and Galilee when He encountered ten lepers. Among the lepers was at least one Samaritan and it is assumed by many that the rest of them were Jews. It's interesting to note that Jews and Samaritans largely despised each other and often stayed within their jurisdictions to avoid having interactions with each other. However, it was different for lepers. It was strictly a case of misery loves company and it would not be uncommon for Jewish and Samaritan lepers to be in a group in the region Jesus was traveling through.

After the lepers cried out to Jesus to have mercy on them, they were told by Christ to show themselves to the priests. As they proceeded on their way to show themselves to the priests, a miracle happened as Scripture reports they were suddenly healed of their leprosy. According to notes in the NIV Study Bible, showing oneself to the priests was a normal procedure after a cure. (Further information about showing oneself to the priests can be found in Leviticus 13:2-3 and 14:2-32.)

However, out of the ten lepers, only one returned to give thanks to Jesus and he was a Samaritan. The other nine, when they realized they were healed, may have continued to "show themselves to the priests" as Jesus' instructions in verse 14. However, no one knows. The bottom line in this Biblical story is that only one of the cured 10 lepers returned to thank Christ.

The four Gospels continually report about Jesus looking favorably on the Samaritans. Some examples that leap to mind are the Samaritan woman at the well and the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
