Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This character was about to kill his wife when she killed herself.

Answer: Lucius Vorenus

Vorenus had just confronted his wife, Niobe, about how she'd had an affair while he was away in Gaul with Caesar. Vorenus had a knife in his hand, ready to kill Niobe when she jumped off the balcony and died.
2. Name of the slave freed in Julius Caesar's will.

Answer: Posca

Posca was Caesar's slave. Posca was given his freedom in Caesar's will. Posca then worked for Antony. While working for Antony, Posca showed that he would do things such as accept bribes to get more money. In addition, when Antony took a 'gift' from Herod and didn't tell Octavian, Posca sent word to Octavian that Antony had lied.

Posca did go with Antony to Egypt and returned on the ship carrying Atia and Octavia.
3. Octavia had sex with this individual in order to get information for Servilia.

Answer: Octavian

Octavia ended up sleeping with her brother Octavian as Servilia had asked Octavia to find out a secret. Octavian told Octavia that he and Pullo had killed the man that Niobe, Vorenus's wife, had had an affair with. Octavia told Servilia this information. Servilia used the information to pull Vorenus off Caesar's protective detail, making it easier for Caesar to be murdered.
4. Octavian used this person to get Mark Antony to help him defeat Brutus and Cassius.

Answer: Atia

Octavian's forces defeated Antony. After this, Antony's men went into the Cisalpine Gaul to regroup. Meanwhile Octavian heard that Brutus and Cassius had gathered more forces than his own forces could handle. Octavian knew that Antony hated Brutus and Cassius as much as he did, but had to figure out how to get Antony to work with him. Octavian then decided to use his mother, who was Antony's lover, in order to help convince Antony to join with Octavian to defeat Brutus and Cassius.

Atia went to Antony's camp with only a few men. In the morning, Antony asked her how she had gotten to his camp alone. She replied that she wasn't alone. Antony then went out of his tent and found himself surrounded by Octavian and his men.
5. Atia believed Octavian was this person's lover.

Answer: Caesar

Octavian didn't really know Vorenus much other than the time when Vorenus and Pullo saved him from captivity.

Octavian hated Antony (and even went to war with him more than once).

Octavian slept with his sister Octavia once. Atia did catch the two together but didn't really think Octavian was Octavia's lover.

Atia had heard that Caesar and Octavian were alone in a closet together making weird noises. (In fact, the noises were Caesar having an epileptic attack.) Atia believed that Octavian was Caesar's lover and kept telling her son that it was nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, Atia believed that it would bring her family closer to Caesar.
6. This is the name of Cleopatra's eldest child.

Answer: Caesarion

Cleopatra claimed the father of her eldest child was Caesar. In fact, it's hinted throughout the series that Pullo was the true father.
7. Servilia's nemesis was this person.

Answer: Atia

When the series began, Servilia was Caesar's lover. Atia, Caesar's niece, was competing for Caesar's attentions/love, and the two ended up feuding. Atia got Caesar to stop sleeping with Servilia, Servilia had graffiti put up about Atia, Servilia tried poisoning Atia, Atia had Servilia tortured and almost killed... It went on and on! Well, until Brutus, Servilia's son, died while battling Octavian, Atia's son, and Mark Antony, Atia's lover.

So what did Servilia do in response? Sat outside of Atia's house crying for justice day and night. And when Atia finally opened her door to face Servilia, Servilia cursed Atia and killed herself - right in front of everyone.

Atia's life went downhill after that.
8. This arrogant person was tricked into committing suicide.

Answer: Mark Antony

Julius Caesar was killed.

Brutus was killed while fighting Antony's forces. Although Brutus had taken off his armor, he really was fighting the opposing army as he was killed.

Vorenus ultimately died of his wounds while trying to sneak Caesarion out of Egypt with Pullo.

Antony was tricked by Cleopatra into committing suicide. Cleopatra's slave told Antony that Cleopatra had killed herself. Antony, distraught over Cleopatra's death and the fact that Octavian's forces were almost at the door, had Vorenus hold out his sword as Antony walked into the sword, dying as he embraced Vorenus.
9. This character almost killed Servilia by torturing her, but then rescued her.

Answer: Timon

Caesar had been Servilia's lover. The worst he did was break up with her.

Antony, although he hated Servilia, never really tortured her and tried to kill her.

Brutus was Servilia's devoted son.

Timon worked for Atia. Atia ordered Timon to kidnap Servilia after Servilia tried to poison Atia. While torturing Servilia, Timon's conscious got the better of him and as Atia commanded Timon to kill Servilia, he freed her and helped her escape from Atia.
10. This character claimed to be a son of Hades.

Answer: Vorenus

When he took over the Aventine, Vorenus told everyone he was a son of Hades in order to get them scared of him.
