Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Cleopatra concerned with when selecting a method of suicide?

Answer: No discoloration

The 'old woman' first offers a liquid that promised to be a quick death. Cleopatra then asked for something that would leave no discoloration or bloating and was offered a snake. The snake would bite either the wrist or breast and would then take 40 breaths for Cleopatra to die. Cleopatra decided to have the snake bite her breast. Octavian the came into the room and Cleopatra had time to tell him what she really thought of him. One of these thoughts was that Octavian's soul was rotten.
2. Who finds the photograph of Niobe?

Answer: Pullo

After Cleopatra dies, Pullo looks through some articles left near Mark Antony's body. One of these articles was a drawing of Niobe in a case. Pullo then realizes what Vorenus had done and went off in search of Vorenus and Caesarion.
3. What was the code that Pullo used to let Vorenus know that Pullo was with Octavian?

Answer: Pullo said Vorenus's children were well and asked after his own son

As Pullo had most likely sired Caesarion and Caesarion was in the palace with Vorenus, Pullo inquired as to his own son.
4. Who gave it away that the slave boy was actually Caesarion?

Answer: Caesarion

Pullo, Vorenus and Caesarion were attempting to go south to avoid the legions of men looking for Caesarion. They came across a roadblock of Roman soldiers. The trio was about to be allowed to pass, when one of the soldiers spoke to Caesarion as 'majesty.' Caesarion responded, calling the soldier a mortal. That's when the soldiers realised that was Caesarion - the fight was on.
5. Who was injured in the fight with the roadblock?

Answer: Vorenus

Pullo and Vorenus bet on who can kill the most men. During the fight, Vorenus was injured. Pullo said it was just a scratch and he'd seen worse injuries, but knew Vorenus's injuries were severe. Vorenus then asked Pullo to take him home - Vorenus didn't want to die in Egypt.
6. What happened to Mark Antony's children with Cleopatra?

Answer: Octavian asked Octavia to raise them

Octavia believed that Octavian was only sparing the children to look like a kindly uncle. (After all, as Mark Antony had married Octavia, Mark Antony was Octavian's brother-in-law and thus, Mark Antony's children could consider Octavian their uncle.)
7. What excuse did Atia give for not attending Octavian's celebration?

Answer: She was unwell

Octavia found Atia in her room burning a lot of incense. Atia was depressed and stared out the window. Octavia tried to get Atia to get up - saying Atia should wear her blue dress. Then Octavia told Atia that she didn't know how to go on if Atia didn't come out of her sadness.

Atia told Octavia she would not be attending the celebration as she was unwell. She'd been warned by Octavian that if she showed she was upset that Mark Antony was dead, it would be (politically) bad. (After all, Antony was Octavian's enemy.)
8. Who took the lead for the women while entering the forum?

Answer: Atia

Atia surprised everyone and showed up for the celebration. She then walked to the front of the line - cutting in front of Livia, Octavian's wife. Livia pretended that this was all right but mentioned that the priests would say the wife takes precedence over the mother. Atia said she didn't care what the priests said - she would enter first.

Atia also told Livia that she knew what Livia was thinking at that moment: Livia wanted to destroy Atia. But Atia continued and said that better women had tried (and failed).

The women then entered and took their places to see the parade.
9. What did Pullo tell Octavian he had done with Caesarion's head?

Answer: Tossed it

Pullo told Octavian that he'd found Caesarion and killed him. Pullo claimed to have brought Caesarion's head back to Octavian, but it got rotten and didn't look like anyone anymore, so Pullo threw it out.
10. Who do we not see die in this episode?

Answer: Atia

The last we see of Atia is when she attends Octavian's celebration. Vorenus dies in Rome, surrounded by his children, after Pullo brought him back from Egypt. Mark Antony and Cleopatra die in Egypt.

In real life, Atia had died years before Octavian's battle with Mark Antony.
