Jocasta, whose family was killed under Atia's command, is arranged to marry Posca and Octavia marries Mark Anthony.

Jocasta is now penniless and orphaned and has little choice but to follow through with the arrangement made by Atia. She sobs while preparing for the ceremony and has a general look of shock during it.

Octavia's marriage to Mark Antony is arranged by her brother, Octavian Caesar. She has a better chance of producing a child than Atia, even though Atia and Mark Antony have been lovers for years. A marriage between the families will also show the public that they are united. Octavia looks despondent throughout the ceremony as her lover, Agrippa, watches her wed Mark Antony.

During Jocasta's wedding, Servilia kneels outside of Atia's home and chants "Atia of the Julii, I call for justice". She stays there for days and nights, driving Atia to madness. Atia initially refuses to acknowledge Servilia but after a few days, she finally approaches her. Servilia has drawn quite a crowd and they all watch as she casts a curse on Atia and then kills herself.

Omnipor makes figures woven from straw and drops them near Vorena whenever he sees her. She has quite a collection of them hidden under her bed and soon, she and Omnipor become lovers. However, Omnipor's motivation is sinister and she is essentially tricked in spying on her father, Vorenus, for the mob boss Memmio.

Eirene tells Gaia to fetch firewood and Gaia refuses. Eirene threatens her and an argument ensues. Later, Eirene demands Pullo beat Gaia for being a disobedient slave. Pullo has every intention of following Eirene's request but when he approaches Gaia, she actually seduces him.

Vorena starts spying for Memmio and is rifling through Vorenus' papers when he walks in. When he asks her what she is doing, she says she needs money to buy a new dress for her sister. Not realizing that she is lying, Vorenus hands her a few coins and asks her for a kiss on the cheek.

The 20,000 is technically a bribe, but in Rome, bribes aren't acceptable and must be considered a gift. The 20,000 pounds buys Herod the support of the Roman Triumvirate. But after Herod leaves, Mark Antony plans to betray Caesar by not telling him of the 20,000 pounds and essentially keeping it for himself.

However after the meeting Posca informs Octavian's men that Mark Antony betrayed them and this causes a rift among the Triumvirate.

Timon and Levi believe that Herod will bring suffering to the Jewish community and plot to kill him during the public celebration of Mark Antony and Octavia's marriage. However, just as they are ready to make their move, Timon backs out, saying he doesn't want to be responsible for more bloodshed. He and Levi argue and Timon inadvertently stabs and kills his brother.

It is obvious that Octavia is not interested in consummating their marriage but Mark Antony persuades her. After the wedding, Atia goes outside to the place where Servilia killed herself and realizes that her curse is coming to fruition.

Gaia plots to kill Eirene and her baby, but the herbalist sells her the ingredients thinking that Gaia is trying to abort her own pregnancy. Earlier, Gaia referred to Eirene as a mouse of a girl who is no match for Pullo who is a lion of a man.
