Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Episode 317: "The Regina Monologues". In this episode, the Simpsons travel to England. Which of the following people did NOT make guest appearances as themselves?

Answer: Queen Elizabeth II

All is going well for the Simpsons in England, until Homer is arrested for treason after running into the queen. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair agreed to guest star on the premise that it would be a good promotional exercise for his country.
2. Episode 318: "The Fat and the Furriest". What kind of animal chases Homer out of the town dump?

Answer: Bear

The media catches this event on tape and Homer quickly becomes labelled as a coward. He then seeks revenge by building a special 'bear-fighting' suit, but on discovering that the bear is simply angry because he has an electronic tag attached to him, he instead befriends it. This episode includes a reappearance of Stampy the elephant (Bart's pet from way back in season 5).
3. Episode 319: "Today I am a Clown". At the end of this episode, Krusty finally gets to have a bar mitzvah.

Answer: True

Krusty's promoters create "Krusty the Klown's Wet 'n' Wild Bar Mitzvah", but he later returns to traditional roots with a proper ceremony. This episode also includes Homer, Lenny and Moe starting up their own successful talk show.
4. Episode 320: "Tis the Fifteenth Season". How does Ned Flanders try to out-do Homer in the niceness stakes?

Answer: Buys everyone in town Christmas presents

Ned is jealous when Homer turns over a new leaf after watching "A Christmas Carol" and decides to be nice to everyone. Among other random acts of kindness, Homer gives Marge the last pork chop and builds a skating rink in the backyard for the whole town to come and use.
5. Episode 321: "Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays". We find out Luigi's (the pizza chef's) surname in this episode. What appropriately Italian dish is he named after?

Answer: Risotto

This episode features Marge's "Families Come First" initiative up against "Proud Parents Against Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens and Gays" (PPASSCCATAG). Bart and Lisa win the day by getting all the kids in Springfield to show up at voting booths to hug voters and distract them from casting their vote.
6. Episode 322: "I, (Annoyed Grunt)-Bot". How many Simpson family pets named "Snowball" die in this episode?

Answer: Three

Lisa is distraught when Snowball II meets her end; and even moreso when the same thing happens to Snowball III and IV. In true "Simpsons" style, Lisa decides to name Snowball V Snowball II, and to "pretend this whole thing never happened". Principal Skinner questions this, but then Lisa reminds him of his true identity revealed previously (and ignored since).
7. Episode 323: "Diatribe of a Mad Housewife". Marge is inspired to write what kind of book in this episode?

Answer: Romance novel

Marge's book is titled "The Harpooned Heart" and tells the story of a whaler and his wife. When people start noticing similarities with the apparently fictional characters and those in Marge's life, Homer becomes concerned and finally listens to the audio version (read by the Olsen twins).

It eventually leads to a stand off with Ned, but in the end Homer actually asks Ned to help him become a better husband.
8. Episode 324: "Margical History Tour". Which famous child prodigy musician does Bart depict in this episode?

Answer: Mozart

The episode is in three stories, told by Marge in the Springfield Library. It also features Homer as Henry VIII and Lisa as Sacagawea.
9. Episode 325: "Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore". When Milhouse moves away with his mother, who does Bart start growing closer to?

Answer: Lisa

Milhouse moves to Capitol City, until his father wins what he describes as "pity custody" and gets him back.
10. Episode 326: "Smart and Smarter". At the end of this episode, we are given confirmation that Maggie has the highest IQ of all the Simpson family.

Answer: False

Early in the episode, Maggie is found to have a superior IQ to Lisa. However, at the end, we discover that Lisa was unknowingly giving Maggie the answers in the test.
11. Episode 327: "The Ziff Who Came to Dinner". Artie Ziff, Marge's high school prom date, spends a romantic evening with which of her sisters in this episode?

Answer: Selma

Artie is on the run from the law for fraud and lands on the Simpsons' doorstep seeking refuge. Following Homer's arrest (after winning most of Artie's company), Artie eventually turns himself in.
12. Episode 328: "Co-Dependent's Day". Who gets drunk at Oktoberfest in this episode?

Answer: Both Marge and Homer

Marge ends up in rehab after Homer tries to drive home from the festival. Following the plot of many previous episodes, Marge forgives Homer and eventually comes home.
13. Episode 329: "Wandering Juvie". Which "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star plays the part of a juvenile detainee?

Answer: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Gellar plays Gina, a female 'juvie' who convinces Bart to escape the detention centre with her. Bart initially goes into juvie for setting up a fake wedding for him and his bride, "Lotta Cooties" (with a plan to exchange the gifts for store credit).
14. Episode 330: "My Big Fat Geek Wedding". Do Edna and Seymour get married in this episode?

Answer: No

The wedding, due to take place at the school gymnasium (where else?), is called off when Skinner gets cold feet. In a new twist, Edna starts dating Comic Book Guy when she returns his gift and they discover they have some things in common.
15. Episode 331: "Catch 'Em If You Can". Homer and Marge ditch their planned trip to Dayton for which much warmer location?

Answer: Miami

Marge and Homer narrowly avoid an untimely death when a tornado wipes out the hotel they were to be staying at. Bart and Lisa chase them all over America trying to catch them on the run.
16. Episode 332: "Simple Simpson". What is Homer's self-created nickname in this episode?

Answer: Pie Man

Homer seeks revenge on all sorts of evildoers by masking himself and delivering pies in their faces. All is going along well for him until Mr Burns hires him as a hitman and asks him to deliver a pie to the Dalai Lama. To his credit, Homer does not go through with it.
17. Episode 333: "The Way We Weren't". Was Homer's first kiss with Marge?

Answer: Yes

Homer kissed a girl he met at camp at age 10. He was at "Fat camp", she was at "Catch-a-man camp." He learns in this episode that this was indeed his future wife, Marge.
18. Episode 334: "Bart-Mangled Banner". What temporary disability does Bart acquire after receiving an injection?

Answer: Deafness

Bart doesn't realise the national anthem is playing and unintentionally moons the flag while it is playing (long story). This leads the rest of the US to accuse the whole of Springfield of being unpatriotic, and Mayor Quimby quickly makes some changes (including changing the name of the town to Libertyville, and setting prices for everything to $17.76).
19. Episode 335: "Fraudcast News". Who starts her own newspaper in this episode?

21. Episode 337: "All's Fair In Oven War". Who suggests Marge should enter cooking contests?

Answer: Ned

Marge enters the bake-off, only to discover that the competitors are all trying to sabotague her and each other. She is forced to cheat herself, but Lisa catches her in the act. This episode has a classic parody of the "Godfather" scene where Sonny Corleone is shot and killed at a toll booth.
22. Episode 338: "Sleeping with the Enemy". What one word does Ralph Wiggum say at least fifty times in this episode?

Answer: Duck

The episode title is an allusion to Nelson moving into the Simpson house (being Bart's enemy as a bully). Poor old Ralphie just doesn't get the game of "duck, duck, goose", wandering round the room repeating the word many times until Bart yells "say goose you freak!".
23. Episode 339: "She Used to Be My Girl". Who saves the day in this episode by flying a helicopter towards an erupting volcano?

Answer: Barney

Marge's old high school friend, Chloe, arrives in Springfield and Lisa immediately takes to her. Lisa follows her unwittingly to an erupting volcano, where Barney finally saves the day.
24. Episode 340: "Fat Man and Little Boy". Why does Homer get fired in this episode?

Answer: Wearing a t-shirt of Bart's design

Bart starts up a t-shirt business, but meets strong resistance from Krusty (who wants a monopoly on novelty items). Bart meets a very odd character named Goose Gladwell who agrees to sell his shirts in the 20 stores he has across 30 states!
25. Episode 341: "Midnight Rx". Mr Burns kisses Smithers in this episode.

Answer: True

Never thought I would see it, but in a scene reminiscent of Sleeping Beauty, Burns awakes Smithers with a kiss after giving him some life-saving medicine.
