Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 4, racers arrived in Jordan and were brought to which of these before obtaining their first clue?

Answer: A steam train

Leaving Florence, Italy and making their way back to Bologna to catch their charter flight, teams were informed by Phil that they would be flying, for the first time in "Amazing Race" history, to the Kingdom of Jordan. Upon landing, teams were taken to a steam train dating back to the Ottoman Empire and brought out to the Wadi Rum Desert where, after watching a group ride horse and camel-back alongside the train (a la "Lawrence of Arabia") they were given their clues and asked to depart in groups in the order they arrived at the previous Pit Stop.
2. In the Wadi Rum Desert, teams' Leg 4 Road Block had them searching the sands for which of these?

Answer: Metal

Opening their first clues, teams were told that they were in the Wadi Rum Desert and that they would need to hop into vehicles with a driver to make their way deeper into the sands; they would be brought to their next clue box directly. This clue box would contain teams' Road Block for this leg of the race, and this one needed a racer who 'wanted to test their metal'. For this challenge, teams had to search a desert movie set themed to look like an alien crash site and using a metal detector, they had to find a piece of debris hidden in the sand that would lead them to their next destination: Petra. Marcus, Molly, Abby, Luis, Quinton, Derek, David, Lumumba, and Linton completed this task.
3. Which team completed the 'Camel Caravan' Detour task in Leg 4?

Answer: Marcus and Michael

After driving an hour and a half through Jordan, teams arrived at Petra following their Road Block and made their way to a clue box waiting at The Treasury, right in front of Petra's most famous structure. The first options teams had was 'Camel Caravan', a task which required that they join locals in dealing with the ships of the desert. To complete this task, they needed to collect four bags of hay and provide water from a cistern (along with three jugs) to resting camels at a nearby marketplace. Marcus and Michael and Linton and Sharik completed this task, collecting a camel and bringing it to their station upon conclusion of the challenge.
4. Teams completing the 'Palace Puzzle' Detour task in Leg 4 had to finish a slide puzzle of what Petra site?

Answer: Palace Tomb

The 'Palace Puzzle' task was the alternative to 'Camel Caravan' for teams' Petra Detour, and for this one they raced to the Palace Tomb. There, they would have a twelve-square slide puzzle to complete which, when finished, would depict the Palace Tomb as it was believed to look when it was first constructed. Derek and Claire, Luis and Michelle, Emily and Molly, Abby and Will, Quinton and Mattie, Aubrey and David, and Glenda and Lumumba all finished this challenge.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Petra, Jordan at the end of Leg 4?

Answer: Linton and Sharik

Once teams completed their Detour tasks, they were given a clue sending them directly to the next Pit Stop amongst the ruins at Petra's Great Temple where the last team to check in would be eliminated from the race. The first team to land on the mat this leg was Luis and Michelle who, after completing their slide puzzle, beat Derek and Claire in a foot race to the Pit Stop.

This leg, they won themselves a cash prize of $5,000 USD. The last footrace was the decider as Aubrey and David were able to check in at the Pit Stop before father-daughter team Linton and Sharik who were, subsequently, eliminated.
6. At the start of Leg 5, teams were informed that production received confirmation of COVID-19. How many teams were eliminated from the race as a result of this?

Answer: One

At the start of the leg, teams were brought to their embarkation spot and prepared for a day of racing though unlike in previous legs, where teams were released in staggered groups, Phil brought all remaining teams together for an announcement. It was there that he informed the others of the positive COVID-19 test result amongst them. With Abby and Will on video call from their hotel quarantine, all were informed of their unfortunate elimination from the race.

Additionally, teams were informed that there would be no elimination in Leg 5 on account of the circumstances faced. They would, however, leave on Leg 6 in groups in the order that they arrived at the Pit Stop at the end of this leg with the final team to check in departing at a massive time deficit.
7. Teams raced through which Jordanian city in Leg 5?

Answer: Amman

Taking off from Amman Citadel overlooking the Jordanian capital city, teams received their first clue inside Umayyad Palace and were told that the entirety of Leg 5 would be completed on foot, exploring the sights and sounds of Amman while dealing with the city's overwhelming heat.

Their first destination was the Maktabat Khizanat al-Jahith Bookstore where they could find the next clue box located inside. It would be their Detour.
8. More teams completed the 'Step By Step' Detour task in Leg 5, and it involved which of the following?

Answer: Learning a traditional dance

Teams' Detour task in Leg 5 was a choice between 'Step By Step' and 'Letter By Letter'. In 'Step By Step', teams learned a flirt dance, a choreographed routine normally performed before wedding ceremonies in Jordan. Heading to the Roman Theater, they had to dress in proper garb and perform the dance properly to get their next clue.

In 'Letter By Letter', however, teams raced to the Odeon Theater where they needed to learn and recite all twenty-eight letters of the Arabic alphabet in order. David and Aubrey, Glenda and Lumumba, Quinton and Mattie, and Luis and Michelle went for the former task while Marcus and Michael, Emily and Molly, and Derek and Claire finished the latter.
9. In Leg 5, team members completing the Road Block had to build which of these devices?

Answer: Arabaya

When teams finished their Detour task in Amman, they were given their Road Block clue immediately and it fell to one teammate to be 'broken-carted'. For this task, both team members headed to the Al-Hashemi Street Park where the selected racer had to assemble an arabaya from scratch, hammering the pieces home, making a functional device, and loading it up before wheeling it all the way to their next Pit Stop. Michael, Molly, David, Luis, Claire, Quinton, and Glenda built themselves up for this challenge.
10. Which team arrived at the race's fifth Pit Stop in last place, receiving the latest departure time for Leg 6?

Answer: Glenda and Lumumba

Once teams had a fully-built arabaya they could fill up their devices with the necessary items and bring them along to the next Pit Stop, just under a kilometre away at the Roman Nymphaeum, and it wasn't an easy task due to team members' rushed workmanship on their carts.

The team that held it together the best in this leg was Luis and Michelle who, after reassembling their cart, arrived in first place for the second leg in a row and won enough Expedia Reward Points for a five-night trip for two to Barcelona.

The last team to check in this leg was Glenda and Lumumba and it meant that the pair would be leaving forty-five minutes after the first group in Leg 6.
