Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The race's first Road Block, part of the Scramble in Munich in Leg 1, had team members smash into which of these?

Answer: Ice blocks

Though teams could complete the tasks of Leg 1 in any order of their choosing, teams who arrived at the Augustiner-Keller Biergarten found a Road Block, and said tasks insist on only one racer taking part in the challenge. Here, team members were provided with a large block of ice and a bin of tools, and by any means they needed to collect a small capsule from inside, smashing the ice to reveal a puzzle piece necessary to help them locate the race's first Pit Stop.
2. The race's second Road Block had teams learning how to yodel in what country?

Answer: Austria

Racing into Innsbruck, Austria, deeper into the European Alps in Leg 2, teams stopped off at the fields of Grünwalderhof to complete a musical task. Here, dressing in Austrian garb, racers needed to join local yodellers and learn both the songs and the attributed actions for three specific yodels with phonetic help. If they could properly perform their yodels without messing up the pitch and the words, they could get their next clue.

The racers chosen for this task were Claire, Michael, Rex, Glenda, Linton, Emily, Dom, Aubrey, Abby, Michelle, and Mattie.
3. Visiting the Ducati Factory for a Road Block task in Bologna, Italy, team members had to do which of the following?

Answer: Build a motorcycle

Visiting the Ducati Factory, team members (Michael, Claire, Quinton, Luis, Will, David, Linton, Emily, Lumumba, and Rich) needed to work with their most mechanical mindsets to assist motorcycle manufacturers in creating their vehicles. After learning how to assemble the wheels and brakes for a Ducati Panigale V4, team members could get their work checked and then attach the bike's body panels. Once it was all set up, they could get their next clue and drive off to Florence for the second half of the Mega-Leg.
4. Arriving in Florence, team members had to work with sculpture for their second Mega-Leg Road Block in Italy. What did they need to chisel away at to make their sculpture?

Answer: Plaster

Teams continued their Mega-Leg heading from Bologna, Italy to the city of Florence and upon arriving at the Villa Bardini, racers had to choose one team member to create art. With a block of plaster and a handful of chiselling tools (and a mallet) they needed to reveal the sculpture within, chipping away at larger chunks and then tinier details to provide a smooth and intricate art piece. Once this was approved, they could keep on racing. If racers damaged their sculpture, they would be provided plaster to make their piece as close to the original as possible. Racers finishing this task were Marcus, Molly, Michelle, Sharik, Abby, Mattie, Aubrey, Derek, Lumumba, and Dom.
5. In the Kingdom of Jordan, team members used metal detectors to locate a metal plate bearing what name in Leg 4?

Answer: Petra

Racing into the Wadi Rum Desert in the race's fourth Leg, Marcus, Molly, Abby, Luis, Quinton, Derek, David, Lumumba, and Linton were selected to 'test their metal', by which the clue implied they would be taking metal detectors and searching the sands around a marked area for one of a handful of metal plates buried near the surface. Once located, the metal plates uncovered would bear the name of their next destination-- 'PETRA'.
6. In Amman, Jordan (in Leg 5), Road Blocked racers chose to complete a task based on who was which of the following?

Answer: 'Broken-carted'

And for this task, it only made sense that the selected racers (Michael, Molly, David, Luis, Claire, Quinton, and Glenda) were responsible for fixing said carts. Racing to the Al-Hashemi Street Park, racers completing the challenge were given the materials to construct an arabaya, essentially a dolly used to transport goods through the streets of Amman. Once they finished making a functioning machine, they could load it up and navigate with it to the next Pit Stop, the Roman Nymphaeum, about three quarters of a kilometre away on foot.
7. In Dordogne, France, racers had to memorize French family crests and then complete which of these before a memory test?

Answer: A rappel

Reaching the Château de Commarque in Leg 6, racers had to complete a unique memory task wherein one racer had to rappel 131 feet down the side of the château. The catch was that at the starting point near the top, they had to search through a massive family tree of French nobility spanning twenty-two generations of people to search for five that they would be tested on at the bottom of their descent, matching the names provided with the flags of their family crests. Getting all five would result in a clue.
8. Two Road Blocks were encountered by teams in Leg 8, the race's second Mega-Leg. The person who completed the first one could not complete the second.

Answer: False

The five remaining teams were sent to the south of Spain for the eighth leg of the race, a two-part Mega-Leg that sent them to Málaga and Ronda. The first Road Block as an early task seen in Málaga wherein team members had to use large glass panels to recreate Pablo Picasso's "Three Musicians" painting in the Plaza de la Merced.

The second, however, was a bit more harrowing, requiring that one racer traverse a tightrope beneath the famous bridge of Puente Nuevo. Anyone could complete either task; there was no restriction akin to those seen in single legs with two Road Blocks.
9. When facing the Road Block in Iceland (in Leg 9), all four racers selected were mandatory choices.

Answer: False

Going into the final leg of the race, teams needed to have as close to an even distribution of Road Block completions as possible and, to this point, that meant they would have eleven total. This meant that if any team went into the Icelandic Road Block having a teammate with six completed tasks, their partner would be stuck doing an abseil and canyoning run through Fljótshlíđarfoss.

While Luis, David, and Molly were selected to finish this challenge, Derek was required to complete it (since Claire had already completed six across the race thus far).
10. In Leg 10, team members' final Road Block task had them climbing and rappelling down a bridge in what U.S. state?

Answer: Tennessee

As night started to fall on the final leg, the final three teams had to race into Nashville, Tennessee and locate a clue box on the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge. There, Derek, Emily, and Michelle were selected to complete the last of twelve Road Blocks, and for this one they needed to harness up and climb the bridge to grab a Gibson guitar pick before rappelling back down to their partner at ground level.

This meant that each racer in the finale ended the season with six completed Road Blocks to their name.
