"Wednesday" S1:E2 "Woe is the Loneliest Number" Quiz

Answer: Rowan Laslow appears unscathed.

In the first episode of "Wednesday", Rowan Laslow is seemingly brutally killed by a monster that slashes him. However, when police investigate the crime scene they do not find Rowan's body and therefore think that Wednesday is lying about what happened. To make things worse for Wednesday, while she is talking to Sheriff Galpin, Rowan Laslow seemingly appears in the flesh having returned to Nevermore Academy.

After thinking she has lost her mind, Wednesday utters this quote from Edgar Allan Poe: "believe nothing that you hear and half of what you see".

Answer: Dr. Valerie Kinbott

Both Wednesday and Tyler see Dr. Kinbott because they are forced to do so due to past behavior and probation. During their second therapy session together, Dr. Kinbott tries to have Wednesday Addams explained why she lied about the murder of Rowan. Although no one else believes her, Tyler tells Wednesday that he believes her version of what really happened to Rowan.

Answer: Thing

After Rowan Laslow shockingly reappears at Nevermore Academy he is promptly dismissed from the school by Principal Weems. Wednesday finds this odd and tries to get more information from her but she is told it is a private matter. Wednesday tries to talk to Rowan as well but he doesn't divulge any information. Knowing that something is awry, Wednesday sends Thing out to follow Rowan's car. Thing eventually loses Rowan's trail after he enters a train station bathroom and somehow transforms into Principal Weems.

Answer: Psychic visions

Principal Weems tells Wednesday that she knows she has psychic visions because Wednesday knew a man had broken his neck in a car accident in spite of them not being able to view the man. Additionally, Principal Weems tells Wednesday that her running into the woods after Rowan because she knew he was in peril was another psychic vision of hers.

However, Weems cautions Wednesday that her mother Morticia also had psychic visions and they were often unreliable and dangerous so she has to find a way to quell or ignore them.

Answer: Beekeeping

Wednesday is relieved to see that there is only one other person in the beekeeping club at Nevermore Academy. However, this student, Eugene Otinger, is quite talkative and overly forward about how he loves that a girl has joined the club. Eugene tells Wednesday that bees are one of the few ecosystems in which females dominate.

Answer: Archery

Wednesday first comes across Bianca and some of her followers singing. Bianca asks Wednesday if she can sing to which Wednesday utters an inaudible sound that breaks glass but only dogs can hear. She then comes across Xavier who is practicing archery with a bow and arrow.

After he explains how to do it he hands it over to Wednesday for a try. Wednesday tosses an apple in the air and shoots an arrow through the apple into the bullseye. Xavier is quite impressed and smitten with Wednesday which annoys his ex-girlfriend Bianca.

Answer: Ghost orchid

Ms. Thornhill (played by Christina Ricci) asks her class if they know what a certain plant is to which Wednesday Addams responds 'Dendrophylax lindenii' which is the scientific name of the ghost orchid. Bianca explains that the ghost orchid is known for its adaptability and resilience but it can overtake other plants while Wednesday counters that it was discovered in 1854 and that the ghost orchid is nothing that a weedwhacker can't handle.

The tension between Bianca and Wednesday is obvious as their explanations about the ghost orchid are obviously jabs at each other too.

Answer: Serial killers

Enid Sinclair tells Wednesday that Thing (a disembodied hand) gives excellent neck massages and he is mad at her. When Thing tells Wednesday that she is stubborn, single-minded and obsessive she tells him that those are all traits of great writers but Thing counters that they are also traits of serial killers. Wednesday agrees and then has Thing explain how he lost the trail of Rowan. Unknown to both of them at this time, Principal Weems had shapeshifted into Rowan.

Answer: Coffee grounds

Tyler knew that both his father, Sheriff Galpin, and Wednesday were going to go back to the forest. Not wanting Wednesday to get caught, he sprinkled coffee grounds in the area so that the dog Elvis would smell that instead and not smell Wednesday Addams.

While there, Wednesday finds Rowan's glasses which have been shattered. When Wednesday picks up these glasses she has a psychic vision of Rowan talking to Xavier and plotting to kill her.

Answer: Nightshades

The symbol is faint on the drawing that Wednesday has obtained but it appears to be a skull with a plant around it and rays coming out. Ms. Thornhill tells Wednesday that it is a symbol of the nightshades, a club that had disbanded at Nevermore Academy. Cryptically, Ms. Thornhill also tells Wednesday that the most interesting plants grow in the shade.

Answer: Bianca used garlic to poison the former co-captain of the Ophelia Hall team.

While Wednesday and Thing are looking for a purple book in Rowan and Xavier's room, both Xavier and Bianca enter the room prompting them to hide under the bed. While hiding Bianca tells Xavier she will do whatever it takes to win the Poe Cup and that Wednesday Addams is an elitist and she can't understand why Xavier likes her. Xavier tells Bianca that he broke up with her because she always has to win and be perfect.

After Wednesday leaves the room she finds a crying Enid Sinclair who explains that her co-captain can't participate in the Poe Cup because she unknowingly ate garlic at dinner and it caused an allergic reaction. Wednesday tells Enid that Bianca is behind the garlic poisoning and that she will participate in the Poe Cup to defeat Bianca.

Answer: The Black Cats

The Poe Cup is a rowing race with no rules between the halls of Nevermore Academy that was first held in 1897. The team for Ophelia Hall are the Black Cats and the four rowers including Wednesday Addams dress up in outfits representing black cats. The Black Cats are able to win the Poe Cup and bring the trophy to Ophelia Hall for the first time since Wednesday's mother Morticia Addams was a member of the school.

Answer: You are the key.

Wednesday Addams gets visions at times when she touches things or people. When she touched her team's flag at the Poe Cup a blonde girl that looks like her tells her "you are the key". Wednesday does not know what this message means at this time and she eventually wakes up to bring her team's flag back to their rowing boat. Wednesday knows that she will have to analyze this vision later to dissect its meaning.

Answer: Snap twice

'Snap twice' is the answer to a Poe riddle derived from the first letters of solutions from the riddles of a book that is being held in the hand of a Poe statue at Nevermore Academy. After Wednesday snaps twice the Edgar Allan Poe statue moves aside and a secret passageway is opened up. Of course she then goes off and explores alone.

Answer: Tim Burton

Tim Burton was born in Burbank, California in 1958 and he made a name for himself directing fantasy and horror movies like "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) and "Sleepy Hollow" (1999). Interestingly, one of his frequent collaborators, composer Danny Elfman, also worked on "Wednesday". Burton directed the first four episodes of "Wednesday" while Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall would each direct two of the final four episodes of the first season.
