Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

1. Before the player can do anything at all at the very beginning of the game, a cutscene plays showing Wes at the Snagem Hideout. What does he eventually do here?

Answer: Rob it

Wes somehow sets off an explosion of some kind that destroys the structural integrity of Snagem's hideout. After, he is seen with a Snag Machine that he stole from the hideout, rushing to his vehicle and driving away with the stolen device.

2. Rui's first bit of screen time also involves Team Snagem, but in a much less dignifying way. What is Rui seen doing with two Snagem henchmen?

Answer: Get abducted by them

Specifically, Rui has been stuffed inside of a large burlap sack and is seen being carried by two members of Team Snagem. They claim to have abducted her due to her ability to see Shadow Pokemon. As Wes first arrives in Phenac city, he spots these two carrying and accidentally dropping Rui. He steps in to rescue her by defeating them in a Pokemon battle.

Answer: Identify Shadow Pokemon

The player is only allowed to 'steal' Shadow Pokemon away from other trainers. Wes does not possess the means to identify Shadow Pokemon, but from just one cursory glance, Rui can tell if a Pokemon is Shadow or not. This will come up many times in battle; if an opponent sends out a Pokemon which is Shadow, a brief cutscene will play showing Rui intensely staring at the Pokemon before proclaiming "Oh! A Shadow Pokemon!"

Answer: Snagem

Wes' background as a former Team Snagem member is touched on numerous times throughout the game, mainly towards the very early going.

Rui's grandfather is Eagun, the Mythical Trainer, and her grandmother is Beluh. The player will come across them a handful of times throughout the game.

Answer: Eight

This is a vehicle with a single wheel, no oil pan, and eight total engines. With how little Wes earns winning Pokemon battles, I have no idea how he could possible afford the upkeep that would come with eight oil changes that his vehicle would theoretically need. And I'm also very confused on how a one-wheeled vehicle with eight engines could even operate at all.

But that's this franchise for ya.

7. Wes manages to rescue Rui, but shortly after this sequence, they run into Miror B. Miror B orders his minions, Trudly and Folly, to do what with her?

Answer: Abduct her

Like Team Snagem, Miror B recognizes the danger Rui poses to Cipher's operation and wants her taken into custody. This leads into the game's de-facto tutorial battle against Miror B's henchmen.

Answer: Instantly purify a Pokemon

Typically, Shadow Pokemon must have their heart gauges completely emptied before they can be purified. The Time Flute skips this process entirely and can purify a Pokemon. There are three Time Flutes the player can get-- from Vander, in a chest at The Under, and at the very tippity-top of Mt Battle.
