Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. First found in the Good Egg Galaxy, Dino Piranha's egg is first cracked by which of these?

Answer: Mario

Certainly the interesting creature, Dino Piranha is a cross between a Yoshi and a Piranha Plant, and this massive plant-reptile hybrid can be encountered for the first time in the first Good Egg Galaxy Mission, early in the game. He's not a difficult foe-- you need to spin to hit his tail back at him a few times to end the battle-- but he is a recurring boss. You'll not only encounter him once more in a later Mission in this Galaxy, but again in a Fiery variant in the Melty Molten Galaxy much later on in the game.

The battle, in the first instance, starts when Mario flies onto his planet, crash landing onto the top of Dino's egg, cracking it open enough to make things happen.
2. To defeat King Kaliente, you need to spin to hit which of these projectiles?

Answer: Coconuts

In the third Mission of the Good Egg Galaxy (King Kaliente's Battle Fleet) he'll jet off to a fleet of ships and then to a large planet covered, on one hemisphere, with a pool of lava. This is the first home of King Kaliente, a lava-based Rocto who'll emerge to fire coconuts at Mario to keep him away. While some coconuts will be on fire, one will generally be a regular coconut, and Mario can spin to fling it back (sometimes volleying a few times) to hurt the boss.

King Kaliente returns in another variation in the King Kaliente's Spicy Return Mission on the Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor Galaxy.
3. How many Mandibugs are found in the Mandibug Stack in the Trouble on the Tower Mission (in Honeyhive Galaxy)?

Answer: Two

Mario's second venture into the Honeyhive Galaxy will have him ascend the windmill overlooking the area's main planet, and at the top of this he'll encounter a pair of foes stacked one on top of the other. By this point, Mario should be well-acquainted with the basics behind the Mandibugs-- they'll shoot outwards for a good chomping, but a ground pound on their back will put them out of commission. Mario needs to do that to these ones as well, even if they're higher up. Once he defeats the first, the second will get angrier (though the attack against it will stay the same).
4. The Bugaboom fires bombs at Mario during battle. What else can it do?

Answer: Fly

Found in the third Mission of the Honeyhive Galaxy, Big Bad Bugaboom, the Bugaboom seems to infiltrate the Queen Bee's otherwise idyllic land from its neighbouring planet, sending over Mandibugs and waiting for someone to fight it around the base of a large tree. Mario will need to head over there as Bee Mario, fly onto its back three times, and ground pound it until it gives up its Power Star.

This will be complicated by the fact that, after the first pound, it'll start flying and dropping bombs, leaving Mario to cling to honey patches on the tree to stay out of firing range.
5. Defeating Megaleg opens up which Dome in the Comet Observatory?

Answer: The Fountain

Found in the enemy territory at the far end of the Terrace's range of observing, Megaleg is the boss to beat when Mario visits the Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor galaxy. A massive robotic creature with several legs, Megaleg only needs to be scaled to its top once at which point Mario can let the robot be the destructive force. Megaleg will let loose several Bullet Bills, and using these Mario can not only blow up the barricades hiding the Grand Star, but the encasement that shelters it from harm. Collecting this will open up the next Dome, the Fountain, so that Mario can continue finding Power Stars.
6. You meet Kamella for the first time in the Space Junk Galaxy. Where do you find her the second time?

Answer: Deep Dark Galaxy

A large, purple-garbed Magikoopa, Kamella makes her debut in the second Mission of Space Junk Galaxy in the Fountain Dome, Kamella's Airship Attack, in which Mario fights her and her magic spells on the deck of a flying ship. Although she'll shoot fireballs (and spawn Magikoopas to do the same), she alternates between those and creating Green Shells, which you can easily toss at her a few times to claim a Power Star.

In her later appearance in the Deep Dark Galaxy, she appears in the first Mission, The Underground Ghost Ship.
7. Tarantox will only flip over if you hit its weak point, but where is that?

Answer: Rear

Found in the third Mission of the Space Junk Galaxy, Mario will reach Tarantox's web after flinging himself around the area in Sling Pods, crash landing on a massive web planet. A fight will ensue with a toxic spider beast (hence Tarantox) and Mario will need to use what he's learned about Sling Pods to succeed in stopping the creature. To win, Mario has to sling himself into the creature's glowing posterior, flipping it over to expose three glowing bulbs. Striking all three once will lead to a second round of the fight, but the gimmick is the same-- hitting all of them again means a Power Star.
8. What boss leads the Topman Tribe in Battlerock Galaxy?

Answer: Topmaniac

After Mario navigates around and through the fortress of Battlerock Galaxy a handful of times he'll come across the area's boss, Topmaniac, on an outlying planet in the third Mission (Topmaniac and the Topman Tribe). Topmen are somewhat easy to face off against as most of them can be deterred with a spin attack, sending them in the other direction. Topmaniac, however, is line with sharp edges, so Mario will need to stun him by jumping on top of him to get the opportunity. Topman returns for another fight in the Dreadnought Galaxy and is one of the most frequently-faced figures in the game.
9. Which of these is the only effective weapon against Bouldergeist?

Answer: Bomb Boo

Found in the Ghostly Galaxy, Bouldergeist appears in the area's third Mission and the fight against this mini-boss involves breaking apart the massive shell of hard rocks surrounding the ghost hidden within. To do this, you need to make use of black Boos that appear in the battlefield.

These explosive 'Bomb Boos' can be swing around and, when they collide with a breakable surface, they'll shatter it. Doing this three times to Bouldergeist's outer shell will break it, revealing a bombable red weak point, and doing this process twicee will finish the fight.
10. On which of these stages do you face Bowser Jr.?

Answer: Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada

Though both of these locations beget the thought of facing Bowser's son in battle, only the one actually has this fight, and it's the earlier of the two, appearing in the Kitchen Dome. For the Sinking the Airships Mission found here, Mario doesn't even need to bring down the floating fleet. Instead, he just needs to navigate his way to the furthest in the set and face off against Bowser Jr., tossing Green Shells at his ship in the distance until he's forced to flee.

Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor, found in the Engine Room Dome, features the return of King Kaliente for the boss battle.
11. Major Burrows, in the Gusty Garden Galaxy, will be found chasing which of these?

Answer: Star Bunny

Found on a large planet with a tree at the centre, Major Burrows is encountered in the second Mission of the Gusty Garden Galaxy, The Dirty Tricks of Major Burrows, in which Mario has to put his ground pounding to use by forcing the mole-like enemy out of the ground and making him vulnerable to spin attacks.

The only time this will be possible is when most of his body is out of the ground, so you'll need to lure him far enough out to execute this plan. He needs to be hit four times for the battle to end.
12. Is there a Daredevil Prankster Comet that revisits the fight against Baron Brrr?

Answer: No

Baron Brrr is only faced once in this game, specifically in the first Mission in the Freezeflame Galaxy, The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr. For this, Mario first needs to ascend the icy mountain that acts as a centerpiece amongst the planets of this Bedroom Dome Galaxy. Then, at the top, he needs to use an Ice Mushroom to reach the Baron and then use dextrous jumps and spin attacks to shatter the foe a total of three times.

While the Daredevil Comet is used for other mini-bosses, Baron Brrr's attacks tend to do less damage than others. The most likely to hit, a wave of cold energy, tends to knock Mario back into the pool below, but this doesn't cost him any life.
13. To defeat the giant Mecha-Bowser in Toy Time Galaxy, you need which rare Mushroom power-up?

Answer: Spring Mushroom

A unique galaxy build around different set-ups leaning into classic Mario, 8-bit adventures, and mechanized toys, the Toy Time Galaxy will start you off with a lengthy mission across the planets towards a massive mechanical being. Mario has to use the Spring Mushroom to bounce up to the top at different points, but part of the battle is in learning how to navigate different directions of gravity and in destroying key components with spin attacks and ground pounds.

This is one of the only 'bosses' in the game that doesn't require a special boss arena-- the being is so massive it might as well be a planet!
14. How many shell hits does it take to bring down Kingfin?

Answer: Five

Found in the Bonefin Galaxy on the edges of the map in the Engine Room Dome, Kingfin swims almost aimlessly around a spherical water arena. A massive bone fish, he will harm Mario if there are some too-close swimming approaches, but otherwise, Mario needs to dodge his Bonefin underlings in battle. To survive, Mario will need to balance his life, his air, and a number of Green and Red Shells around the battle area, striking Kingfin directly a total of five times to reveal the Power Star.

He can, otherwise, just dodge the other foes.
15. How many times will Mario face off against Bowser in the game?

Answer: Three

Bowser appears in three boss Galaxies: Bowser's Star Reactor, Bowser's Dark Matter Plant, and Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, and in all three cases, Mario will need to pick up new techniques with which he can face off against his eternal foe. The final of these battles, occurring on a trio of planets near the very centre of the galaxy, will decide the universe's fate and, if Mario is successful, he'll end up falling into a supermassive black hole (actually). Success means saving Princess Peach...and everything else.
