Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mario has many different identities and abilities. Which one of these is an identity Mario CAN'T be?

Answer: Metal Mario

Mario can't be Metal Mario because there is no such thing. He can indeed be Spring Mario, Boo Mario, Ice Mario, Fire Mario, Rainbow Mario, and Bee Mario. Some also say there is a Flying Mario, using a Red Star, but I am not sure of that. Each of these different identities can give Mario special moves, powers, and abilities.

The only way you can transform into one of these special versions of Mario is to collect a Mushroom with that symbol. For example to turn into Bee Mario you would have to find a Bee Mushroom.
2. Each time you start the game, how many lives does Mario have?

Answer: four

The lives you collected in previous times of playing do not accumulate. During the game, you can collect more lives but they will not be permanent and you won't have those extra lives back the next time you play the game. If you get fifty star bits you will get another life, or you can collect a green 1-UP Mushroom.
3. What color are pull stars?

Answer: Blue

Sometimes you have to get Blue Star Chips to repair a broken Pull Star before you can use it. They usually lead to something, which might be a Launch Star, a 1-UP Mushroom, or something else that may come in handy.
4. What is the name of the Luma that is always by Rosalina's side?

Answer: Polari

This Luma is the only Black Luma in the game and is Rosalina's trusted advisor. Although Polari is an elderly Luma, he knows a lot about the observatory and has lots of knowledge. If you talk to him, he will show you a map. The word Luma could be from the Latin word "lumen", which means "light".
5. How many stars do you need to finish the game (travel to the center of the universe and save Peach)?

Answer: 60 stars

Altogether there are 120 stars in the game. Wait, no, there is 121 stars! To unlock the special 121st star you must already have the 120 stars. After you get 120 stars, you unlock Luigi. If you beat the entire game with Luigi and defeat Bowser at the end, a new galaxy will be unlocked. That galaxy is called the "Grand Finale Galaxy." Finish that galaxy and you will get the 121st star!
6. Which of these observatory domes does not exist in "Super Mario Galaxy"?

Answer: Rooftop

There are many different observatory domes where you can chose what galaxy you wish to go to. The Rooftop is not one of them. Besides The Kitchen, The Terrace, and The Engine Room, there is also The Fountain, The Bedroom, The Gate, and The Garden observatories.
7. At some point in the game, you receive a letter from Bowser.

Answer: False

During the game you never get a letter from Bowser, but you do get a letter form Princess Peach and multiple times form Luigi. When it's from Luigi, it's saying how he's found a Power Star but does not know how to travel back to The Comet Observatory.

More than a few times, Mario has to come to the rescue and find Luigi! In Princess Peach's letter, she also offers five 1-UP Mushrooms(five extra lives). I would decline the offer and save them for the end of the game when you really need them.
8. How many Grand Stars are there in total?

Answer: 7 Grand Stars

A Grand Star is a larger, more powerful Power Star. At each of the seven observatories, there will be a galaxy where you must fight Bowser in order to receive a Grand Star. So beat Bowser seven times and then you will have all of the Grand Stars! Each time, it will be harder to beat Bowser and get the Grand Stars. Also, with each Grand Star you get, a new observatory dome will be unlocked. Finding all seven will restore...
9. Which of these is not an actual galaxy in "Super Mario Galaxy"?

Answer: Sweet Candy Galaxy

There is a galaxy called Sweet Sweet Galaxy, but I made up the name Sweet Candy Galaxy! There is some very unique galaxy names in the game, but usually it always fits the setting and purpose to that galaxy.
10. In "Super Mario Galaxy" there is a game called Ray Surfing.

Answer: True

There is four mini games that appear more than once in different galaxies. I would call these mini games and some might not. All of them are a little tricky to get used to. There is Ray Surfing, that happens in galaxies where they is water. There is also the Rolling Ball that has a Power Star inside. Also, there is Bubble Blowing where you are inside of a bubble and you can control where you move with air pressure.

The final mini game in "Super Mario Galaxy" is Bob-omb Blasting. Bombs will explode after awhile, so throw them or you will lose health!
