Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The game causes the player to play as a 'volunteer'. Volunteers, in past "Last Stand" entries were people thought to be immune to the zombie virus. That status has changed here. What does every volunteer share in common with one another?

Answer: They are doomed to die

Volunteers are people who came into contact with the virus somehow, but unlike others, didn't immediately turn for one reason or other. However, as the virus has been around for multiple in-game decades, this immunity is slowly wearing off. This becomes an integral part of core gameplay, as the player's volunteer will eventually die to their progressively worsening infection, prompting the player to quickly get a volunteer to an objective before they die.

If the volunteer ends up making it to the end of the game, they will be instructed to be a Guinea pig for a serum that the Colony is developing. The effects of this serum will always be lethal, meaning even if the player were to play absolutely perfectly, their character will always die at some point, guaranteed.
2. Supply is a useful form of currency. Which of the following is something it can be used to purchase?

Answer: Equipment to start the game with

What exactly can be bought is randomized, but it can potentially be useful items that the player will automatically, permanently receive at he start of each of their runs. This can even be useful items such as the U,P-45 SMG, allowing the player to start their runs off much more powerful as a result.
3. As the player reaches the boundaries of the Dead Zone, they'll come upon a HERC military checkpoint and will have to defeat their first boss zombie in order to advance. What boss is found here?

Answer: Charger

Chargers have a lot of health, move fairly quickly and deal tons of damage. They can also stomp on the ground to knock the player down, potentially creating a scary situation if the Charger is being helped by a large quantity of zombies. Taking them down quickly is very important. They can be detected from a distance by their incredibly loud breathing and snarling sounds.
4. Upon reaching the Mountains, the player will encounter their second boss zombie immediately. Who is it?

Answer: Leaper

Leapers are small, quadrupedal zombies which, true to their name will try and pounce on the player from a distance. If their attack hits, they'll temporarily pin the player down and deal moderate damage to them before backing off. Their attacks are telegraphed well, making them easy to dodge, and they have abnormally small amounts of health.

They are easy to handle alone, but in a horde can be lethal to face due to being harder to dodge.
5. The player will eventually make it to the Sunken City, where they'll have to deal with their third boss zombie. Who is it here?

Answer: Spitter

Spitters are regularly sized zombies gushing at the mouth with toxic waste which they'll try and spit at the player. If it connects, the consequences can be drastic, as it briefly accelerates their infection rate by an extreme amount if they don't have an active anti viral, and it deals lots of damage in general.

They are fairly frail and stagger easily, so a strong long rifle will make short work of them. However, they can ruin a run more easily than any other type of zombie, making them very deadly.
6. As the player reaches the final level, Hell, they've got one more boss zombie to deal with. Who is it this time?

Answer: Armored Charger

Armored Chargers are extremely threatening, dealing more damage than their early level counterparts and taking hits much, much more effectively. Gunfire will be useless barring the SR-110, so the player will need to get up close to this behemoth to come out on top.
7. In order to locate the source of heir strange radio signal and uncover the operations of a well hidden laboratory, the player will engage in a final boss battle with a former ally who had been using the lab behind the player and Colony's back the whole time. What traitor represents the game's final boss fight?

Answer: Doctor Stedman

Stedman works within the Colony's base of operations until the player first arrives in Sunken City. Here, the next time the player respawns at the Colony camp, they'll notice Stedman has randomly gone missing. As it happens, he simply traveled to his hidden laboratory in hell and attempted to concoct a cure to the virus.

His methods created the horrible boss zombies the player has had to face, but also were largely ineffective and unethical as well. Here, he himself will turn into a zombie that the player must put down.
8. Tending to the player's car will be important to make the long trek from camp all the way to Hell itself. The player will find themselves having to frequently loot this item to allow their car to function. What is it?

Answer: Fuel

The car needs fuel in order to drive. If the player runs out, they'll have to explore the area they've driven to in order to find more.
9. Batteries are an item of critical importance, providing the player with access to several important utilities. Which of the following is an example of an item the player can use a battery to acquire?

Answer: Antivirals

An antiviral temporarily renders the player immune to infection build up, in essence pausing the timer the player has before their character will die to the infection. Obviously, this makes them pretty useful, and given that they're most commonly accessed via batteries, keeping a supply on hand would therefore be a good idea.
10. After the player has successfully finished their first run, they'll return to camp and find a fan favorite, long standing member of the "Last Stand" franchise at large has paid the Colony a visit. Who is this?

Answer: Jack

Jack is the only character to have been in every "Last Stand" game up to this point, and this brief cameo served to ensure he could keep the streak alive. Here, he simply gives the player a brief synopsis of the events of games in the past as he introduces himself and thanks the volunteers for their work.
