Video Games L-P: 'L' Trivia

1. The game causes the player to play as a 'volunteer'. Volunteers, in past "Last Stand" entries were people thought to be immune to the zombie virus. That status has changed here. What does every volunteer share in common with one another?

Answer: They are doomed to die

Volunteers are people who came into contact with the virus somehow, but unlike others, didn't immediately turn for one reason or other. However, as the virus has been around for multiple in-game decades, this immunity is slowly wearing off. This becomes an integral part of core gameplay, as the player's volunteer will eventually die to their progressively worsening infection, prompting the player to quickly get a volunteer to an objective before they die. If the volunteer ends up making it to the end of the game, they will be instructed to be a Guinea pig for a serum that the Colony is developing. The effects of this serum will always be lethal, meaning even if the player were to play absolutely perfectly, their character will always die at some point, guaranteed.

The Backtalk mechanic requires the player to listen to what the opposition says, then correctly pick one of three dialogue options in response. For this, with one exception, two of the three options will be correct. In most of these Backtalks, if the player guesses incorrectly twice before guessing correctly three times, they will lose the Backtalk. When Backtalking Victoria Chase in chapter two, however, the player is given a little more leeway as they'd have to lose three times instead of two to fail the encounter.

Gizarov clearly didn't care about the villagers at all. He wanted the "Scholar's Crystal" for his use in his experiments. Gaining the king's trust didn't matter to him, as he was planning to seize the throne later.

"The Larkinor Quest", although a text-based game, is not totally without images - there are some illustrations of ennemies, buildings and landscapes, but there is only one animated graphic in the whole game. The interface of the game is designed to let experienced players play extremely fast - important information in sentences is colour-coded and always displayed in the same place, so an experienced player need only glance for a split-second at the screen to take in all that has happened. The game takes place on an island called Larkinor - later on in the game players can buy a boat and explore a second island.

Later, he stalks her and follows her into the Amber house, trapping her inside as he tries to basically force her to like him.

This is the event which of course sets the entire game into motion. Tyler is found dead on the floor with several bloody gouges, and Robert takes his identity (and his jacket) to investigate the circumstances of his death. No. 1 also becomes your compartment for the game, as it was Tyler's.

April is a Ryan by name, but not by blood. She is adopted and isn't terribly close to her family. A major theme of the game is April's self-discovery: finding out who she is and what she is capable of. April earns some interesting new names and titles as she makes her way in the game.

Hynen is a fairly small town, but has all the necessities you'll need to start your quest. If in need of healing, you can stay at the hotel. You can buy weaponry at the weapons store, which has a symbol that looks like a fist on its roof. At the tool shop, you can buy food, jewelry and various miscellany. You can save your game at the convenience store, where you'll receive a password allowing you to come back to the exact spot you were. This was rather revolutionary for the time, since many other hit NES games such as "Super Mario Bros" allowed no such save feature.

Although he does not fight in the battle directly after this cutscene, he ends up falling with Emma into an underground cavern and it's only after he mentions his surname and his search for his sister that she backs off him, since she initially thought he was a spy.

There's no merchant, Ardan appears slightly later in the game, and Bral is actually the leading commander of the pursuers who try to kill Landius under the command of Kreuger.

Non-subs can get up to 500 clicks a day per character. Later on in the game, extra clicks can be earned by wearing special boots. Subscribers gain 800 base clicks, plus 1 extra click per character level. There is no limit to how many clicks subscribers can get per day, although there is a level limit in the English version (lvl 100). Clicks are also collectable, you don't need to play them on the very same day. Non-subs can collect up to 5,000 clicks, whereas subscribers can collect up to 25,000.
