Video Games L-P: 'L' Trivia Questions

1. The game causes the player to play as a 'volunteer'. Volunteers, in past "Last Stand" entries were people thought to be immune to the zombie virus. That status has changed here. What does every volunteer share in common with one another?

From Quiz
"The Last Stand: Aftermath" General Quiz

Answer: They are doomed to die

Volunteers are people who came into contact with the virus somehow, but unlike others, didn't immediately turn for one reason or other. However, as the virus has been around for multiple in-game decades, this immunity is slowly wearing off. This becomes an integral part of core gameplay, as the player's volunteer will eventually die to their progressively worsening infection, prompting the player to quickly get a volunteer to an objective before they die. If the volunteer ends up making it to the end of the game, they will be instructed to be a Guinea pig for a serum that the Colony is developing. The effects of this serum will always be lethal, meaning even if the player were to play absolutely perfectly, their character will always die at some point, guaranteed.

2. New to the franchise, if Chloe ever had a time where she wasn't getting her way easily, this mechanic could be used to verbally destroy her opposition and get what she wanted. What is this mechanic called?

From Quiz "Life is Strange - Before the Storm"

Answer: Backtalk

The Backtalk mechanic requires the player to listen to what the opposition says, then correctly pick one of three dialogue options in response. For this, with one exception, two of the three options will be correct. In most of these Backtalks, if the player guesses incorrectly twice before guessing correctly three times, they will lose the Backtalk. When Backtalking Victoria Chase in chapter two, however, the player is given a little more leeway as they'd have to lose three times instead of two to fail the encounter.

3. April is a student at what school?

From Quiz The Longest Journey

Answer: Venice Academy of the Visual Arts (VAVA)

The Venice academy is not in Italy! It's in the US, in the city of Newport. Not necessarily Newport, Rhode Island, though. The game never specifies, and just shows us parts of the big, futuristic city that April lives in.

4. What mountain does Jack start next to in the game?

From Quiz Little Ninja Brothers

Answer: Mt. Epen

Having lived on Mt. Epen, Jack and his mentor discover that Chinaland has been invaded by a gang, and sets off to save Chinaland. Later on, if you return to Mt. Epen, you'll discover that your mentor has seemingly disappeared.

5. The main character in "LittleBigPlanet" is a very recognizable character. He has a little zipper on his body and button eyes. What is the main hero of the game called?

From Quiz LittleBigPlanet

Answer: Sackboy

You can dress your Sackboy in many kinds of costumes. There are also a lot of DLC costumes (for example a Spider-Man costume.)

6. What unusual item did the game come packaged with?

From Quiz Leather Goddesses of Phobos

Answer: A scratch 'n' sniff card

A novel idea at the time and one which helped against illegal copying of the game. You couldn't progress in the game without the card and identifying the various aromas. The game also came with a map, a 3D comic book and 3D glasses. In case you were wondering, the seven odours were Pizza, Chocolate, Mothballs, Perfume, Garlic, Leather, and Banana.

7. When the game starts, you playing as Nigel Danvers, arrive at the Sedgemarsh train station. What is the name of the town that you eventually head to?

From Quiz The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure

Answer: Saxton

Saxton will be the main area of play for you. You will reside in it for a few days and gain important information from this area.

8. Where does the game begin?

From Quiz Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

Answer: Briny Beach

The game begins at Briny Beach. Klaus has found a mysterious box and tries to figure out what is in it. However, to do that, he needs to use an invention called the smasher. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny each find one of the three required items. Violet then makes the smasher, and Klaus uses it.

9. Who is the main character of the story?

From Quiz The Last Remnant

Answer: Rush Sykes

The main character is, of course, Rush. He will always be in your party. He is fiercely protective of his sister, and although called "simple" early in the game, later his selfless bravery inspires those around him. He carries a talisman which protects him from harm.

10. The game is divided into episodes. How many "Lost" episodes are there for your character to explore?

From Quiz "LOST: Via Domus" for Xbox 360

Answer: Seven

They are "Force Majeure", "A New Day", "Via Domus", "Forty-Two", "Hotel Persephone", "Whatever it Takes", and "Worth A Thousand Words". Just like in the TV series, you start the game off inside an airplane and experience the crash of Oceanic flight 815.

11. During the beginning, when King Cleones offered General Gizarov a huge land called the Lottebile territory, Gizarov rejected the offer, and instead wanted to rule over a small, poor village named Gotaal. What were his real intentions?

From Quiz "Langrisser IV & V Final Edition" for PSX

Answer: He was after the "Scholar's Crystal" hidden in the village.

Gizarov clearly didn't care about the villagers at all. He wanted the "Scholar's Crystal" for his use in his experiments. Gaining the king's trust didn't matter to him, as he was planning to seize the throne later.

12. "The Larkinor Quest" is what type of game?

From Quiz "The Larkinor Quest" - Online Game

Answer: Text-based

"The Larkinor Quest", although a text-based game, is not totally without images - there are some illustrations of ennemies, buildings and landscapes, but there is only one animated graphic in the whole game. The interface of the game is designed to let experienced players play extremely fast - important information in sentences is colour-coded and always displayed in the same place, so an experienced player need only glance for a split-second at the screen to take in all that has happened. The game takes place on an island called Larkinor - later on in the game players can buy a boat and explore a second island.

13. What colored line would be used if it was a 'regular' line?

From Quiz "Line Rider" Stuff for PC

Answer: blue

The blue lines are used for normal speed and physics of the rider. If you draw a line left to right it will be a floor line, and if you draw a line right to left it will be a ceiling line.

14. At the beginning of the game "Loom", what is the time of year?

From Quiz The Enchanting World of "Loom"

Answer: Autumn

The adventure begins as our protagonist, Bobbin Threadbare, a young boy belonging to the Guild of Weavers, awakes from his slumber to find an enchanted nymph calling him to a meeting of the Elders in the main hall. It is autumn. Bobbin was lying at the foot of a tree, and hanging on one of its branches is the very last leaf of autumn.

15. What board game is Literati similar to?

From Quiz Yahoo! Games - Literati

Answer: scrabble

Literati and Scrabble are similar, but there are many differences also. The board is the same 15x15, but the letter distributions are far different. Yahoo! uses a random generator, but in Scrabble, there are set numbers of tiles for each letter, i.e. nine A's, 12 E's, etc.

16. Who is the princess who is from the other side of The Divide?

From Quiz Last Half of Lost Kingdoms

Answer: Helena

The Enchanter took her runestones.

17. Blackwell Academy plans to show "The Tempest", put on by the school's theater department. A character who evidently seems to have a bit too much of a crush on Chloe asks her to go to the production. Who does this?

From Quiz "Life is Strange - Before the Storm"

Answer: Eliot

Whether the player has Chloe accept or reject Eliot doesn't particularly alter the course of events within the game. Later on, Chloe can discover that Eliot has not only written dark poems about her, but has also seemed to try and find information about her online, having Googled her full name a total of six separate times. Later, he stalks her and follows her into the Amber house, trapping her inside as he tries to basically force her to like him.

18. In which compartment do you find your friend Tyler Whitney dead on the floor?

From Quiz The Underrated Genius of "The Last Express"

Answer: Compartment No. 1

This is the event which of course sets the entire game into motion. Tyler is found dead on the floor with several bloody gouges, and Robert takes his identity (and his jacket) to investigate the circumstances of his death. No. 1 also becomes your compartment for the game, as it was Tyler's.

19. What is April's last name (also a common male first name)?

From Quiz The Longest Journey

Answer: Ryan

April is a Ryan by name, but not by blood. She is adopted and isn't terribly close to her family. A major theme of the game is April's self-discovery: finding out who she is and what she is capable of. April earns some interesting new names and titles as she makes her way in the game.

20. The game features many towns. Which town is closest to the starting point in the game?

From Quiz Little Ninja Brothers

Answer: Hynen

Hynen is a fairly small town, but has all the necessities you'll need to start your quest. If in need of healing, you can stay at the hotel. You can buy weaponry at the weapons store, which has a symbol that looks like a fist on its roof. At the tool shop, you can buy food, jewelry and various miscellany. You can save your game at the convenience store, where you'll receive a password allowing you to come back to the exact spot you were. This was rather revolutionary for the time, since many other hit NES games such as "Super Mario Bros" allowed no such save feature.

21. What is the villain of the game called?

From Quiz LittleBigPlanet

Answer: The Collector

The Collector is an evil resident of the craft world who tries to collect everyone's creations. He has an epic final boss fight at the end of the game.

22. The game begins on Earth, in what town/city?

From Quiz Leather Goddesses of Phobos

Answer: Upper Sandusky, Ohio

Yes, the game starts in 1936 in Joe's Bar in Upper Sandusky. The game's writers had no particular reason for choosing it. Interestingly, Upper Sandusky has a better claim to fame, parts of the film "The Shawshank Redemption" were filmed there and many residents were extras.

23. After a while in Saxton, you soon discover that a long-lost treasure may be hidden somewhere around the town. It is a crown that originally belonged to who?

From Quiz The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure

Answer: Ganwulf

Ganwulf was supposedly one of the three Anglo-Saxon kings that founded Saxton and/or the area around it. Now his crown has been the subject of many fruitless treasure hunts.

24. When adventuring alone, the main character comes across a battlefield where a fight is about to take place. Why does he run down into the foray?

From Quiz The Last Remnant

Answer: He mistakes someone for his sister

Rush runs down after mistaking Emma Honeywell, a general of Athlum, for his sister. Although he does not fight in the battle directly after this cutscene, he ends up falling with Emma into an underground cavern and it's only after he mentions his surname and his search for his sister that she backs off him, since she initially thought he was a spy.

25. Rather appropriately, 'Lemmings' was released on which date in 1991?

From Quiz 'Lemmings' - The Computer Game

Gary Timmons and Mike Dailly were the driving forces behind the animation of the 'Lemmings' while Scott Johnston was the responsible for most of the background work. Oh and ... Scott's mum provides the voice effects for the 'Lemmings'.

26. When the main protagonist, Landius, and his brother, Ricky escaped from the invasion of Gotaal Village, they were rescued by a young man. Who was this?

From Quiz "Langrisser IV & V Final Edition" for PSX

Answer: General Lanford

General Lanford is actually the general of the federation army! He disagrees with Gizarov's actions that was causing the villagers to rebel, and helped them distract the pursuers from the village. There's no merchant, Ardan appears slightly later in the game, and Bral is actually the leading commander of the pursuers who try to kill Landius under the command of Kreuger.

27. The game's system has a unique concept, "clicks", the amount of times that you can perform an action with a certain character. How many clicks do non-subscribers get every day?

From Quiz "The Larkinor Quest" - Online Game

Answer: 400 + 5 x character level (max 500)

Non-subs can get up to 500 clicks a day per character. Later on in the game, extra clicks can be earned by wearing special boots. Subscribers gain 800 base clicks, plus 1 extra click per character level. There is no limit to how many clicks subscribers can get per day, although there is a level limit in the English version (lvl 100). Clicks are also collectable, you don't need to play them on the very same day. Non-subs can collect up to 5,000 clicks, whereas subscribers can collect up to 25,000.

28. What colored line would be used for acceleration?

From Quiz "Line Rider" Stuff for PC

Answer: red

The red lines are used to make the rider go faster. Drawing a line right to left would result in a ceiling line (the opposite of a floor line).

29. All members of the Weaver's Guild have been turned into swans! All except Mother Hetchel... What has become of her?

From Quiz The Enchanting World of "Loom"

Answer: Turned into a Swan's Egg

After reaching the Loom Hall, Bobbin witnesses a miraculous scene - the entire population of his village had been turned into swans and flown away. All but his foster-mother Hetchel. Hetchel is turned into a Swan's Egg, and only later will she hatch with Bobbin's help. The swans have all flown away, and now it is Bobbin's time to go and seek them.

30. What is the largest point value for one letter?

From Quiz Yahoo! Games - Literati

Answer: 5

In Scrabble, Q and Z are 10 points, but in Literati, Q, X, J and Z are only 5 points.
