SAAB has been a car producer since 1950. Since 1990 GM has owned 50% of SAAB Automobile.
2. Gothenburg, Sweden.

Answer: Volvo

Volvo also have factories in Kalmar and Uddevalla. Volvo was established in 1915, and mass production of Volvo cars started in 1927.
3. Togliattigrad, Russia.

Answer: Lada

The city of Togliattigrad (or just Togliatti) is named after Italian Communist leader, Palmiro Togliatti. Ladas have been produced since 1969 in cooperation with FIAT.
4. Plzen, Czech Republic.

Answer: Skoda

Skoda has been produced since 1925. From 1990s the factory has been owned by Volkswagen.
5. Eisenach, Germany (East, until 1990).

Answer: Wartburg

Wartburg was one of the cars made in the former DDR.
6. Zwickau, Germany (East, until 1991).

Answer: Trabant

The "Trabi" is the most famous ex-DDR car. Production was started in 1958.
7. Rüsselsheim, Germany.

Answer: Opel

The company was founded by Adam Opel in 1862. First they produced sewing machines and bicycles. Car production started ca. 1900. Opel has been owned by GM since 1929.
8. Munich, Germany.

Answer: BMW

BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke. It was founded in 1916, and it bought British Rover Group in 1994.
9. Stuttgart, Germany.

Answer: Mercedes

Mother company was named Daimler-Benz after a merger in 1926. The Porsche is being produced in Stuttgart.
10. Ingolstadt, Germany.

Answer: Audi

Four German car manufacturers merged in 1932: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. The new unit was called Auto Union. Auto Union restarted in Ingolstadt in 1949, and was taken over by Daimler-Benz in 1958 and by Volkswagen in 1964. Since 1965 cars were again built under the name Audi. Auto Union and NSU merged in 1969, and the company has been known as Audi AG since 1984.
11. Wolfsburg, Germany.

Answer: Volkswagen

Volkswagen was founded in 1937. They now produce Volkswagen, Audi, Seat (Spain) and Skoda (Czech Republic). The classic VW "Käfer" (Beetle) was introduced in 1938 and is still produced in Brazil and Mexico.
12. Solihull (by Birmingham), Great Britain.

Answer: Rover

Rover Group was bought by BMW in 1994. Rover also produces MG, Land Rover and Range Rover.
13. Luton, Great Britain.

Answer: Vauxhall

Vauxhall was founded in 1903, in Luton from 1907. Part of the production was moved to Belgium in 1970s. In this factory they also produce Opel, and the two models are almost identical. Vauxhall is only produced for the UK market.
14. Paris, France.

Answer: Citroën

The Citroën factory was founded 1919 in Paris by André Citroën. Peugeot took over the production in 1975.
15. Poissy, France.

Answer: Peugeot

Peugeot Citroën, Paris, produces Peugeot, Citroën and Talbot. Peugeot took over Citroën in 1975, Simca in 1978, then British Sunbeam and Spanish Barreiros. Peugeot also has factories in Mulhouse and Sochaux (France) plus Great Britain and Argentina.
16. Boulogne-Billancourt, France ( Just outside Paris).

Answer: Renault

Renault was founded by Louis Renault in 1898. It was taken over by the French state in 1945. The company also produces cars in Spain, Argentina, Turkey and Romania.
17. Turin, Italy.

Answer: Fiat

Fiat was founded in 1899 by the Agnelli family and is still controlled by it. Fiat also produces Lancia, Alfa Romeo (since 1987) and Ferrari.
18. Milan, Italy.

Answer: Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo was founded in 1909. It was taken over by Fiat in 1987. Lancia is also produced in Milan.
19. Martorell, Spain.

Answer: Seat

Seat was taken over by Volkswagen in 1993. At the same time the new factory in Martorell was finished.
20. Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Answer: DAF

DAF was bought by Swedish Volvo in 1974, but is now mainly owned by the Dutch state.
