5. At the start of the book Bilbo is visited by several Dwarves and Gandalf. Thorin Oakenshield and Gandalf arrive with the last group of 'visitors'. How many Dwarves came with Thorin and Gandalf?
From Quiz "The Hobbit"
Answer:
3
The Dwarves arriving with them were Bofur, Bifur and Bombur. Unlike other Dwarves, Thorin said nothing about 'at your service' since he was too important for that. He was Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thráin, son of Thrór, who had been King under the Mountain when Smaug invaded it and took it for his own. Thorin descended directly from Durin the Deathless, the oldest of the seven fathers of Dwarves. Bofur, Bifur and Bombur were the only Dwarves in the company not of Durin's line. They descended from the Dwarves of Moria but were not of Durin's Folk, who had founded Moria. All other Dwarves were of Durin's Folk. Ori, Nori and Dori were more remote kinsman to Thorin but the others - Fíli, Kíli, Balin, Dwalin, Óin and Glóin were closely related to him.
