'South Park' - Season 1 Trivia

1. "South Park" piloted with the episode "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" in 1997. Cartman was the first to be abducted, but who else was taken by the aliens?

This episode, created and animated entirely by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, featured many early appearances of South Park's most popular characters including Chef, Mr. Garrison, Wendy Testaburger, and Officer Barbrady. Cartman, of course, had to deal with having received an anal probe while the other boys dealt with their own problems (Stan had girl problems, Kyle's brother was abducted, and Kenny was killed). In the end, all problems were solved by activating the satellite dish hidden within Cartman; Ike was returned and the aliens departed...after taking Cartman with them via tractor beam and using Scott Baio to infect him with pinkeye. That's just how things go in South Park.

In an attempt to make the kids more interested, they are given pickaxes and encouraged to dig for fossils.

Cartman says that if a woman ever tried to hit him, he would tell her to "shut her mouth and make babies".

As seen in the show's second episode, "Weight Gain 4000", Mr. Garrison was convinced (by Mr. Hat) to murder Kathie Lee based on her upstaging of his ventriloquy act during a talent show; evidently he never got over it. Kathie Lee, of course, was brought in to South Park when Cartman plagiarized an essay for a contest. While Wendy Testaburger revealed the plagiarism at the end of the episode, long after Cartman beefed up on weight gain supplements for the cameras, no one really cared. Mr. Garrison didn't get to kill Kathie Lee; her people got her out of town after an errant shot from his sniper hit Kenny instead.

Cartman is having a tea party with dolls and stuffed animals, which is especially rare considering Cartman's personality and attitude. Kyle suggests to make fun of him, but Stan suggests to get help.

Pip is a character often depicted being bullied by the other kids. While the kids dig with their pickaxes, Pip yells he found one of the black triangles, and Cartman immediately claims it was his discovery. Cartman proposes a way of solving the problem: he would kick Pip in the testicles, and then Pip would return it, and the first kid to fall loses. Since Cartman started, we all know what happened next! After Pip lies on the ground screaming in pain, the rest of the kids laugh, and Cartman says he doesn't want the triangle anyway.

Mr. Garrison interrupts Cartman's invitation give-out and tells the students today is a very special day. Cartman replies saying that his birthday is not until Saturday, and Mr. Garrison makes it clear that it isn't what he is talking about. Instead, he introduces a new student, called Damien, who is wearing all-black clothes, and fire can even be seen in his eyes! When Mr. Garrison asks him where he's from, Damien replies, "The Seventh Layer of Hell", to which Mr. Garrison hilariously answers, "That's exciting, my mother was from Alabama".

Wendy encourages Stan to catch snowflakes with his tongue, so everyone starts doing it as well. When Kenny tries to do it, a bird defecates in his mouth... how gross! Meanwhile, Kyle tries to catch a snowflake as well, but Cartman interrupts him, telling him that "Jewish people can't eat Christmas snow", and Stan adds that he thinks "it's against the law". To clear it up, Kyle asks Officer Barbrady if it's illegal for Jews to eat Christmas snow, and Barbrady responds with "yeah"!

Answer: A retarded kid

Kyle says the ad promised that the elephant would be mailed in 4-6 weeks, but it only took three! His mother, however, tells him that they need to get rid of him. When the school bus arrives, the bus driver asks what the thing next to Kyle is, and he responds "the new retarded kid". Incredibly, the driver believes him and tells the elephant "sorry, little girl". Still, the elephant is told that he cannot ride the normal school bus, but the "special-ed school bus".

For some reason, Chef compares their upcoming game against Middle Park with "making love to a really beautiful woman". Pip approaches the coach, telling him that he doesn't have a helmet, and Chef answers that the school can't afford helmets for everyone. Pip suggests a rotation so that he isn't the only one that always winds up without a helmet, but Chef refuses.

As the boys keep mocking Cartman about his mom's comments, Kenny mumbles something we can't hear, but Uncle Jimbo thinks is disgusting. Kenny's comment angers Cartman, and makes him punch Kenny. Kenny responds and also punches him. Instead of stopping them, Uncle Jimbo says "that's the spirit boys, get that testosterone flowing!"

After Cartman starts making fun of Kyle and Ike, Kyle gets mad, holds Ike from his legs, spins him, and hits Cartman in the head! This moment was incredibly hilarious, especially because after this happens, Kyle plays an odd game called "kick the baby", in which Kyle literally kicks his brother, knocking four mailboxes in the process.

The principal asks the students to show the substitute the same respect that they showed Mr. Garrison, however, the kids point out they don't show any respect to Mr. Garrison. When Ms. Ellen walks into the classroom though, she attracts the looks of everyone, and Cartman says "she's pretty". The principal leaves some tear gas in her desk in case something gets out of control, but Ms. Ellen replies she'll be fine.

In "Volcano", the boys head on a hunting trip with Stan's uncle Jimbo (and Ned) but, as it seems, the nearby volcano is ready to blow its top. While the boys get trapped on the mountain, Stan worries that Jimbo doesn't like him and Cartman tries to convince the others of a local creature named Scuzzlebutt with a stick of celery for an arm and Patrick Duffy for a leg. When all seems lost for the expedition Scuzzlebutt weaves a wicker basket and saves them all...right before Stan shoots him in the head. Throughout the episode, the town prepares for the eruption based on Randy Marsh's seismology reports and, after watching an instructional film about volcanoes from decades earlier, follows the instruction to 'duck and cover' to escape. It works as well as you'd expect for the rescue teams. In the end, the citizens divert the lava floes away from the town with a large trench...leading it straight to Denver.

Mr. Mackey isn't surprised by the fact that something's wrong with Cartman, so Mr. Mackey thinks he is suffering from emotional distress. Mr. Mackey tells the boys to videotape Cartman, so he can psychologically analyze him. When Stan asks if that's legal, the counselor replies with "hell yes". The student waiting outside the office is Craig Tucker, a boy who is constantly seen there.

Some of the lyrics of Kyle's song include "it's hard to be a Jew on Christmas, I can't sing Christmas songs or decorate a Christmas tree". What about the poor houses that, that I pay for?" Wendy: "Many would rather die than go to those places!" Cartman: "Well, then, perhaps they should, and decrease the surplus population!" Mr. Garrison cut them off at that point, saying, "Okay kids, that's enough Dickens for one day."

Stan and Kyle told him it wasn't a cool costume, but Cartman was too busy ripping on them to care. Kyle had dressed up as Chewbacca, only to find it was the most used costume at school. Stan had dressed as Raggedy Andy because Wendy told him she'd dress as Raggedy Ann and they'd win the costume contest, but Wendy ended up coming as Chewbacca, so Stan just felt stupid and had to put up with a lot of mockery on his own.

As Stan's grandfather turns 102, Stan begins to discover how far his elder is willing to go to commit suicide...or have someone help him out. Soon, Stan and his friends all need to figure out what they need to do to make things right...all while avoiding missing episodes of their favourite TV show, "Terrance and Phillip". Unfortunately, while their parents (led by Kyle's mom) are all off fighting to get the show off the air for its vulgar jokes, the boys have to face the concept of euthanasia alone. In the end, Death arrives and chases they boys around town to take Kenny's soul, leaving Grandpa Marsh behind, but not before Great-Great-Grandpa Marsh imparts some words of wisdom.
