Dean and Sam usually used rock names as aliases, but sometimes used tv or other pop culture names. In picking names for credit cards, though, they tended to go for less obvious names. In this episode we saw that their father did the same for the latter.

While Dean discovered the dead vegetation around Angela's grave, Sam buried his father's dog tags. He told his mother he thought John would have wanted her to have them. The location of Lawrenceville was never mentioned, so I cannot swear that was where Angela died in the car accident, but I assume Mary Winchester was buried where she died.

David Tom played Curtis. Curtis was treated to a fake alien abduction by the trickster. The most horrible thing Curtis experience was a forced slow dance with an alien. David Tom played Billy Abbott on the soap "The Young and the Restless" before moving on to play Paul on "One Life to Live" and Chip Diller on "Veronica Mars".

Sam and Dean came to do an FBI "follow-up" interview with Ronald. They represented themselves to be Han Solo and Jack Ryan. Being a Sci-Fi geek, Ronald would have smelled something fishy if he had really read their badges. Harrison Ford portrayed both characters, Han and Jack, in several films. Ronald did describe the "ManDroid" with a terminator like ability, to which Dean offered that it was more like the "T2" mimetic poly-alloy version. Ronald agreed happily with Dean's idea.

Chris Jacot played Neil, whom she also murdered. Serge Houde played her father, Dr. Mason, and Leela Savasta played her traitorous roommate Lindsay.

Dean first saw the Reaper in its ghostly white, flowing body form. It scared him, as it was hovering over HIS body to take his soul. So, it turned tactic and made him think it was Tessa, another coma bound person in the hospital. Even caught in the ether, Dean was working hard against the netherworld. Dean read John Winchester's remarks about Reapers over Sam's shoulder, and then he realized he'd been tricked. He refused to go with the Reaper, but it told him he couldn't ever get back inside his own body. It had just about convinced him to cross over, when the demon invaded it and sent Dean back. Lindsey McKeon played Tessa. She also played Taylor James on several episodes of "One Tree Hill".

"The Usual Suspects" had the ghost of a murder victim trying to warn the killer's next victims. "Playthings" had the ghost of a child that drowned "Houses of the Holy" had the ghost of a murdered priest directing the faithful to kill sinners. "Roadkill" had the ghosts of a traffic accident. "Hollywood Babylon" had the ghosts of people that had died on a studio lot. "Folsom Prison Blues" had the ghost of a nurse that was killed in the prison. And, John Winchester appeared as a ghost in "All Hell Breaks Loose Part II."

She called on a demon to kill Lily. Sam initially believed it was yellow eyes who killed Lily because she tried to leave. Then he later found out that Ava had long since honed her own powers. Andy was the only other person to be killed by a demon, when Ava summoned one to come after him. Jake killed Ava when he broke her neck and saved Sam in the process. Jessica Harmon played Lily and Katharine Isabelle played Ava.

John summoned the fire demon he and the boys had been after all of season one. He went down into the hospital boiler room to do this. He offered the demon the colt and its one remaining bullet, if it could save Dean's life. The demon said he knew someone who could do it, but the colt was not enough. So, in an unseen agreement, John agreed to allow the demon to kill him. The demon went into the reaper, sent Dean's soul back into his body, and then John handed over the colt. Moments later we see Sam find his father's body, and then the medical team pronounces the death as 10:41 am. We do not know yet know if John had to sacrifice only his life, or he had to hand over his soul as well. Maybe we'll see actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan again, as a spirit guide for his sons. I hope so. I have seen him die in every series I've seen him in- "Weeds", "Grey's Anatomy", and "Supernatural".
