1. Who died in the hospital despite being expected to survive?

Answer: Colonel Dubaku

Colonel Dubaku died in the 11th hour of Day 7 when one of General Juma's men was sent undercover as a hospital orderly to kill Dubaku in his hospital room. FBI analyst Sean Hillinger was alive when he was last seen in the 10th hour as he was under arrest for aiding terrorists. Both Ethan Kanin and Tim Woods were alive at the White House in the last hour of Day 7.

Answer: At a Senate hearing on CTU human rights abuses

Jack Bauer had been subpoenaed to testify on his actions while he had worked at the now-deactivated CTU. Senator Mayer was heading the committee and was pushing for prison time for Bauer. Bauer's appearance in front of the Senate was cut short when his assistance was needed with a national security issue.

Bauer explained to Walker that he had to help Almeida because his daughter was being threatened. When Almeida brought Bauer to Bowden's vehicle, she asked why Almeida didn't kill him on the spot, and Almeida replied that they could "harvest" the agent from Bauer's body.

Jack Bauer had read Senator Mayer's files and knew that Starkwood's Chairman of the Board, Douglas Knowles, had been helping Mayer in his investigation. Bauer contacted him, and he agreed to help them find the weapons. While Larry Moss and the troops were leaving, Moss created a diversion to allow Tony Almeida to slip back into the warehouse. Knowles found Almeida and led him to the location where the weapons were located.

Larry Moss had called Ethan Kanin to tell him about Senator Mayer's death and to tell him that Jack Bauer was the main suspect. Kanin was the one who authorized Jack Bauer's release, so he realized that he was to blame. He told President Taylor that he would be a liability to her so he needed to resign to prevent damage to her administration. She tried to talk him out of it, but she ended up accepting his resignation.

President Taylor asked General Juma to release the hostages since he had captured her, and she was his target. He said he would release one hostage, and he picked a man out of the crowd. He then brought the man in front of President Taylor and shot him.

The orderly was working for General Juma, and he spoke with Juma soon afterwards and reported that Dubaku was dead. She investigated and found a picture of the orderly from a security camera, and after determining that he didn't work there, she found another picture of him leaving the hospital.

Colonel Ike Dubaku realized that his operation in the U.S. was falling apart, especially since his girlfriend's sister, Rosa Donoso, had threatened to report him to the authorities, so he decided to leave the country. He asked his girlfriend, Marika Donoso, to leave with him that evening. She went home to pack, but before she could leave, Jack Bauer and Renee Walker burst into the apartment. They found her because Dubaku had been using Donoso's address for his banking transactions.

Since President Taylor was not agreeing to his demands to remove American troops from Sangala, Colonel Dubaku was going forward with his plans to use the firewall override device to attack American assets. He wanted a target that would result in a lot of casualties, and the Boyd Chemical plant near Kidron, Ohio, was chosen. The estimated death toll from the initial attack and from the spread of toxic fumes in the surrounding areas was over 15,000 people.

Renee Walker had taken Janis Gold with her to question sniper Alan Tanner in his hospital room. When his lawyers arrived at the hospital, Walker asked Gold to delay them so that she (Walker) could continue her interrogation. She pressed a gun into his wound to try to get him to talk, and when that didn't work, she cut off his oxygen supply. Tanner's lawyers had filed a complaint with the Attorney General, so personnel from that office had come to the FBI to question Walker.

Answer: Removal of American troops from the Sangala region

Colonel Ike Dubaku, General Juma's right hand man, called President Taylor and gave her his demands. He wanted the U.S. troops withdrawn from the region near Sangala. President Taylor didn't want to do so and wanted to avoid responding to the demands until the last minute, in the hopes that the FBI could recover the device.

The CIP firewall protected infrastructure within the country, including the national power grid, water treatment and distribution systems and transportation systems. Since Latham had worked on the project to install the firewall, the terrorists knew he could build a device to override it. He was forced to do so, and the terrorists tested it on the air traffic control system.

The fictional sub-Saharan country of Sangala was a democratic nation being threatened by a military coup. Based on its observation of Greenwich Mean Time, it appeared to be located on the west coast of Africa. The African countries of Rwanda, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire were all possible models for the creation of Sangala.

Janis Gold was talking to John Brunner, the chemical plant manager in Ohio. Colonel Ike Dubaku had used the firewall override device to take control of plant operations and was trying to blow up a tank containing highly toxic pesticide. Brunner kept referring to Gold as "honey", and despite the emergency with which they were dealing, she felt the need to let him know she didn't like being talked to that way.

Henry Taylor spent most of Day 7 in the hospital after being shot in the chest by one of Dubaku's men, but he was alive at the White House at the end of Day 7. Secret Service Agent Brian Gedge died in the 6th hour at Samantha Roth's apartment when he fell from a loft while wrestling with Henry Taylor. David Emerson died in the 6th hour after being shot by Tony Almeida as Emerson was about to kill Jack Bauer. Firewall developer Michael Latham died in the 7th hour when the bomb that was strapped to his chest by Dubaku's men detonated.

Tony Almeida had allegedly died several years earlier at CTU, but it turned out that he was revived after being smuggled out of the building. He had been working with a crew doing a number of "bad things", as he put it. He appeared to be working with the terrorists at the beginning of Day 7, and Jack Bauer was asked to help find him.

Aaron Pierce had begun to suspect that Olivia Taylor was involved in Jonas Hodges' death. He knew there was a recording device in Ethan Kanin's office so he called Kanin to ask him to access it. Kanin needed to do so in person as it required his thumb print to open.

The CTU servers had been set up at the FBI per President Taylor's instructions, and the FBI was using them to monitor Muslim extremists in the area. Chloe O'Brian found the files linking Jibraan Al-Zarian to extremist activities. Jack Bauer believed that he was their man and went looking for him. O'Brian later found out the files were actually just put on his computer and backdated and let Bauer know that Al-Zarian was being set up.

Jonas Hodges' lawyer had been ambushed at her house and a replacement, Cara Bowden, was sent to meet with Hodges while he was in custody at the White House. Bowden told Hodges that the other conspirators weren't pleased with him for his actions that day. Hodges apparently was not supposed to use the biological agent to threaten the United States at that time. In order for his family to be kept safe, he was told that he would need to take the pill which would give him an honorable death.

Answer: Reporter Ken Dellao wanted to meet with her to get information.

Reporter Ken Dellao had a source in customs yard who told him that there was a firefight and that weapons of mass destruction had arrived at the port. Dellao told Olivia Taylor that he wanted information on it, or he would tell her mother about her involvement in having Ethan Kanin resign. She agreed to meet with him and she told him everything but asked him to keep it quiet. He agreed to cancel the story if she rekindled their relationship. She recorded their meeting and threatened to use it against him if he ran the story.

Answer: They bribed the night watchman.

Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida had arrived at the yard before Hodges' men, and the night watchman told them that he was being paid to open the gate for the men; they had told him they were picking up an electronics shipment. When the men arrived, Bauer told the watchman to let them in. After the men found the container with the weapon, one of them went to kill the watchman, but Bauer rescued him.

Janis Gold had noticed that a line was missing from the list of government conspirators obtained from Colonel Ike Dubaku. She brought it to Chloe O'Brian's attention, but O'Brian didn't seem concerned, which made Gold suspicious. She monitored O'Brian's phone calls and heard her telling Jack Bauer that someone in the FBI had realized that she had deleted the line. Gold told Larry Moss, and he had O'Brian taken into custody so that he could figure out what she was up to.

Answer: Chloe O'Brian

Since Colonel Ike Dubaku had a source inside the FBI, Bill Buchanan asked to have one of his people installed there to run the technical support. Larry Moss told Janis Gold that Chloe O'Brian was there as a consultant from Homeland Security who was looking for breaches in the firewall. Gold was suspicious of O'Brian, so she asked for Sean Hillinger's help in accessing the network that O'Brian was using. She told Hillinger that she thought Moss was looking to replace her.

Answer: Taylor was the only one who could convince his wife to abandon the Sangala invasion plans.

As with most of the President Taylor's cabinet, Ethan Kanin was against the humanitarian invasion into Sangala because Colonel Ike Dubaku would launch attacks within the United States if Taylor didn't withdraw American troops from the region. Kanin believed that the president would listen to her husband if he reasoned with her, so Kanin was trying to reach him. Unbeknownst to Kanin, Henry Taylor had been attacked in Samantha Roth's apartment by his Secret Service agent, Brian Gedge. They had both fallen over a railing, with Gedge dying and Taylor being knocked unconscious.

Answer: They made a toxic gas from household chemicals and flushed them out.

Jack Bauer knew that they needed to get former Sangalan Prime Minister Matobo to use as bait to get to Colonel Ike Dubaku, so Bauer had to get him out of the safe room. The walls of the safe room were made of reinforced concrete, and the door could only be opened from the inside. Bauer suggested that they make a toxic gas out of household chemicals to flush the Matobos out. The gas worked, and Matobo's wife unlocked the door as they were succumbing to the fumes.

Answer: Almeida was working undercover against the terrorists.

While Jack Bauer was choking Tony Almeida, Almeida whispered the words "Deep Sky" to Bauer. This was an old CTU emergency code used when a person was working undercover. Bauer called a number linked to the code and reached Bill Buchanan. Buchanan was running the operation along with Chloe O'Brian because there were people in the President's inner circle and in the FBI who were working with the terrorists.

Answer: They discovered that Tony Almeida was alive and was working with terrorists.

According to Renee Walker, Tony Almeida had been whisked away by emergency personnel before Jack Bauer could verify that Almeida was dead. After he had been captured on film with the terrorists, she had confirmed that it wasn't Almeida's body that was buried in his grave. Jack Bauer didn't believe that Almeida would have turned against his country, but as Walker pointed out, he had every reason to do so, given his wife's death at the hands of former President Charles Logan and given the relatively light sentence that Logan received.
