Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. lie can't rope

Answer: lycanthrope

Zeus turned a king named Lycaon into a wolf when the king tried to serve his son as dinner to Zeus in a sign if disrespect. Lycanthropes or werewolves can change into wolves or have wolf-like characteristics. Belief in lycanthropy is more rooted in folk legend than in characters from horror movies. Native people from the Indies, South Pacific, Europe, North and South America and Africa all have similar stories of humans becoming animals and vice versa.

The soul plays a big part in many of these stories; where it starts, ends, how it migrates between bodies.
2. suck you bust

Answer: succubus

A succubus is a beautiful woman in folklore. This female demon or spirit takes the form of a desirable and comely woman to entice men. Succubi collect semen from human men and demons then deposit that semen in human females. The children from these encounters are called cambions. Lilith may be the most well known succubus. Some believe she tempted Eve to eat the apple.
3. know home

Answer: gnome

What are gnomes exactly? They are tiny old men that guard treasure. Gnomes are sometimes confused with ogres or goblins or trolls or orcs. It really can be difficult to tell them apart. I hope you won't ever have to differentiate.
4. yea tea

Answer: yeti

Yeti, Abominable Snowman, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, these all seem to be 'brothers from different mothers'. Bigfoot and Sasquatch 'live' in the American northwest, Yeti and Abominable Snowman 'live' in the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet. All are hairy, ape-like creatures that walk upright like a man.

There are numerous sightings, photos, footprints, and hair samples but no one has ever captured anything except 'images'.
5. book key mon

Answer: bogeyman

Not everyone calls him the same name but most cultures have something like him. He lives in the dark, under your bed, in your closet, in the shadows in the corners of your room. Parents or siblings or peers tell you the bogeyman (also spelled bogieman, boogeyman, and boogieman) will get you if you don't stop sucking your thumb, or wetting your bed, or don't close your eyes and go right to sleep, or stop crying, and on and on.

He doesn't have a recognized form or look. He is what you imagine him to be, he can even be a she.
6. dry gone

Answer: dragon

A dragon is a serpent-like creature. Just imagine a huge snake or reptile with wings and flames coming from its mouth. Many ancient cultures including Asian, European, and Indian have stories and reproductions of dragons. Some dragons are depicted without legs but most of two or four legs.

Some have more than one head. Wyvern, basilisk, hydra, and tarragon are all names for dragons, each having a particular characteristic to make it unique.
7. goads hill lah

Answer: godzilla

Godzilla is over 50 years old but compared to most of the other monsters in my quiz, he's a youngster. He is, however, awfully big for a kid, 160 to 330 feet tall and weighing in between 20000 and 60000 tons. This Japanese creature first appeared in the movies in 1954.

Originally, Godzilla was supposed to be a cross between a gorilla and a whale and was the result of nuclear explosions. He ended up looking like a giant, gray dinosaur that walked upright. Godzilla started out as an evil force but as new threats were created for him to fight, he became the hero and a whole new world of creatures (Mothra, Rodan-friend/foe, Gigan, and many more) were introduced to movie goers.
8. duh mom me

Answer: the mummy

Everyone must know that the mummy movies are based on ancient Egyptian culture. These movies caused me to be interested in all things Egyptian, and eventually, ancient history. And my mom said nothing good would come from watching all those Friday night horror movies. King Tut's tomb was unearthed in 1922 and caused a stir all around the world.

In 1932, Hollywood produced the first mummy movie. It starred Boris Karloff. In the 40's, more mummy movies were released. In the 50's and 60's, Hammer Studios in England took up the linen strips and produced several more mummy movies. 'The Mummy' was released again in 1999 and spawned sequels and prequels. You can't keep a good mummy down! !
9. eye gore

Answer: Igor

Poor Igor, he's usually not the 'main monster' and much of the time, he has a hunchback. The name has become synonymous with ugly or deformed assistant or butler. Bela Lugosi played a character named Ygor in some Frankenstein films. There was an Igor in a couple of wax museum films, and Marty Feldman played Igor in Mel Brook's movie, 'Young Frankenstein'.

He insisted that his name was pronounced EYE GOR rather that E GORE and occasionally moved his hump from one side of his back to the other.
10. leapt rah con

Answer: leprechaun

A leprechaun is an Irish fairy. Most of us think of Tinkerbell or Peter Pan and fairy dust when we think of fairies but movie makers have shown us that they can be malevolent and evil. The earliest mention of leprechauns dates back to the 13th century. Folklore says that leprechauns live alone, make shoes, and watch after the pot of gold that is waiting at the end of a rainbow.

They are small, child-like creatures, usually less than three feet tall, wrinkled and bearded faces, and until the 20th century, dressed in red. If a human encounter a leprechaun, he can grant that person three wishes. If you're wishing for more questions on this quiz, I have to disappoint. Sorry!.!
