Felix the Cat is one of the more well known of the original animated cartoon characters from the 1910s. Felix debuted in 1919 in the silent animated short entitled "Feline Follies". He was created by Australian cartoonist Pat Sullivan. The first animated cartoon ever, "Fantasmagorie", debuted in France in 1908.
2. 1928
Answer: Mickey Mouse
The iconic Mickey Mouse debuted in 1928. He was first featured in the Walt Disney animated short entitled "Steamboat Willie", which also happens to be the first animated short to feature sound. He has since become the face of a multi-billion dollar media powerhouse whose goal is to entertain the world, children and adults alike.
3. 1933
Answer: Popeye
Popeye the Sailor made his debut in a newspaper comic strip in 1929. He made his animated cartoon debut in a Betty Boop cartoon short in 1933. Both characters were created by cartoonist Max Fleischer. Popeye is famous for eating spinach, which gives him a boost of strength when taking on bullies such as his rival Bluto. Daffy Duck and an early version of Bugs Bunny also debuted in the 1930s.
4. 1943
Answer: Droopy
Droopy Dog was created by famed animator Tex Avery in 1943. The 1940s were considered the Golden Age of animated cartoons. Tex Avery has been involved with many other iconic characters from both Warner Bros and Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer (MGM), including Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Chilly Willy.
5. 1958
Answer: Yogi Bear
The 'smarter than the average' Yogi Bear was created by Hanna-Barbera. He debuted in 1958 in a cartoon short featuring Huckleberry Hound. Yogi would later receive his own series. Yogi lives in Jellystone National Park with his sidekick Boo-Boo, where he drives the park ranger crazy with his antics.
6. 1963
Answer: Pink Panther
The Pink Panther cartoon character began life as a mascot, who featured in the credits of the "The Pink Panther" comedy crime film series beginning in 1963. The popularity of the movies and of the cartoon character itself led to the character to receive an animated show of his own in 1969.
7. 1974
Answer: Hong Kong Phooey
Hong Kong Phooey is a cartoon character created by Hanna-Barbera. He debuted in his own Saturday morning series in 1974. Hong Kong Phooey was a police janitor who became a crime-fighting karate expert. His series only lasted 16 episodes, but he would be featured in other Hanna-Barbera series, such as "Laff-A-Lympics".
8. 1981
Answer: The Smurfs
"The Smurfs" were originally comic strip characters created by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford (aka Peyo). They made their animated series debut in 1981. "The Smurfs" were small blue humanoid creatures who were all male, except for Smurfette (and one of the Smurf kids). They were hunted down by the evil Gargamel, who wanted to have them over for dinner, literally.

Answer: Johnny Bravo
Johnny Bravo debuted on Cartoon Network in 1995 as part of their "What A Cartoon!" series. The "What a Cartoon!" series was an attempt by Hanna-Barbera to introduce new cartoons to television in addition to the plethora of classics that the Cartoon Network had access to. "Dexter's Laboratory", "The Powerpuff Girls" and "Cow and Chicken" are some other notable series to debut on "What a Cartoon!".
10. 2005
Answer: Ben 10
"Ben 10" was an animated series that debuted on the Cartoon Network in 2005. The series focuses on Ben Tennyson, a young boy who is able to shape-shift into ten different alien bodies. The original series ran until 2008 and was followed by three sequel series before being completely rebooted in 2016.
