Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Appearing in 1960s Hanna-Barbera cartoons, whose little whelp was Bamm-Bamm?

Answer: The Rubbles

Bamm-Bamm was actually adopted by Barney and Betty Rubble after he was left on their doorstep. He was a bosom buddy of the Flintstone's baby, Pebbles. He got his name from the way he swung his wooden club, and cried out "bam! bam!". He appeared in the original series in the 1960s, and as a teenager in a spin-off in the 1970s.
2. Who doesn't hound Homer and Marge Simpson because she rarely speaks?

Answer: Maggie

Margaret (Maggie) Evelyn Simpson first appeared in the impsons in the episode "Good Night", in 1987, when she becomes terrified by the lyrics of "Rock-a-bye Baby". All the kids end of sleeping in their parents' bed. She sucks loudly on her dummy (pacifier) but doesn't talk often. Though always depicted as an immature child, she paradoxically is also a good shot with a hand gun in "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" Maggie was given her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000.
3. Complete with tail and fins, who is the son of Marlin?

Answer: Nemo

Nemo is a clownfish and, as such, he does have a fin but, in his case, it's a bit of a dud and it can cause him problems. Nemo is also adventurous and loves exploring which antagonises his father. Nemo's dad ends to be over-protective as, after losing his wife and all their other eggs in a barracuda attack, Nemo is all he has got.
4. Which giant package was the son of Papa and Mama Duck?

Answer: Baby Huey

First appearing in a theatrical short in 1950 called "Quack-a-Doodle-Doo" he is massive for his age. Whilst he just wants to be like other kids, his naivety sees him cause more problems, and it is usually at the expense of his friends, than he solves.

The bonus for his friends is that they are constantly pursued by a hungry fox, however, when the fox sees Huey, he also sees the dinner to end all dinners and turns his attention away from them.
5. Which little bluey was created by Pierre Culliford (Peyo)?

Answer: Baby Smurf

Peyo was the Belgian creator of the Smurfs, a race of dwarf-like creatures living in Belgium. In all, there were over a 100 Smurfs characters, whose names match their temperaments. The Phrygian caps they wear are associated with the French Revolution as a symbol of freedom. A 'real' Smurf village was created in Juzcar in Andalusia, in southern Spain.
6. Which salty sea-dog named his son "Swee'Pea"?

Answer: Popeye

Well, which is worse? His real name - Scooner Seawell Georgia Washenting Christiffer Columbia Daniel Boom - or his nickname, Swee'Pea? Appearing originally with his parents in the Thimble Theatre and Popeye cartoon strips, they moved to television in 1960.

He was left on the doorstep of Popeye and Olive Oyl and was really the son of the King and Queen of Demonia, Swee'Pea even got his own comic in the 1940s. In some sources, he was also listed at Olive Oyl's cousin.
7. Which nephew of Scooby Doo was a yapping annoyance?

Answer: Scrappy-Doo

"Puppy Power!", "Scrappy Dappy Doo", "Lemme at 'em!" are the catch-phrases of Scrappy-Doo, who burst onto the television screen in 1979. Mystery shrouds his origins; and his character is quite different from his Uncle Scooby's. His middle name is Cornelius. Never let it be said that the makers of Scooby-Doo jumped the shark when they came up with character to extend the series.
8. Who was the youngest of the Van Pelts in "Peanuts", trailing behind Linus and Lucy?

Answer: Rerun

Rerun was named by Lucy who saw his birth a repetition of the birth of Linus. Charles Schultz introduced the character but really had little or no idea what to do with him during the 1980s. Hence, the infrequent times that he was seen, he was, usually, playing cards with Snoopy. In time, as he grew, he began to feature more prominently.
9. The two children that George and Jane Jetson had to chase were Judy and which of the following?

Answer: Elroy

Judy Jetson is your typical modern teenager; ready to grasp and utilise the newest mod-cons, talk for hours on the telephone and loves to shop. Oh, and she has a crush on a rock singer by the name of "Jet Screamer".

Mild mannered Elroy is much younger and is the goody two-shoes of the pair. Despite being six and a half years old he is attentive at class, studies astrophysics and star geometry and is a whiz in all space sciences.
10. L'il Abner and Daisy Mae are the "paw and maw" of Honest Abe Yokum - true or false?

Answer: True

Named after Abraham Lincoln, he was initially called "Mysterious Yokum" as debate centred on what his gender was. Daisy Mae, his mother, seemed to be perpetually pregnant with little Abe, so much so that his creator, Al Capp, once joked "after a pregnancy that ambled on so long that readers began sending me medical books".
