1. "War Stories" is a comic book series that was first published by Vertigo and was picked up by Avatar Press in 2014. Which well-known creator has delivered the horrors of World War II through volumes 1-4 of this series?

Answer: Garth Ennis

Though the vast majority of the stories deal with events set during World War II, there's been stories set during the Spanish Civil War and the 1973's Middle East war. Garth Ennis is known for "Hellblazer", "The Boys", "Preacher", "Hitman" and "Punisher Max".
2. Which controversial graphic novel written by Frank Miller, originally had Batman fighting Muslim terrorists, but the protagonist was changed to an original creation named The Fixer after DC lost interest in the project due to its offensive propaganda?

Answer: "Holy Terror"

Despite his legendary status as writer of "Sin City", "300", "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" and others, Frank Miller faced a lot of criticism when this graphic novel came out in 2011, and it has remained as one of his least popular works.
3. In "Ultimate Spider-Man" #123, which villain sitting on a park bench is telling his tragic story to random passersby at a park, intriguing them enough to get them to sit down next to him before they are ultimately devoured?

Answer: Venom

Eddie Brock's suit in the Ultimate Universe is not an alien symbiote but rather a suit created as a cure for cancer by his father and Peter Parker's father.
4. Which of the following characters has a doctorate in psychiatry?

Answer: Karla Sofen (Moonstone)

Karla Sofen has an M.D. in psychiatry, but she has a tendency to drive her patients to suicide instead of helping them.

Thomas Wayne was an accomplished surgeon; Carol Ferris is a pilot and business woman; Adam Strange was an archaeologist before turning into a space adventurer.
5. No, that blonde hunk coming out of the sea wearing an orange and blue suit is not Aquaman! That's ________ , from the eponymous Ian Churchill's series published by Image in 2010.

Answer: Marineman

His name is Steve Ocean, marine biologist and TV personality. If you still think he's Aquaman, check his hands! They are webbed!
6. "Omega the Unknown" is an obscure, offbeat series that was first published in 1976 and ran for 10 issues, written by Steve Gerber and Mary Skrenes. It had a short revival in 2007, thanks to the passion the writer Jonathan Lethem had for its original run, but that too culminated after just 10 issues. Which publisher released both runs?

Answer: Marvel Comics

Neither Boom! nor Dynamite were present in the '70s.

If it sounded like DC Comics, then you might have been thinking about the Omega Men, who first appeared in the Green Lantern series in the '80s.

Steve Gerber passed away in 2008 at the age of 60, losing the battle against idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was the creator of Howard the Duck, and had notable runs on "Man-Thing" and "The Defenders."
7. In 2011's issue #6 of "The Mighty Thor", Galactus gains a new Herald named Praeter, after the Silver Surfer decides to stay behind and guard the Worldheart Seed that the Asgardians hid from the Devourer of Worlds. Before becoming Praeter, this elderly man named Mike, was bold enough to face Galactus and beg him for mercy for the souls of all those present, an act that greatly impressed the Silver Surfer. Who was Mike before joining Galactus?

Answer: Pastor Mike, local preacher

At the start of "The Galactus Seed" storyline, he was just a Pastor in the town of Broxton, Oklahoma, concerned about the safety of the people with the Asgardians as neighbors. Little did he know, he was soon going to be traveling to all the corners in space, seeking the mysteries of the gods.
8. Marvel's "Legion of Monsters" encompasses several archetypes of hideous, living horrors. What type of monster does Morbius resemble?

Answer: A vampire

Once a biochemist, Morbius cured himself of a debilitating disease with aggressive experimental testing but turned into a pseudo-vampire instead.
9. Which contemporary Hollywood actress and bombshell would Bucky fantasize about when he wasn't fighting alongside Cap in World War II? (Note: He said as much in "Cable & Deadpool" #45)

Answer: Rita Hayworth

Rita Hayworth was one of the most popular if not the top pinup and "sex goddess" of the '40s. She was such a bombshell, that her image literally adorned the shells of bombs and many a fighter plane. No wonder Bucky daydreamed of dating her.

Angie Dickinson's first big role was in 1959's "Rio Bravo".

Rachel Ward modelled in the late '70s and '80s and had her first big role in the TV mini-series "The Thorn Birds".

Sophia Loren started her career in the '50s with her first leading role of notice in 1953 with "Aida".
10. Basement Comics founder Budd Root said of his creation: "She's patterned after pretty much all the women I really respect. She's got a body with kind of a Little Annie Fannie face with Dani Ashe's boobs and Nina Hartley's butt". Which character is he referring to?

Answer: Cavewoman (Meriem Cooper)

Cavewoman is a brunette and her first appearance was in 1993. She appears in issues published by Amryl Entertainment, of which Basement Comics is a division.

Jungle Girl is a blonde and first appeared in 2007. Since Dynamite Entertainment owns this character, she has teamed up with Red Sonja on occasion.

Shanna the She-Devil is a blonde, though when she first appeared in 1972, the covers sometimes made her look like a redhead. She had a major role during the "Secret Invasion" storyline, and she usually meets heroes and villains entering the Savage Land alongside Ka-Zar. Unlike the aforementioned characters in this list, she was actually created with the female audience in mind.

Sheena is the oldest of them all, first appearing in 1937 in the first issue of the British magazine "Wags", and then making her debut in America in the first issue of Fiction House's "Jumbo Comics." She's actually the first female character to appear in her own comic book, and she did so in the spring of 1942, beating Wonder Woman by a season, as the latter first appeared in the summer. Devil's Due Publishing had a 2007 comic series with Sheena but in 2014, Moonstone Books was the one to continue her adventures in comics form. Gena Lee Nolin portrayed her live in the 2000-02 eponymous TV series.
