Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of Richie Cunningham's (Ron Howard) younger sister played by Erin Moran on the Milwaukee set sitcom "Happy Days"?

Answer: Joanie

"Happy Days" was set in the 1950s and '60s and starred Ron Howard as Richie Cunningham. When the show begins, Richie is a stereotypical teenager from the time period, interested in girls and finding himself in minor shenanigans. His younger sister Joanie is played by Erin Moran. Joanie is also a stereotypical teenage girl for the time period.

Their parents are Howard and Marion (Tom Bosley and Marion Ross). One of the most popular characters from the show is Fonzie (Henry Winkler) who was the smooth talking "cool" guy about town.

His cousin is Chachi (Scott Baio) who later falls in love with Joanie.
2. Willows, Wisconsin is the hometown of which doll?

Answer: Barbie

Barbie, according to her official biography, is originally from Willows, Wisconsin where her parents still live. She was a cheerleader in high school. Her full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. According to published novels about Barbie's early days, she left Willows to attend a private high school in New York City before moving into her Malibu Dream House.
3. Which character from "Married...with Children" is originally from the backwoods area called Wanker County, Wisconsin?

Answer: Peggy Bundy

Peggy's birth name is Margaret Wanker but she goes by Peg or Peggy. Her whole family is from Wanker County which is a very clearly uncivilized part of the state. Many of Peggy's relatives are uncultured and think of Al, a failure of a shoe salesman, as a big city successful man. Al and the kids hate Peggy's family and many of them are rather unusual including Hootie, an owl boy, and Uncle Sticky. Peggy's uncultured upbringing and family are often the punchline of many jokes, especially by Al.
4. Bartleby and Loki (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) are angels banished from Heaven for their sins and sent to Wisconsin in which film?

Answer: Dogma

"Dogma" is a 1999 comedy film starring Affleck and Damon as Bartleby and Loki. They are fallen angels who were kicked out of heaven for disobeying God. They are sent to Wisconsin and hope to find their way back to heaven. They believe they can do so if they travel to Red Bank, New Jersey where they can be completely forgiven for their sins and return to heaven. Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) is on a mission to stop them because if Bartleby and Loki succeed, the existence and power of God will be overthrown.
5. Which actor plays Lars Lindstrom of Wisconsin who dates a doll named Bianca in "Lars and the Real Girl"?

Answer: Ryan Gosling

Everyone town treats Bianca as a real person because they understand Lars' struggles to adjust in the real world. One of Lars' coworkers, Margo (Kelli Garner) is in love with him but Lars is torn between the two women in his life.
6. Ana, Kenneth and Andre are just a few of the Milwaukee residents hiding out in a shopping mall in the 2004 remake of which horror film?

Answer: Dawn of the Dead

In the 2004 remake of "Dawn of the Dead", Ana (Sarah Polley) is widowed when her husband is killed by a zombie. She discovers a group of people seeking refuge and joins them. They find shelter in a shopping mall guarded by Kenneth (Ving Rhames). "That '70s Show" stars Topher Grace as Eric Forman, a somewhat nerdy teenager who is in love with his attractive neighbor Donna (Laura Prepon). His parents are Red and Kitty (Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp). Red is cantankerous and always complaining while Kitty is sweet.

The other characters include Ashton Kutcher as Eric's wild friend Kelso, Mila Kunis as Jackie, a spoiled rich girl and Wilmer Valderamma as Fez, the foreign exchange student.
8. In Ann Packer's novel, "The Dive from Clausen's Pier" what happens to Mike Mayer, the love interest of protagonist Carrie Bell?

Answer: He becomes paralyzed

"The Dive from Clausen's Pier" is set primarily in Madison, Wisconsin where Carrie and Mike are from. Carrie and Mike are engaged but Carrie thinks they have lost interest in each other. Mike tries to impress Carrie by diving from a pier but breaks his neck and becomes paralyzed.

Much of the novel focuses on Carrie's struggles with Mike's paralysis. She feels like she cannot abandon him but also feels trapped with him in that condition.
9. What is the name of the town where "Picket Fences", starring Tom Skerritt as Sheriff Brock, is set?

Answer: Rome

"Picket Fences" is a drama series set in Rome, Wisconsin. Tom Skerritt plays Sheriff Brock who must deal with the very unusual situations in the small town. Despite Rome being a picturesque town, murders are not uncommon and the town's different religious factions are often at war with each other. One running joke is that the mayors of Rome often die in extremely unusual ways such as spontaneously combusting or often wind up in jail.
10. What was the occupation of Laverne and Shirley (Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams) while they lived in Milwaukee?

Answer: Bottlecappers

On the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley", the titular characters worked as bottlecappers in the Shotz Brewery, one of many in Milwaukee. Penny Marshall played Laverne, a tough-talking young lady whose clothes always had an "L" sewn into them. Cindy Williams was Shirley who was more reserved than Laverne.

The two women were roommates in Milwaukee for the first five seasons before they moved to California.
