The Shrieking Shack is a wooden shack in Hogsmeade. The people of Hogsmeade thought it was haunted. Harry finds out in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" that it was really Remus Lupin. Lupin was a werewolf when he went to Hogwarts so he went to the Shrieking Shack once a month to transform. His three friends became unregistered animagus to go with him.
