Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Noah

Answer: Ark

The book of Genesis tells how God became dismayed by the corrupt actions of men, and decided to destroy them. Noah, however, he saw to be a good man and directed him to build a great ship, or Ark in which he and his family, and one pair of each creature could be saved.
Genesis Ch. 6-9
2. Jonah

Answer: Elsewhere

The four chapters of the book of Jonah in the Bible, tell how Jonah defied the Lord, who wanted him to go to Nineveh to preach, and tried to go elsewhere. Many tales say that Jonah was then swallowed by a whale, but others translate the words to mean "big fish". After Jonah prayed and promised to do as God wished, the creature spewed him out.
3. Ham

Answer: Ark

One son of Noah, Ham survived the Deluge by going into the Ark with his wife, parents and brothers (and their wives). He later became father to at least four children, who in their turn contributed to the re-population of the earth, specifically parts of Asia and Africa.
4. Daniel

Answer: Elsewhere

The book of Daniel has twelve chapters, with the well-known story of Daniel in the lion's den being found in Chapter 6. Daniel was thrown into the den of hungry lions as punishment for praying to God instead of to King Darius, but was saved from death by God for his faithfulness.
5. Shem

Answer: Ark

Shem, another son of Noah, also survived the Deluge by going into the Ark. Later he became father to a number of children, and possibly even a prophet, like his father. One of his descendants was Abraham.
6. Meshach

Answer: Elsewhere

Meshach's story is found in the Book of Daniel, and is bound up with the stories of Shadrach and Abednego. The three Jewish men, along with their friend Daniel, were among the Jews exiled in Babylon. All refused to bow down to the statue of Nebuchadnezzar, as required by that king.
7. Japheth

Answer: Ark

Like his brothers, Japheth survived the Deluge by going into the Ark with the rest of his family. He is traditionally believed to be the ancestor of the peoples of Europe, and possibly, China.
8. Shadrach

Answer: Elsewhere

Along with Meshach and Abednego, Shadrach was sentenced to be thrown into a fiery furnace, for the crime of failing to worship the King's image. As followers of the Jewish faith they were unable to worship a graven image, as this went against the teachings of the Ten Commandments.
9. Abednego

Answer: Elsewhere

Abednego and his companions in the fiery furnace, Shadrach and Meshach, whose story is told in the book of Daniel, did not perish as their captors expected, but emerged whole and unharmed, having been saved by their faith.
10. Naamah

Answer: Ark

Although not specifically named as Noah's wife in the Bible, certain traditions hold that Naamah was his wife. Others give the name as Nemzar or other variations of that spelling. Whatever her name, the wife of Noah went into the Ark with him and their sons and daughters-in-law, and survived the Deluge.
