Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What sort of peacocks were roaming around Lucius Malfoy's grounds?

Answer: Pure white.

Although all these are genuine peacocks, the pure white are what Malfoy has. As Yaxley comments 'He always did himself well, Lucius.'
2. What, according to Harry, coming from Dudley Dursley, was like 'I love you' from anyone else?

Answer: 'I don't think you're a waste of space'.

This follows from Uncle Vernon telling Hestia Jones that he doesn't care where Harry is going as 'He's off with some of your lot...' Hestia is really shocked and Harry has to explain that 'They think I'm a waste of space '. This is when Dudley comes out with his pronouncement 'I don't think you're a waste of space'.

Hestia is not impressed but Harry explains that 'I don't think you're a waste of space' from Dudley is like 'I love you'. This is only the first of the many shocks in the book!
3. Sorry - it's a 'who was killed?' question. Which of these was the first casualty of Harry's flight?

Answer: Hedwig

This is your last chance - stop playing now unless you've read the book! Poor Hedwig is the first to be hit with a Killing Curse.
4. Which Quidditch team would you be supporting if you wore socks emblazoned with golden bulrushes?

Answer: Puddlemere United.

This comes to light when Harry, at the Burrow, is called upon by Molly to identify a single sock (just an excuse for Molly to question what Harry, Hermione and Ron are up to). As Harry points out, as the sock has a golden bulrushes pattern and he doesn't support Puddlemere United (the oldest team in the league and the one that Oliver Wood joined), it can't be his.
5. Under what name did Harry Potter attend Bill and Fleur's wedding?

Answer: Cousin Barny.

Using Polyjuice, Harry was transformed into a large, red haired boy from Ottery St Catchpole, and introduced as 'Cousin Barny'. 'Barmy' means a bit mad and Cousins Itt and Lumpy come from 'The Addams Family'.
6. Kingsley Shacklebolt's Patronus appeared at Bill and Fleur's reception to warn that the Ministry of Magic had fallen and that the forces of evil are coming. What was Kingley's Patronus?

Answer: A lynx.

All the other patronuses belong to other characters from the book. How many of you have thought of what you would like your own Patronus to be? I know I have!
7. When Harry found Lily's letter at 12 Grimmauld place, which nickname was she writing to?

Answer: Padfoot.

Lily wrote to Sirius (Padfoot) about the infant Potter (his Godchild). Wormy was Peter Pettigrew (who actually shows mercy to Harry in this book). Moony was Professor Lupin and Prongs was James Potter.
8. Why did Lupin and Harry argue when Lupin wanted to help Harry, Ron and Hermione?

Answer: Because Harry didn't approve of Lupin leaving his pregnant wife, Nymphadora.

Lupin was worried that the child might be a werewolf like himself, so tried to run away. Harry, having lost both parents, didn't think there was any excuse for leaving a child unless there was absolutely no choice.
9. What flowers did Harry lay on his parents' grave in Godric's Hollow?

Answer: Christmas roses.

When Harry and Hermione find the grave, Harry hadn't thought of bringing them anything. Luckily Hermione was on hand to magic up some Christmas roses for Harry to leave.
10. The second time Ron disapparated in the book, he splinched, leaving a part of his arm behind. What happened the fourth time?

Answer: He splinched, losing two fingernails.

Hermione is not impressed by this. Ron had stormed off and she acidly points out that she and Harry had been to Godric's Hollow, where Voldemort and his snake had both tried to kill them - 'Imagine losing fingernails, Harry! That puts our suffering into perspective, doesn't it?'.
It's not until Harry convinces Hermione that Ron saved his life that she even starts to simmer down.
11. After valiant Dobby lost his life, having turned up in Malfoy Manor's cellars to help rescue Ollivander, Hermione, Ron, Luna and Dean, what did Harry write above Dobby's grave?

Answer: Here lies Dobby, a free elf.

I must admit I cried at this bit. Dobby is fatally stabbed while rescuing Harry and friends from Malfoy's cellars. Harry digs the grave by hand (helped by Ron and Dean). Ron puts his socks and shoes on Dobby's body, Dean gives him a hat and Luna gently closes his eyes as if he were sleeping.
12. What was Remus' and Tonks' child named?

Answer: Teddy Remus Lupin.

They named the little boy after Nymphadora Tonks' father Ted and Remus himself. Harry was given the great honour of being Godfather, which (obviously) reminded him of Sirius. Remus must have taken the harsh words Harry gave him in a previous argument to heart and put aside his own dread of pups or cubs or whatever he thought Tonks would produce.
13. Who not only greeted Harry, Ron and Hermione when he appeared at Hogwarts, looking as if he'd been sleeping rough, but also killed Voldemort's Horcrux Nagini with Godric Gryffindor's sword?

Answer: Neville Longbottom.

The tough new regime at Hogwarts meant that Neville got one gash for not doing detention and another for cheeking Alecto Carrow. As Ron says 'there's a time and a place for getting a smart mouth'. Neville goes on to be Professor of Herbology at Hogwarts.
14. How did Ron and Hermione get into the Chamber of Secrets to destroy the Cup (with a Basilisk's tooth)?

Answer: Ron spoke Parseltongue.

You need to say 'open' in Parseltongue to get into the Chamber of Secrets (remember book 2?) Ron just imitated Harry (a Parselmouth) when he had opened the locket. As Hermione says 'He was amazing!' Many thanks to that.crazy.kid, Bungo, djsgal, riddle_man and hilary~shea for helping me get this quiz right. Bless J.K.'s devoted fans.
15. Nineteen years later. Harry has three children with Ginny - James, Albus and Lily. Only Albus has inherited the famous Lily Evans' eyes. What is Albus' middle name?

Answer: Severus

Albus is worried that he might be Sorted into Slytherin and Harry tells his son he was named after two headmasters - and one was a Slytherin and 'probably the bravest man' Harry knew. A most surprising end to this wonderful series of books. Thank you J.K. for taking us along and thank you for playing my quiz.
