Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the story we learn that a wedding has taken place before the book begins. Who was married?

Answer: Lupin and Tonks

Lupin and Tonks finally decided to get married over the summer. Tonks seems happy about the decision when it is revealed, but Lupin seems somewhat subdued about it.
2. While taking refuge in the Black house, Harry, Ron and Hermione finally figure out who the mysterious R.A.B. was. What was his name?

Answer: Black

Regulus Black was Sirius' younger brother. He was obsessed with the dark arts and with joining the Death Eaters. However, it seems that he became disenchanted with Lord Voldemort and attempted to destroy the Horcrux that he knew of. Voldemort had borrowed Kreacher to use while placing the Horcrux; it was through Kreacher that Regulus was able to find the locket.
3. In coming up with a plan to get the Horcrux that is located in Gringotts Bank, Harry, Ron and Hermione use the help of Griphook. What price does Griphook ask for in exchange for his help?

Answer: The sword of Godric Gryffindor

Goblins believe that anything they have made actually belongs to the Goblins and is only being borrowed by those who purchased it. Therefore he feels that the sword rightfully belongs in his hands rather than Harry's. He agrees to help them break into Gringotts Bank only if the sword will then be his.
4. What is the fifth Horcrux that Harry finds and is destroyed at Hogwarts?

Answer: Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem

Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem was a tiara she wore that was said to clear the mind and allow her to think. It was stolen by her daughter, Helena Ravenclaw, who hid it in a hollow tree in Albania. When Helena refused the romantic advances of the Baron, he killed her and then himself.

Their ghosts remained at Hogwarts; his as the Bloody Baron and hers as the Grey Lady. Apparently Riddle had conned out of her the location of the tiara and turned it into a Horcrux.
5. As Harry prepares to walk into the forest to face Lord Voldemort for what he believes to be the last time, he uses the resurrection stone to bring four people with him. Which one of these was not there?

Answer: Albus Dumbledore

Lily and James Potter were both there as well as Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. These were some of the most important people in Harry's life and the ones that he most wanted to give him strength as he prepared to turn himself over to Lord Voldemort.
6. Several times throughout "Deathly Hallows" when Harry is in trouble he sees a blue eye in his broken two-way mirror. Whose eye does it end up being?

Answer: Aberforth Dumbledore

Aberforth had the second half of the two-way mirror and used it to keep an eye on Harry. When Harry was in some of his most dangerous scrapes it was Aberforth who sent help to Harry.
7. While on lookout one night Harry sees a silver doe run past him and decides to follow it. The doe takes him into a clearing with water. When Harry looks into the water he sees the sword of Godric Gryffindor. Harry dives into the water to retrieve the sword and gets tangled by the locket that he is wearing. Who dives into the water to rescue him?

Answer: Ron

Ron had walked out on his friends when he became too frustrated with their inaction. He regretted his decision right away but knew that he would not be able to find them again. However, when he realized that the deluminator that Dumbledore left him could help him find his friends he went in search of them.

He could not find the camp as it was magically protected so he waited around hoping that he would run into them. Fortunately he was close by and saw Harry dive for the sword. When Harry did not surface quickly enough Ron dove into the water to rescue him. Ron then went back and retrieved the sword.
8. The Deathly Hallows, we learn, are three objects that together can conquer death. Which object below does not belong?

Answer: Everlasting Elixir

The Deathly Hallows were said to have been given to three brothers by Death. Their story is told as a children's tale to teach them not to be selfish or to ask for things which they do not need. It is said that if one can possess each of the three objects then he shall be able to overcome death.
9. Which Weasley unexpectedly shows up to help fight in the final battles against Lord Voldemort?

Answer: Percy Weasley

While the Weasley family has been loyal to Harry throughout the series, Percy turned his back on the family and Harry. Percy sided with the Ministry believing that Harry was crazy and that those who followed him were a threat to the Ministry. Just before the final battles of "Deathly Hallows" Percy shows up to help fight and admits that he was wrong.

His family accepts his apology and he goes on to fight the battle on the side of good.
10. Throughout the series questions have arisen as to the true nature of Severus Snape. In the end does Snape prove to be on the side of Dumbledore?

Answer: Yes

We learn through Snape's memories that he has been on the side of Dumbledore. He was in love with Lily growing up and wanted nothing more than to be with her. When Voldemort was going after Harry to kill him, Snape begged that he would allow Lily to survive.

When she was killed, Snape went to Dumbledore and confessed all. He became loyal to Dumbledore and to the cause of keeping Harry alive and safe. All of his works seemingly in the service of Voldemort were performed on Dumbledore's orders; even Dumbledore's own murder.

In the end we see that Snape was trying to do right.
