Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I guess I needed to learn that 'all you need is love.' I grew incredibly paranoid near the end of the series. I also constantly fought for power. Who am I?"

Answer: 2Face

In the beginning 2Face was strong-willed and watched over Edward. But as the series moved forward, she showed that she truly had two faces. When she was about to be fed to the baby, she attempted to work a deal that would send Wylson in her place. She struggled against Yago the entire time for control of the Remnants.

The last book found her close to killing Billy. But then she heard a voice telling her that all she needed was love.
2. Which character would say the following: "I had the soul of a poet and the mind of a techie. I ended up with a former Alpha member and named my baby girl after a hero"?

Answer: Jobs

Jobs was one of the main characters in the series. It was Jobs who narrated the first regular chapter in the series. He was the one to start the movement to take the ship back to Earth. K.A Applegate told readers that he and Mo'Steel would survive throughout the series.
3. "I woke up from my berth in the Mayflower and then fell right back asleep. I woke up at various times, only to see machines floating around me. Which of the following happened to me? Who am I?"

Answer: My skin was removed- Kubrick

One of the sadder characters, Kubrick had all of his skin and hair removed. Mother had also removed some of his nerves that felt pain, so when he was injured, he felt nothing. Kubrick kept to himself in his own house, refusing to put any mirrors up. He also wore long-sleeved shirts and gloves. He fell in love with 2Face and ended up dying to save her life.
4. "Yago always called me "twitch," but I didn't mind because nobody really liked me. I accidentally killed one of the Mayflower's pilots in the beginning of the series. I actually survived, though, even after being killed in a war. I was quite observant and never really got enough credit." Can you guess who said this?

Answer: D-Caf

Harlan "D-Caf" Melman and his brother Mark sneaked onto the Mayflower. They were not supposed to have a place there, but after one of the pilots and Mark died, D-Caf got a spot. He was slightly pudgy and talked too much when he was nervous. He spent most of his time with Yago and Anamull because no one trusted him. Yago simply used him.
5. "I despised 2Face but deep down I feared her. I felt that I would be the best leader for the Remnants. I had the Touch and was destined for greatness- that is, until I abandoned the others and got eaten by Tate. I spent the rest of my days growing into a more mature, decent person." Which Remnant is this?

Answer: Yago

In the beginning Yago discriminated against the "freaks." 2Face resisted his attempt at power and they grew into great enemies. When he placed his hand on the bare flesh of a Blue Meanie, the alien crumbled to the ground joyously; this was called "The Touch." He, along with the Troika, left the Remnants on Earth.

He grew into a gentler fellow and died in Tate's head as she searched the universe for life.
6. "I always looked for a thrill. Anything that had a large amount of danger attached would be really woolly. I would never bunny out of an obstacle. I was a great friend and warrior." Can you name the Remnant?

Answer: Mo'Steel

Mo'Steel was a thrill-seeker who was extremely loyal to his best friend, Jobs. He stood up for those who needed him and was always looking for adventure. When Mo'Steel killed Hawk and defeated the head Beast, he was officially named the leader of the Marauders. He ended up with Noyze and had a child named Boyd, with another on the way.
7. "I was one of the older Remnants. I lost my family on the Mayflower but didn't dwell on it too much. I fought constantly and didn't respect any of the younger survivors." Which Remnant would say this?

Answer: Burroway

Daniel Burroway was one of the lesser-known Remnants. He whined a lot and was quite a coward. He liked when Wylson held meetings with only the adults and Yago in attendance. Burroway was completely obliterated by a pillar of flame. He was the first Remnant killed when the Remnants returned to Earth.
8. Which psychiatrist would say "I was linked to Burroway a lot, but I didn't make it to the end. I was killed by a Blue Meanie after Billy created a helicopter for me"?

Answer: TR

TR, or Tathagata Rajagopalachari, was one of the older Remnants. He was a psychiatrist before the Rock hit Earth. In the beginning he seemed willing to help the others cope with the events surrounding them but then kept quiet. He had Billy make a helicopter for him, but he had no idea how to use it.

The Blue Meanies attacked the Remnants when half of them were in Mother's basement, and TR was the first casualty. The others held a formal funeral for him.
9. "I may have been deaf, but I had an uncanny ability to read people, including Blue Meanies." Which Remnant could say this?

Answer: Noyze

Noyze shocked the Blue Meanies when they realized she could understand their complex sign language. Because she herself could speak sign language, she had an advantage. Noyze lost her parents on the Mayflower, but quickly befriended Dr. Cohen when they were kidnapped. She and Mo'Steel fell in love and ended up with one another.
10. "I was almost obsessed with keeping the world my fellow Remnants had created safe. Mostly, I was grateful that I died a free person." Can you guess who would say this?

Answer: Tamara

Tamara spent the first seven books under the control of her baby, who was in fact a Shipwright. When Billy and Mother killed it, she was finally set free. After this, she constantly hounded Billy to create superior weapons for the Remnants to defend themselves. She was killed when the remaining aliens tricked her into leaving the safe Zone without her armor.
11. "My mutation mimicked my personality. I always preferred keeping to myself and staying in the background."

Answer: Edward

Edward called himself The Chameleon, like a superhero, because his mutation allowed him to blend into any background. This came in handy several times in the series. He was the younger brother of Jobs, whom he felt very close to, because his parents died on the Mayflower.
12. Which Remnant would say the following: "I was a good kid who grew bored keeping safe. I wanted to prove my worth as a fighter but accidentally killed myself"?

Answer: Roger Dodger

Once the Remnants settled down into their created homes, Roger Dodger grew edgy and wished they could continue to walk around and fight for their lives. He entered Violet's basement and threw a dangerous Rider boomerang. It came back at him and he lost his life. He acquired the worm mutation from Violet when she saved his life.
13. "I followed Yago a lot, but honestly, I thought he was nuts. I didn't need anyone's help- they all probably needed me more than I needed them. After all, I was the strongest." Who said this?

Answer: Anamull

For most of the book series, Yago had Anamull and D-Caf at his side. Anamull was strong but dull. He bullied the others constantly and separated himself from them when they were abandoned on Earth. He created a fire but ultimately was devoured by D-Caf in his worm form.
14. "I was once an orphan. When everyone went to sleep on The Mayflower, I stayed awake. I was awake the entire time." Which Remnant stayed awake on the 500-year trip through space?

Answer: Billy

Even before the Rock hit, Billy was different. He actually had dreams of the other Remnants walking around the vast lands created by Mother. After finally coming out of his waking-coma, Billy exhibited great powers and joined with Mother. It was because of Billy that Earth was finally reborn.
15. "I was a CEO of a major company before the Rock hit Earth. I thought that I could handle being leader, but I was desperately mistaken." Which adult Remnant was speaking?

Answer: Wylson

Wylson Lefwokitz-Blake was appointed leader of the Remnants by Yago, who wanted to eventually usurp her. She constantly held useless meetings but didn't get much done. She tried to be a better mother for Violet when they were on the USS Constitution. She died when an immense wave carried her overboard.
16. "When my wife died I was a wreck. I couldn't really be there for my strong-willed daughter, even when she was exiled from the main group."

Answer: Shy Hwang

Shy lost his wife on the Mayflower and was depressed the entire time he was on Mother. 2Face grew impatient with his sadness but understood it. His last few moments were spent enjoying the ship the Remnants rested in. As tough as she acted, 2Face couldn't help but cry when Shy was blown apart by a Blue Meanie's flechette gun.
17. "My son had such a taste for danger I always let him go off, warning him to be careful. He kept me safe and I ended up being one of the only adult survivors." Who said that?

Answer: Olga

Olga was mainly just along for the ride the entire time. She was lenient with her son Mo'Steel because she was used to his ways. When the Remnants joined the Marauders Olga suffered horrible migraines. The Marauders wanted to abandon her because she was older and sickly, but Mo refused. He also saved her from being attacked by Rattler
18. "I had the distinct honor of being the very first Remnant killed by a Rider." Which Remnant was that?

Answer: Errol

Everyone called him Old Errol. He was one of the oldest survivors of the Mayflower. However, not long after the group woke up, the Riders showed up and challenged the Remnants. Errol picked up a spear the aliens offered and ended up being skewered. Jobs felt especially bad because Errol was similar to him.
19. Which Remnant would say "My outward appearance fooled everyone; I taught my fellow Remnants that stereotypes were something we could live without"?

Answer: Violet

Violet was born Dallas, and then changed her name to Miss Blake. She considered herself a "Jane," someone who rejected technology and was viewed as elegant and weak. But throughout the Remnants adventures, Violet proved she was so much more. She felt the worm mutation inside of her early, but only revealed it after saving Roger Dodger's life.
20. "I became the hero the Remnants needed. My sacrifice literally brought the world back to life." Which Remnant had the right to claim that?

Answer: Tate

Tate was always looking out for Tamara and was overjoyed when she was freed. Yago inadvertently took her with him when he left the others on Earth. Tate had a mutation she called the Mouth. Her face grew so it could fit the immense teeth, tongue, and mouth that were very powerful.

She stayed for years on the ship and eventually crashed Mother into Earth in order to give the others a second chance at life.
