Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Between 1997 and 2005, which cigarette brand sponsored the McLaren Mercedes formula one team?

Answer: West

West are a German cigarette brand, whose sales were strong in Europe before the deal with McLaren Mercedes took them to new heights and opened up new markets in Africa and China.
With the West livery, McLaren Mercedes enjoyed great success, coming third in the constructors championship twice, finishing as runner up three times and winning the title in 1998 thanks to drivers David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen.
2. Which Ron was murdered in 1994 alongside Nicole Brown Simpson in Los Angeles, California?

Answer: Goldman

Goldman was murdered in 1994 along with the ex wife of football player turned actor O.J. Simpson in a case which became a huge talking point in USA.
O.J. Simpson stood trial in a criminal court for the murders and was acquitted in 1995, although a civil court trial in 1997 found him liable for Goldman's death and awarded $19.5 million in damages to his family.
3. Usually prefaced with "bush", what is an Australian slang term for food?

Answer: Tucker

Bush tucker generally means any food which is native to Australia and was or is eaten by Aboriginal peoples. Examples range from kangaroo and crocodile meat to riberries and finger limes.
Nowadays, many restaurants celebrate bush tucker by including it on their menu, such as lamb served with pepperberry and bush tomatoes, accompanied by mashed potato flavoured with saltbush.
4. Actors Emma Watson, John Krasinski and Laura Linney all attended which Rhode Island university?

Answer: Brown

Brown was founded in 1764 by Baptist leaders, and was at the time just the seventh college in America. It has a rich history with notable alumni including Chilean Geronimo Urmeneta, who in 1835 became the first Latin American to graduate from Brown and went on to become Secretary of Finance in his homeland.
Other famous people that attended Brown include John F. Kennedy Jr., John D. Rockefeller Jr., Lisa Loeb and Ted Turner.
5. Which art gallery and museum in Coventry, UK, home to a collection of paintings by William Henry Brooke, first opened its doors in 1960?

Answer: Herbert

The Herbert, as well as hosting many exhibitions, is home to several collections, including one paying tribute to possibly Coventry's most famous historical resident, Lady Godiva.
It also houses a George Eliot collection, containing many artefacts relating to Mary Anne Evans, which was Eliot's real name and, considering the damage the city sustained during WWII, an especially poignant collection entitled "Peace and Reconciliation" showcasing art with the themes of conflict, peace and reconciliation.
6. Which American food company was the first to manufacture TV dinners in 1953?

Answer: Swanson

Swanson's first frozen dinner was a turkey dinner, soon followed by chicken and beef choices.
Although the TV dinner consumer is often seen as a sports loving male sat watching the game, the meals were originally marketed to women, who due to men being called up for WWII, had to work in factories and the like which left very little time to prepare a meal from scratch and tend to the needs of children.
7. Which mythical creature is used as the emblem for Vauxhall cars?

Answer: Griffin

Vauxhall began making luxury cars in 1903 and this continued until after WWII, when they started making mass market vehicles. The company was bought by General Motors of USA in 1925 who sold it in 2017 to French company, Groupe PSA, owners of Peugeot, Citroen and DS.
The griffin logo, although it has undergone several facelifts, has been the company's logo from the start and is derived from the coat of arms of a thirteenth century mercenary soldier who was granted the Manor of Luton for his services to King John.
8. On Toby Keith's 2003 album, "Shock'n Y'all", he advised us that he would never smoke something with Willie again. What was this substance?

Answer: Weed

Keith's song is supposedly based upon the time he met Willie Nelson to pitch the song "Beer For My Horses" to him.
This turned out to be a very profitable night for Keith, as not only did the duet of "Beer For My Horses" become a Billboard country chart number one in USA, he also got the material for "Weed With Willie", which although never released as a single is one of his most popular live songs.
9. In 2019, which Tiger won his first green jacket in 14 years?

Answer: Woods

The much coveted green jacket is awarded each year to the winner of the Masters, held at Augusta.
Tiger had previously won the championship in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005 and his 2019 victory took his total to five, just one behind the all time Masters master, Jack Nicklaus who won six titles between 1963 and 1986.
10. What is the common bond?

Answer: Family Guy

All are the surnames of Quahog residents on the animated TV show, "Family Guy". Adam West, voiced by Adam West, is the Mayor of Quahog and the Goldman family consists of pharmacist Mort, his wife Muriel and their son Neil. Tom Tucker is the news anchor on Channel 5 news, often reporting on the antics of Peter Griffin and his family as well as his friends Cleveland Brown and Joe Swanson, while John Herbert lives on Spooner Street, just a few doors down from the Griffins. Peter's boss at the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory is Jonathan Weed and James Woods, voiced by James Woods, is a criminal sociopath, who lends his name to the James Woods Regional High School, later renamed the Adam West High School.
