5. Most everyone knows that Ottawa is the capital of Canada. However, before it became Ottawa, it was a rough and tumble logging town. What was its name?

Answer: Bytown

Bytown was named for Colonel John By of the Royal Engineers who was the supervisor for the building of the Rideau Canal. The canal was built to connect Kingston on Lake Ontario and the Ottawa River, thus by-passing part of the St. Lawrence River, and protecting the Canadian trade route from possible unfriendly American attention.
6. Sister Peter Marie was a character in what prison show aired by HBO?

Answer: Oz

"Oz" premiered in 1997. It tackled controversial issues, such as death of a child due to prison feuds, race wars, and rape. Rita Moreno, who played Sister Peter Marie, and Ernie Hudson headlined an all-star cast.
7. Which of these fruits has not been a flavor of PEZ candy?

Answer: Banana

PEZ candies have been sold for over 70 years. The name PEZ comes from the German word for peppermint: pfefferminz. Chocolate, coffee, cola, and yogurt are a few of the flavors that have been used for PEZ candy through the years.
8. Which of the following is NOT an herb?

Answer: Chorizo

Chervil is an herb in the parsley family, used for seasoning. Chervil has a very delicate licorice flavor.

Chives are an herb in the onion family. The greens, or leaves, can be cut and used fresh or dried for later use, and are used as a condiment, often sprinkled on foods such as baked potatoes. The bulbs are left intact, so the leaves can be snipped again as they grow back.

Chamomile is a plant in the daisy family, with small, delicate white flowers. When dried, the flowers can be brewed as an herb tea.

Chorizo is a spicy Spanish sausage, generally made with pork. Chorizo is also used in Mexican foods.

All three herbs can easily be grown in your own herb garden, either grown outside, or inside in pots, and used year-round.
9. Choose the American player who was drafted in three professional sports.

Answer: Dave Winfield

Winfield was drafted by the San Diego Padres in baseball, the Atlanta Hawks in basketball, and the Minnesota Vikings in football. Dave chose baseball, and chose wisely too. He would later become a member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
10. Which of these is considered to be the world's smallest mammal according to skull size?
