The zebu are domesticated and have a fatty hump on their shoulders, a flap of skin beneath the neck and drooping ears.

A zorse is a cross-breed generally with a male zebra and a female horse (mare). A zeedonk is a cross breed between a zebra and a donkey. The zorilla is a striped polecat and a member of the skunk family. Zorilla comes from the Spanish word "zorro" meaning fox. They are found in the sub-Sahara region of Africa.

"Zulu" (1964) was about the Zulu uprisings in South Africa during the 1880s. The movie starred Stanley Baker and Jack Hawkins. Although Michael Caine had been on stage, television and in previous movies this was the first time that he had a major role in a movie.

"Zulu Dawn" (1979) starred Peter O'Toole, Burt Lancaster and John Mills and was also about the Zulu uprisings in South Africa in the 1880s. "Zero Hour!" (1957) starred Dana Andrews and Sterling Hayden and takes place during and after WWII. "Zanzibar" (1940) starred Lola Lane and James Craig who search for a sacred skull in darkest Africa.

Abraham Zapruder (1905-1970) was a Ukrainian-American who witnessed and filmed the motorcade and assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 in Dallas, Texas. He used a 8mm Bell & Howell movie camera. The camera is now in the US National Archives. Copies of his film were immediately sent to the Secret Service HQs in Washington. Life magazine purchased the rights to the film for $150,000 from Zapruder.

Emile Zola (1840-1902) was a French novelist, playwright, journalist and political activist. He played a huge role in the exoneration of the accused French army officer, Alfred Dreyfus. Zola was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1901 and 1902 without success.
Howard Zinn (1922-2010) was an American historian who was a political science professor at Boston University who published 20 books in his lifetime. Giuseppe Zangara (1900-1933) was an Italian-American who attempted to assassinate Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 15, 1933. He missed Roosevelt but killed the Chicago Mayor, Anton Cermak, and wounded four others. He was tried and convicted of the murder of Cermak and was executed by the electric chair on March 20, 1933.
