Answer: Banbury

Abingdon is the home of Dalton Barracks (formerly RAF Abingdon), Wallingford is the nearest town to RAF Benson and Carterton is the home of RAF Brize Norton.

Answer: True

Historians and archaeologists believe they now know the site of the original Oxen Ford that gave the city its name. The evidence was found during major road reconstruction within the city.

The practice of jumping into the river is frowned upon by the police in the interests of safety. The Isis is another name for the Thames as it flows through Oxford, but the river that flows under Magdalen Bridge is the Cherwell.

The original boundary followed very close to the path of the Thames.

Answer: Royal Regatta

Started in 1839 the annual regatta has been interrupted only by the two World Wars. It received Royal patronage in 1851 with a visit by Prince Albert. Since his death the Sovereign has always consented to be Patron thus allowing the use of the term Royal in the event's name.

Answer: Eagle and Child

The Eagle and Child, known locally as the Bird and Baby was the regular meeting place of Tolkien and Lewis and a few like minded friends where they would discuss and read their latest works over a few pints of decent beer. The pub is still open in St Giles.
