Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. City containing the Seven's Sawmill and the Shadow Clock.

Answer: Magnimar

One of the largest cities in Varisia, Magnimar is visited in the climax of the campaign's second chapter, "The Skinsaw Murders", during which time adventurers will need to put an end to the mysterious Skinsaw Cultists, the duplicitous Justice Ironbriar, and Xanesha, the lamia catalyst and final boss. Magnimar is located on the Varisian Gulf, and while it's not explored in great detail during the story proper, it's rich in depth. Known as the City of Monuments, Magnimar is cut in half by a large Seacleft.

It's second in size only to Korvosa, and can be found in the southwest of the Varisian map.
2. Spires atop Mhar Massif, and the final home of Karzoug, Runelord of Greed.

Answer: Xin-Shalast

Much is wrong with the fabled city of Xin-Shalast, and it's only in the final chapter of the campaign, "Spires of Xin-Shalast", that anyone bears witness to the fabled Thassilonian city high in the far reaches of the Kodar Mountain range. After fighting through the city proper and acquiring items needed to break through Karzoug's occluding field, adventurers and heroes can make their way up through the Pinnacle of Avarice and face off against the final boss once and for all, seal the Soul Lens, and protect Golarion from the risen tyrant.
3. Clanhold and home to the Kreeg Family of Ogres

Answer: Hook Mountain

Found in the end of the "Hook Mountain Massacre" chapter, Hook Mountain is one of the tallest mountains in the Iron Peaks and it's the final battleground in the first half of the campaign. Here, adventurers will take on those responsible for flooding Turtleback Ferry to the south and for infiltrating Fort Rannick.

As it's discovered, the Kreeg Ogres found here are in cahoots with some of Karzoug's lower cronies. Hook Mountain rises ten thousand feet above sea level, though it's nowhere near the sea.
4. Starting town situated atop the Catacombs of Wrath; home to the Swallowtail Festival.

Answer: Sandpoint

The first spot to be seen in any 'Pathfinder' Adventure Path, Sandpoint is likely the hometown for many player characters ready to set out on an adventure across Varisia to save the entire world. While from the surface this small town on The Lost Coast may seem innocuous, it's actually the site of many unique landmarks and hidden dungeons, the histories of which date back to ancient Thassilonian times.

The Old Light, for instance, the town's lighthouse, may actually hold a key to some of the later mysteries of the "Rise of the Runelords" campaign.

The Catacombs of Wrath, found beneath the town, hold mysteries of their own, but adventurers likely won't visit them until they first celebrate the Swallowtail Festival and investigate the goings-on at the local glassworks. Trouble brews quite quickly in Sandpoint, as it would seem.
5. Town flooded by the waters of the Storval Deep and then assaulted by the Black Magga.

Answer: Turtleback Ferry

One of the main locations visited in the third chapter of the campaign, "The Hook Mountain Massacre", Turtleback Ferry is a small town in Central Varisia near the mountains in the Iron Peaks. It marks a starting point before the party travels into the wilderness as, under most circumstances, visitors will be riding up a series of rivers to make it to the middle of nowhere. Later in the chapter, the dam at Skull's Crossing will burst and the rain won't stop flooding Turtleback Ferry and unleashing the extraplanar beast known as the Black Magga.

The town will survive only if they get help.
6. Hiding spot of Mokmurian and an ancient Thassilonian Library.

Answer: Jorgenfist

Jorgenfist is a large location, even from the outside. Sitting at the top of the Storval Stairs, this large complex of buildings and ogre encampments sits on the plateaus and hides immense secrets key to locating and defeating the Runelord of Greed, Karzoug. Visited in the fourth chapter of the campaign, "Fortress of the Stone Giants", this dungeon is the bulk of the party's focus for a long extent.

In its basement are the stone giant transmuter Mokmurian and the hidden library containing countless tomes about the Thassilonian Empire.
7. Goblin home island; home base of Nualia and her allies.

Answer: Thistletop

Found outside of Sandpoint, the unique island of Thistletop is an interesting landmark in that it was once, it is said, the head of a gigantic Thassilonian statue of Karzoug, the campaign's final boss and the Runelord of Greed. Since its destruction over time, the head became the perfect island stronghold for a group of goblins, and the chambers within eventually became the perfect home base for Karzoug's weakest agents, many of whom enacted the raid on Sandpoint early in the game. Parties heading to this location are likely doing so in the end of the campaign's first chapter, 'Burnt Offerings', leading them into bigger and more dangerous things.
8. Contains Abjurant Halls, Shimmering Veils, and a Festering Maze.

Answer: The Runeforge

The Runeforge is a seven-winged dungeon located within its own self-contained demiplane, but to get there one would need to travel to the Sihedron Circle atop a mountain known as Rimeskull in the Kodar Mountains. The Runeforge features one central hub while its seven main branches lead to different sin-related subsections including the Shimmering Veils of Pride, the Abjurant Halls of Envy, the Iron Cages of Lust, the Halls of Wrath, the Festering Maze of Sloth, the Ravenous Crypts of Gluttony, and the Vault of Greed. Only by solving the puzzles and defeating the foes there can one uncover exactly what's needed to bring down Karzoug once and for all...and escape the Runeforge in one piece.
9. Also known as 'Misgivings'; has a ghost problem and a fungus problem.

Answer: Foxglove Manor

Foxglove Manor, inherited by early Sandpoint visitor Aldern Foxglove, is visited during the party's investigation into the Skinsaw Murders as part of the campaign's second chapter. Also known to locals as 'Misgivings', many are very much aware that the building is haunted and has been since many people (including the former owners) died there many years earlier. Of course, if you're on the trail of the Skinsaw Cultists and their connection to the Foxglove family, there's no avoiding it, and diving deep into the subbasements of the manor and into the dangerous fungal growths therein (which cause Ghoul Fever), it'll all become apparent. Foxglove Manor is found between Sandpoint and Magnimar on a local map at the edge of the Bleaklow Moor.
10. Home of the Order of the Black Arrow.

Answer: Fort Rannick

Going through the third chapter -- "The Hook Mountain Massacre" -- will lead parties to Fort Rannick on the edge of the Kreegwood. While this fort seems impenetrable, the building will have been infiltrated by ogres with help from Lucrecia, a lamia who has gotten a bit of a foothold in the area by operating a gambling ship off the Turtleback Ferry shoreline. Leader of the Order of the Black Arrow, Jakardros Sovark, will ask the heroes to assist in reclaiming the fort to protect the area from Hook Mountain's forces...and then some.

As it would appear, Fort Rannick is a bit of a lynchpin defence-wise.
