Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This land untaps an attacking creature and having it deal no combat damage. (This land was created during "the DARK" ages)

Answer: Maze Of Ith

This land can single out almost any creature on the board. You would find this on most decks during the ice age era especially in UW control decks who are up against necro decks and until the rath cycle has arrived, players have decided to replace it with wastelands instead.
2. Goblin food chains are once a tier 1 deck to beat because of its tremendous speed and aggro style of play but do you know what expansion set did the food chain card came from?

Answer: Mercadian Masques

It is funny but true that the food chain card just ended up in shoe boxes because there were no combo cards to go with it. But when onslaught block was released, the maggots from the chain decided to leave mercadia and hook up with the gobs to form a powerful deck.
3. It is a 4/4 BG creature that has the ability to make its controller draw a card when it is sacrificed. And yet, also has the ability to make its way back to its owner's hand for only a very low price to pay. Think insect.

Answer: Grave-Shell Scarab

This card has lots of potential in replacing the ever popular spiritmonger in a black-forest extended deck. Not only does it have solid built body for combat but it recurs over and over again.
4. It is a counterspell and stifle built into this card. It works well in control decks and will sure find its way into the hearts of UG extended players.

Answer: Voidslime

This card is simply amazing and I think that it is way better than absorb. It negates those nasty fetch lands, it thrashes your opponent's pernicious deeds, and counters all sorts of stuff. A future extended powerhouse especially when combined with eternal witness and mystic snake.
5. There are more than twelve playable versions of the birds of paradise printed by Wizards of the Coast?

Answer: True

Some BOP prints are ALPHA, BETA, UNLIMITED, REVISED, 4TH, 5TH, 6TH, 7TH, 7TH(FOIL), 8TH, 8TH(FOIL), RAVNICA, RAVNICA(FOIL).
Not to mention that foil cards are also playable versions.
6. The Banawe Rice Terraces in the Philippines was featured as a card art for a certain mountain card in the game.

Answer: True

Sept '98 saw the release of one of the most powerful stand alone sets in the game(Urza's Saga). During the pre-release tournament, Asia Pacific lands were given to all participants as an added bonus for signing up. Those lands featured many famous landmarks in the Asia Pacific and the Banawe Rice Terraces in the Phillipines was selected to appear on one of the mountain cards.
7. There aren't a lot of powerful green cards out there on any format. But, I remembered that there was once an extended format green powerhouse card. This card allows you to shuffle 3 cards from your graveyard back to your library with a cantrip. A sorcery from weatherlight this is. What I wanna know from you guys is not the name of the card but who rather illustrated the card art.

Answer: Rebecca Guay

Yep. Rebecca Guay is the illustrator of Gaea's Blessing. You will notice that she has a very distinct style in her works. She also painted a Serra Angel blow up FYI.
8. What was the first magic set that introduced foil cards in its streamline release?

Answer: Urza's Legacy

It is indeed true that the Urza's Legacy set was the first set ever to release foil cards in its streamline release although Urza's Saga did release the first foil card in magic history. The pre-release foil card for the set was the Spencer drawn Lightning Dragon and was the 1st ever MTG foil card.
9. We've seen what this amazing creature can do ages ago when it was released. But this creature got broken only after playtestings were made. Imagine a flyer with a body built to block those nasty weenies plus the ability to send a permanent back home with just a single tap and the help of two other comrades. What am I thinking of?

Answer: Tradewind Rider

Cheesy! That's what I can say about this rare blue figure. Creatures are not blue's specialty but this one is a flat out broke. The Tradewind Rider is truly a rare animal because of its ability and stock and considering that great blue creatures might appear only thrice in a lifetime. "By the way trady, the wall of blossoms misses you a lot."
10. Now this is a rare white sorcery card that allows you to destroy all creatures in play but you can play it as an instant if you want to. I cannot seem to remember the artist who illustrated this. Can you guys help me?

Answer: Ron Spencer

Now I remember. It was our dear friend ron who illustrated the card art for Rout. It was released in the Invasion set. A costly Wrath Of God but with a surprise mechanic.
