Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Two Alpha cards were incorrectly printed with a mana cost of 1R. Name those two cards.

Answer: Orcish Artillery & Orcish Oriflamme

Orcish Oriflamme's correct mana cost is 3R and Orcish Artillery's is 1RR. Both were corrected in Beta.
2. Alpha: a card was printed without a mana cost, thereby making it rather difficult to play. Name that card.

Answer: Cyclopean Tomb

Cyclopean Tomb's correct mana cost is 4 and was corrected in Beta.
3. An Alpha misprint: Elvish Archers, a green rare, was printed with a wrong power and toughness. What P/T did the Archers have in Alpha?

Answer: 1/2

The Archers was corrected in Beta, much to the relief of Green players everywhere.
4. Alpha: While not technically a misprint, 7 cards were omitted from Alpha only to be put in in Beta. 5 of those cards were basic lands. What were the other two?

Answer: Volcanic Island & Circle of Protection: Black

One of the most powerful COPs and one of the best lands in the game were left out by mistake, so if you were sold an Alpha Volcanic Island, you got ripped off!
5. The Arabian Nights card, Serendib Efreet, was misprinted in Revised with the wrong picture and border. The Efreet was famously printed with a Green border but can you name the card Serendib mistakenly got its art from?

Answer: Ifh-Biff Efreet

The misprint was the last printing of Serendib Efreet until the From the Vault: Exiled box set was released.
6. One box set had four cards, Armored Pegasus, Samite Healer, Mogg Raider, and Warrior's Honor, misprinted with the wrong mana cost. Name the box set.

Answer: Anthologies

The Anthologies box set includes cards reprinted from Alpha to Urza's Saga.
7. In Starter, a Green Sorcery was printed with a cost of 1G instead of the correct 2G. Name that card.

Answer: Squall

Squall was printed in Starter, Mercadian Masques, and 7th Edition, but because the misprint was printed in Starter as costing 1G and reprinted in Masques as 2G, this caused some confusion as to which cost was the correct one. This confusion was alleviated when Squall was printed in 7th edition with a cost of 2G.
8. Starter: two Red commons were misprinted with Rare symbols. Name those cards.

Answer: Mons' Goblin Raiders & Goblin Hero

These errors occured in the Starter 1999 set. They were subsequently reprinted as commons in Starter 2000.
9. One of the most impressive misprints happened in the Spanish language version of 4th edition. This error combined two creatures, one Blue, one White into a single card. This card has the name, cost, text, type, and power and toughness of the White creature but it has the border and art of the Blue creature. Name the two creatures that were combined.

Answer: Serra Angel & Time Elemental

This card is sometimes called "Serra Elemental". It is a very rare misprint and highly sought after.
10. One of the most famous misprints is also one of the most expensive cards in Magic. This Green card was misprinted in the extremely rare "Summer Magic" set with a blue border. Name this card.

Answer: Hurricane

The Blue Hurricane is worth thousands of dollars on the secondary market. It is estimated that fewer than 15 of these misprints exist.
