Answer: Spring Baton

Yuko's official weapon was the spring baton, but she also received a small bottle of poison, which was marked as "Special Bonus". She didn't mention the poison to any of the other girls when they allowed her to join them, but when Shuya was brought to the lighthouse, she started to consider using it.

Yuko poisons the stew, intending to kill Shuya, but Yuka tastes it first and dies. When the other girls realise it was poison, they all panic, and Satomi pulls the Uzi out on the others, demanding to know who did it. Ironically, the only one left alive at the end is the real culprit, Yuko.

Answer: Chisato Matsui

Chisato has fallen face down, and Shuya can see where she has been hit with multiple bullets from the Uzi. Yuka, obviously, has been poisoned, Satomi has a puddle of blood leaking from under her head, and Haruka's neck has been shot. Yukie has also been hit with the machine gun, but Shuya only notes the bullet holes in her chest.

Answer: Volleyball

Yuko used to watch Shuya practicing his guitar while she was playing volleyball in the gym. She finally realises that Shuya isn't a danger to her when he saves her from falling, even though it must be really hurting his injured arm. She can't face the guilt of what she's done, so she lets herself fall.

Hiroki's advanced martial arts skills allowed him to disarm Kiriyama three times. He makes him drop his machine gun, then an automatic pistol, then Tashanori Oda's revolver. Hiroki thinks he has finally managed to kill Kiriyama, but Kiriyama is wearing the bullet-proof vest, and he stabs Hiroki while he is off guard.

When Hiroki insisted on leaving the group, they told him that if he wanted to meet up with them again, he should light two fires. Once they saw the smoke, they would sound the fake birdcall every 15 minutes until Hiroki found them. When Shuya was seperated from the group, he used the same idea to find them again. The final birdcall he hears occurs a little after 3pm.

Answer: Yukie Utsumi and Haruka Tanizawa

Shuya can't stop thinking about Yukie, in particular, because he knows she cared for him. He also realises, as he tells the story, that Noriko has lost people she cared about too. Noriko found it hard to make friends, as she was often bullied, but Yukie and Haruka were always nice to her.

Hiroki finally manages to find Kayoko, but she thinks he will try to kill her, so she runs away from him. When he gives chase, she shoots him, and he falls down. He manages to tell her that he loves her, and gives her information on meeting up with Shuya, Kawada, and Noriko.

The last thing he manages to say is "I don't mind at all... dying because of you. So please, please go. Or else...". Kayoko can't work out what he was about to say, and didn't have any idea how he felt about her.

Mitsuko killed Kayoko while she is crying over Hiroki's body. She is shocked when she realises that Kiriyama has managed to creep up on her without her realising. He shoots her with three bursts of the machine gun, in total. Before she dies, she shoots the remaining four bullets from her gun at his chest, but of course, he is still wearing the bullet-proof vest.

Answer: Kaori Minami

Kaori was Mizuho's friend, who used to go along with her game, even though it bored her. Mizuho believes that Kiriyama and Mitsuko are demons, who need to be destroyed, and that Kaori had died for Ahura Mazda. This was most likely just a game she played at school, which had become more real to her under the stresses of the program.

Shuya and the others don't realise that Kiriyama is the only other student left in the game. They have seen the two pillars of smoke Kiriyama has made, and believe them to be a sign that Hiroki is alive, and with Kayoko. They want to contact Mizuho, but they don't think they'll be able to convince her to join them unless Kiriyama and Mitsuko are already dead.

Kawada shows Shuya and Noriko the photograph of him and Keiko, and in the background are:

Shuya and Noriko think at first that Keiko is waiting for Kawada in Kobe, until he reminds them that he'd won the tournament before, so Keiko had been killed.

Aside from himself and Kawada, Shuya thinks that Kiriyama is still alive, because he is so dangerous, and unlikely to be killed easily, and that Hiroki is still alive, because he is sending him the smoke signals. When Shuya hears that Hiroki is dead, he realises that the signals must be being sent by another student, and when he hears that Noriko is the only girl left, he realises that they are leading Kiriyama right to them.

Answer: Shogo Kawada

Kiriyama eventually catches up with Shuya, Noriko, and Kawada, and they have an extremely long and drawn out battle, over half the island. Kawada is the one to realise that Kiriyama is wearing the bullet-proof vest, so he shoots him in the face with a shotgun.

The program has taken place on the Northern-most of the three, Okishima. In the middle is Megijima, and further South is Ogijima. Shuya and Noriko are shown this by Kawada after the death of Kiriyama. Ths is also where Kawada says possibly the most famous line in the book - "So, you both lose".

Kawada claims that he made up the whole story about Keiko. He says that there was a girl in his class called Keiko, but she was just a classmate, and that the girl in the photograph is his girlfriend, Kyoka Shimizaki.

Sakamochi and various other government officials had placed bets on the winner of the program. Sakamochi lost his money, because he had expected Kiriyama to win. Although he realises that Kawada has cheated, and isn't really the winner, he is planning to record him as the winner because one of his superiors has bet a great deal of money on him.

Answer: Okayama

Takamatsu, Tokushima, Wakayama, Osaka, and Kobe are all in the surrounding area. Kawada suggests that they land on a hidden beach at Okayama. He teaches Shuya how to drive the boat, because he knows he is dying, and won't make it to shore.

Answer: Kiriyama

Kiriyama had only managed to hit Kawada once, but it was just below his neck, so he didn't have much chance of survival. Kawada didn't get it treated, he carried on with the plan so that Shuya and Noriko would be more likely to get out alive. He knows he won't be able to go to a hospital either, so he just accepts his fate.

Answer: Yoshitoki Kuninobu and Yukie Utsumi

Shuya manages to pick out the faces of his best friend, and the girl who cared for him, and quite possibly saved his life. They are still recognisable, even after the poison gas has swept the island, because they were killed indoors. The image is shown on a news broadcast appealing for people who know the whereabouts of Noriko and Shuya.
