Margaret Peterson Haddix's emotional piece features 16-year old Tish Bonner, who is keeping a journal for English class. What she writes in her journal is no happy story. Her father returns home after two years, but leaves again shortly. Tish's mother leaves to find him, and Tish and her younger brother Matt are faced with one fact: they are living by themselves now.
2. In "Silent to the Bone", what drastic even happened on the day Branwell Zamborska lost his ability to speak?

Answer: His baby half-sister went into a coma

E.L. Konigsburg wrote this mystery about a sudden accident which leaves two 13-year old boys searching for the truth: who injured Branwell's baby half-sister? After the incident, he is so traumatized he is unable to speak. Branwell learns how to communicate with the help of his friend Connor, and they soon reveal what really happened.

Janie Johnson's other name is Jennie Spring. She learns that the family she lives with are not her real parents in "The Face on the Milk Carton", and that they gave her the name Jennie when they kidnapped her when she was three. The other books in the series are "Whatever Happened to Janie", "The Voice on the Radio", and "What Janie Found". Christina Roomey is from "The Fog", "The Snow", and "The Fire" series.

Fern raised Wilbur from the time he was born until he was weaned from the bottle. He was the runt of the litter, and Fern's father was going to kill him. Then Wilbur went to live on her Uncle Homer's farm. And it was there that Wilbur met Charlotte, the spider who saved his life.
9. Another popular young adult book is "Skinnybones", written by Barbara Parks. What sport does Alex Frankovitch play?

Alex is the smallest kid on the team, and he is well known for making people laugh.
10. Which of these is not one of the characters in the "American Girl" series?

Answer: Mary

The "American Girl" books go through different time periods in America. Kirsten is a pioneer girl from Sweden who moves to 1850's America with her family. The stories of Samantha are set in 1900's America. She is an orphan who lives with her rich grandparents. Molly is growing up during World War II in the 1940's.

In the "American Girls" series, there is also Felicity, Josefina, Addy, and Kit.
